Hi!

Head's up... Helia's mom is in her final days. I saw this over in Fun and Games. My goodness, those ladies get so much done!!

I have had a shower.
Yesterday I finished another book. Then I started another book. As far as books go, I buy a LOT of used books. The books I was looking at were new releases. I have a lot of first editions. One of the authors is one that I just can't buy yet another book of due to the fact that I haven't read the other books that she has written under this name. I get part way into book number one and I can't get any further. I have tried to read that first book numerous times and it just isn't happening. The other book is a stand alone by an author who wrote some very famous stuff, but this is a new book, a new, unknown character and I don't think I can spend $50 on an unknown character.

Dh thinks we are very close to being done with the tomatoes for this year, so he asked if we could have bacon and tomato sandwiches for breakfast. I am currently defrosting the bacon in a sink with cold water. Bacon is almost defrosted.

I have my Fibre Friday group at 1. I have to go to the bank on the way there to pay a bill.

It's a gorgeous day here with a slight breeze. Neighbours have their windows wide open. We have some open windows.

I really need to do the litter boxes, speaking of fresh air.

Hello, Cathy and all who follow!

So sorry to hear about helia's mom.

I hope blessed's dd younger is recovering well.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I've been calling it my sick-tieth. My family did cards and present on Monday, even though I'd really wanted to postpone the entire celebration. We still have not done dinner and cake. I have decided that for cake, I want to get cupcakes from a place which is near my financial people's office; I have to drop off my pension disbursement check, which came about a week ago. They called about it, and I said I"d run it by as soon as I was feeling better. They said they could send a mailer, and now I'm thinking I probably should have said yes to that. On the other hand, I'm thinking about possibly running out and doing those errands today. Cold medicine is taking care of most of the remaining symptoms, but I'm still pretty tired -- due to the cold itself or to the medicine making me drowsy, I don't know.

We have the Weird Al concert tomorrow, and while I'm not as anxious as I was about it earlier, I'm still a little worried about the logistics of it all. I was hoping to have dinner reservations such that they would fill the time between the gates opening and the seating opening, but I was only able to get them for half an hour later than I would have liked. I decided to take them anyway -- we still need to eat. But now I have more time to fill than I would have. *sigh* I'm sure once it's all over that I will have had fun and be glad I've gone.

I need to flip wash and have some lunch.

Cathy - thank you for the start today

Sending Happy Birthday thoughts and wishes to HRH!

I'm still in a slump and waiting for the emotional fog to clear. I am staying up with the must-do's and taking care of my people.

Thank you, yes, HRH gets to say he is as old as I am. He loves all the jokes he gets to make while I am "older" than he, a few months each year. He was the driver today again, but we are finished with at least this week's many appts. Next week I only see his dermatologist checkup. We still walked and walked even for one appt because we absentmindedly parked at the opposite end of a large complex, but that's okay.

Back home, I got a pleasant phone call from a dear childhood friend. Her precious aunt, who was my dmother's best friend, had given each of us the same identical newborn-resemblance baby doll for Christmas when we were, maybe, 5 and 6? Her little granddaughter had discovered her doll, who is a girl, and has been playing with her. It made her think of me. I brought my doll, who is a boy, out to the living room because of her encouragement and am allowing him a view of the place from my children's old highchair. I took a photo and sent it on to her, and also to my kids. He is tiny in it (after all, he's a newborn), but he's very well-received, so, a nice visitor there.

I tried to talk HRH into letting me bake him a pineapple upside-down cake, but he insists the birthday makes him consider being good and staying away from sugar.

Enjoyed "holding down the fort" at ddolder's house. Her youngest picked my brain for Social Studies assignment of history that happened during my lifetime. I gave him a lot of thoughts on the space program from my first memory (Neil Armstrong), through Tang breakfast drink (he knew this, btw), through the Challenger explosion, Space Station, and the interstellar probes' transmissions of photographs. I think he was at least somewhat interested!

Hi, lucylee!

Mystery Woman
! You're going to get to see Weird Al ????? WOW.

Cathy, thank you for pointing out helia's concerns today about her dmother.

About books -
vergerswife discussed a bit in The Decluttered Home about how she regularly sells some books - I don't know if that would ever be an option for anyone else, but if you put a good price on some you finished while they were in demand, you might get a partial return on some of the cost. I don't know whether the effort would be worth it. It might seem like a whole new project of too much trouble, but maybe some new releases could be enjoyed with at least a potential reimbursement.

WonderBoy came after referee-ing the 9-year-olds in a soccer match and changed out two light bulbs I'd mentioned to him. HRH gave him a piece of memorabilia from the 1981 soccer champs of ASLeague here. It was given to him that year by an English player who had unfortunately mooned the Queen in a moment of exuberance and came here to play because, what a surprise, that was frowned upon, and he was no longer as welcome to play there.

Ddolder showed up and nagged HRH to pleeeease tell her something she could pick up for him at grocery or convenience store that would be a treat for him, but as usual he denied having any desires at all. He is not good with presents for himself.

His dear uncle 92 called to wish him a happy birthday.

I was putting various keepsakes back in the closet after freeing my doll, and so WonderBoy had to get a crash course in Grandma's family memories, back to a baptism dress made by his great-great aunt. It's good for him. ;) Someday he'll be able to say, "Now, I was supposed to remember something about that... .."

I didn't have time earlier to do anything except wish HRH a happy birthday.

I had my Zoom at 5 p.m. for the gal I'm mentoring. Not quite enough bandwidth here so it broke up several times. I turned off my camera to save some bandwidth and at least it didn't crash after that.

Burgers for dinner tonight. We leave for home in the morning. I'll be happy to be home, this has been a little too much travel over the last three months.
