Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by William Shakespeare thought to have been written in 1598 and 1599.The play was included in the First Folio, published in 1623.

The play is set in Messina and revolves around two romantic pairings that emerge when a group of soldiers arrive in the town. The first, between Claudio and Hero, is nearly scuppered by the accusations of the villain, Don John. The second, between Claudio's friend Benedick and Hero's cousin Beatrice, takes centre stage as the play continues, with both characters' wit and banter providing much of the humour.

Through "noting" (sounding like "nothing" and meaning gossip, rumour, overhearing),[2][3] Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into confessing their love for each other, and Claudio is tricked into believing that Hero is not a maiden (virgin). The title's play on words references the secrets and trickery that form the backbone of the play's comedy, intrigue, and action.

Gma, thank you for the words of support. I really need to get this light fixed without DH noticing. He was so pleased with himself , I really can't ask him to do the job "properly". (And I still don't know why he decided to change the light fitting, when I just asked him to change the light bulb. There was definitely nothing wrong with the old fitting! Bit these things happen). The electrician has assured me it's a quick and easy job, so I'm just hoping everything goes smoothly, and it's all done well before DH comes home from the office!

So, today, as well as dealing with the electrician, I need to do my usual Monday cleaning, and I'd really like to spend some time in my garden if the weather cooperates!

Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

It's almost 7am here, I am working from home, so no rush to get out of the house. I'm really grateful that my job has the flexibility of not going to the office when I have a sick child, and also that DH's job offers the same (though in both of our workplaces this is not available to everybody, but we're both key personnel and have proven to get things done independently). I'm gonna use the extra two hours of not-commuting wisely - at least I hope

Good morning, Trissie! I was awake early but not quite *that* early. Just checked and it was around 5.30.am when I started the thread. I hope DBD feels better soon - I'm sure you'll make the very most of those two "extra" hours today!

DH is taking his time getting up this morning, on the one day I would really like him out the house early , so I can ensure the public spaces downstairs are tidy before the electrician hopefully arrives. (The sitting room was tidy when I went to bed last night, but who knows what's happened since then -.I really think we must have some very messy elves that often come.to visit overnight! )

I intended to say I'm bored at work, but reading the news in France is everything but boring. Yesterday we had a new government, after weeks of a new Prime Minister hesitating. Well, new government, not really, most of the team was there a few months ago already... political reactions yesterday night were mostly shock and disbelief. So the PM just resigned, this morning, even before the new team could meet at least once.

Thanks, FrenchFly. I confess to being behind on the news. I didn’t know that France has a Prine Minister as well as a President. Our news usually only reports on Macron.

Sleep well, Dogged! You made good progress with the rental car. I was vaguely aware
France had a (nameless) prime minister as well as the president, but I will confess I didn't know who he was either! The BBC enlightened me, however. I've had a think about what to do when DH retires -he's planning to volunteer at least one day a week on the south Devon heritage railway, so I shall still have opportunities for surreptitious home repairs in then. I probably need to think about changing the light bulbs myself. The problem in is I'm not as tall as DH, and whereas he can easily do it without needing to climb anything, I need to go and fetch the steps (I don't like climbing on chairs as it's not always very safe!)

FFB, I just checked what the BBC has to say about the French government, and it does seem to be rather a mess! I hope you have a peaceful and productive day at work.

DH has left for work, Ive taken Fred out for his walk, roi ded up all the rubbish and taken that done to the bins, and had a quick tidy downstairs. The bathroom really needs its weekly clean, but it's had a quick S/S, so looks respectable. Going to finish my coffee then , when Fred gets off my lap, I'll see if I can tackle that one remaining rose in my front garden. (I can't work round the back as I don't always hear the doorbell!)
