Tomato jam (or tomato jelly, jamato) is a type of fruit preserve prepared with tomatoes and sugar.

Green tomatoes are used in some preparations. Some preparations may use honey, and some even include bacon. It has been described as "a cross between marmalade and ketchup". Some commercially prepared varieties are produced. It is sometimes used in the preparation of sandwiches similar to a BLT, using the jam in place of tomato.

Tomato jam has been described as a popular condiment in South Africa.

In 1840 in the United States, a recipe was published in the American Farmer that involved straining stewed tomatoes through cloth, adding an equal amount of sugar, and then boiling the mixture for a few hours.

In 1843 in the U.S., a recipe for preparing tomato jam was published in the Boston Cultivator. The preparation process included rubbing stewed tomatoes through a sieve, adding an equal amount of sugar, and then stewing the mixture into a jam.

Good morning, everyone, and happy Thursday!

Dogged, I dont know if I mentioned this, but it's important to use the lightbox when you first wake up, as then you get the most benefit, as your brain is tricked into thinking it's time to get up and start doing things. You really dont want to use it near bedtime, as there's the risk you won't sleep!

Today is our parish lunch. I'm just hoping everyone (a) turns up and (b) eats their food. I have a copy of the list of everyone's menu choices, so no arguments there!

I'm hoping for a dry day, as it makes everything so much easier, but we'll see!

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

Kittykatt, thanks for the start, I hope the parish lunch goes smoothly and everyone joins in and enjoys it.

Mostly cloudy here. MrNG is at his internship place, both boys are home, DS7 had another difficult night, woke us up around 3am... He just stays seating in his bed with a plastic tub on his lap and wants someone to stay with him "for a bit longer". He just came downstairs and is now preparing himself a bowl of cereal so I think he's fine this morning. Not sure about next night.
We will leave early tomorrow, our train for Paris leaves around 8 and we need to find a spot to park the car near the station, somewhere where parking is free and where the car won't be "visited" (this happens sometimes). I know there have been roadworks and road changes near the station, we don't go there often, so I think we should allow for some extra time. I intend to pack backpacks for all, to be decided to night. And pack sandwiches for Friday noon, even if our train arrives around 11am and the Paris stations are full of lunch options. And we will be back on Saturday night.

TADAs
up, read news and email
bfast with DS9
very quick cuop
now going to have a light coffee while DS7 eats

TODO
make jack o lanterns out of butternut, I have 2 large ones
finish homework and school related things
prep lunch, decide what else we do today

☀️Good morning!

Thanks for the start, kittykatt. I’ve heard of tomato jam but have never had any that I can recall. Enjoy your lunch today. I hope your hard work is appreciated by everyone.

French, I’m so sorry ds7 still feels bad. Hope everyone enjoys carving jack o lanterns.

I just got up to let the dogs out. It’s still dark here so not doing much yet. I’ll be back later with bells on!

Good morning Bama, I hope the dogs didn't wake you up.

L.Ann I notice you have Little Bit even on Saturdays. That's a lot of days taking care of her. I hope that she likes being at school all days now.

Both kids helped with getting lunch ready, DS9 thawed the spinach and cooked it. DS7 calculated a number of fish fingers we could share equally, also peeled garlic and tried the garlic press. I added ras-el-hanout to the spinach and a few slices of red pepper to the baking dish and some small fruit pieces and crushed biscuit in another dish. We enjoyed a very tasty lunch.

TADAs
both butternut emptied, there will be soup tonight
one butternut is ready (a ghost kind of face)
also carved a large turnip, much easier
cleaned up butternut mess in the kitchen
lunch ready, with help from both kids :)
enjoyed lunch and baked fruit dessert

TODO
carve face in second butternut
finish homework and school related things
maybe some cleaning in the bedrooms ? sorting toys they don't play with ? To make room for Christmas...
short grocery trip if we need anything for our trip to Paris today and tomorrow?
Light up the candles in the jack-o-lanterns when MrNG arivves back from work
probably take pics of the lanterns, maybe share them as puzzles on jigidi
pack for tomorrow, bed early
do we need to print the train tickets or are they e-tickets ?

FFB, are you visiting family in Paris? Sounds like you are planning well for it. Is DS7 feeling better? That's great math practice for DS7!
Do you have your bells on now, Bama? Now, that's an idiom I don't think I've ever heard before! I had to google it. LOL!
How was the parish lunch, Kitty? I don't think I've ever had tomato jam, but I think I'd like it!
L Ann, is DD39 going somewhere on Saturday so you have Little Bit? Maybe you've said and I missed it. Sounds like some fun events for DD32 today.

I'm here late, jetlagging. It felt SO GOOD to sleep in my own bed in my own home! I slept 9 hours and could have slept more. Drinking coffee and greatly looking forward to getting back into my routines.

Today, I'll be out and about for a bit. I need to go to the school to pick up my exams so I can grade them, get some groceries - we're out of everything! I'm also meeting AS at 2 for a work out session; I might try to jog as well, maybe to the gym and back - bundling my activities. LOL! (It's about 1 mile away.) I have not jogged at all since last week Tuesday. At home, I should unpack, do some laundry, and work on payroll - grade exams, update gradelink, start prep for class tomorrow. Memorial thank you progress would be great too. I feel behind on everything. Dh didn't RSVP for me for the university awards dinner tonight because he thought I would stay in WA. That's OK - an open evening by myself sounds lovely.

Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- go pick up the exams?

Later:
- list for WF
- WF
- check CC
- check health statements (passwords were at home)
- lunch at some point
- jog

- unpack
- 1 load of laundry: w d f pa
- dinner: rice, Kevin's chicken, veggie TBD
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update health apps
- payroll: grade exams and verb quizzes
- payroll: update gradelink
- payroll: get an idea of the plan for class tomorrow
- maybe, knitting
- maybe, reading
- maybe, progress on phone calls
- maybe progress on Memorial Thank yous

Technically I don’t have Little Bit on the weekend but with holiday events and birthdays I usually get her a couple of times this time of year. On Saturday they are bringing us breakfast along with Little Bit. It should only be an hour or two. They are talking to the contractors about redoing their kitchen and Little Bit does not seem particularly interested in the project.

How is your granddaughter today, helian? Little Bit loves school so she is happy with all day. She only rests there though and doesn’t sleep which makes her a bit wobbly in the late afternoon.

I think maybe the sun is coming out. One no rainy walk today would be nice.
