~~~ Happy November! ~~~
How will you be saving and making the most of time in your household today?
Tonight's the clocks' nite!
Here's the long version of the explanation for all who observe.
Nov 2, 2025 - Daylight Saving Time Ends
When local daylight time is about to reach
Sunday, November 2, 2025, 2:00:00 am clocks are turned backward 1 hour to
Sunday, November 2, 2025, 1:00:00 am local standard time instead.
Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on Nov 2, 2025 than the day before. There will be more light in the morning and less light in the evening.
It's bittersweet and dh's anniversary today.
Thank you for starting us off this morning Harriet!
Dh "needs" to go to a certain grocery store in the town just east of us. He insists that they have mandarin oranges on sale. I checked the flyer and I don't see them, but I'm not going to argue.
The sun is shining this morning.
Sun is out here too, Cathy, although we have some clouds today.
I'm watching webinars for the day...got up late, no time to walk the dog so she's waiting. I think dh is home from Torah study, going to ask if he will walk her...
morning...
Out again for a walk, but got a later start. That's ok as it was light enough that I didn't need a flashlight.
Made our breakfast
Morning routines done
Footprints done
Wrote and answered needed emails.
We have a music concert to attend tonight. That should be fun. Need to make sure I have gas in the car.
Happy anniversary, bsweet and dh!
I'm just getting started on my Saturday. Paying some bills, etc. Both dgrands are here. I went to ds's house first thing to get him to check air in my tires (got an OnStar message that one was low yesterday). He said they were all the same, about 30 pounds, but I had him inflate them to 35. I need to get the oil changed this week, so I'll see if they are losing air then and let that man fix it if it needs anything.
I think my stomach is back to "normal," which for me of course is not actually what anyone else would consider normal, but I feel better.
Took the dgrands out for breakfast, now dgs is in his bed with his laptop, and dgd is in my bedroom turning cartwheels, and I'm just enjoying the quiet. AU doesn't play till 6:30, so we'll be watching games that we don't care so much about who wins until then. I don't know how I'll spend my extra hour, but I hope I don't forget to change the clocks!
What a quiet day here in the village. I'm listening to the webinar although my thoughts are wandering all around. I've heard some of these before - certainly have heard many lectures by this speaker...
I woke up THREE hours later than my normal wake time. Saturday is the only day of the week I don't have to be up and going so i guess my body decided to take advantage of the ability to sleep in. I feel like I have been playing catch-up all day until 4pm when I got all my daily doings done.
.....say that 3 times real fast....daily doings done.
Today's kitchen adventures included cooking cheeseburgers for the family and a pot of ravioli. I cooked all that but didn't eat it. I look at and smell the freshly cooked foods and ask myself.....is it worth hurting? Sometimes the answer is yes, but today it was no. I chose to stick with the food that agrees with my body.
If the garden makes it through tonight's low of 35°F, it should be fine for at least another 10 days. Next week, daytime temperatures are expected to climb back into the 80s with nighttime lows in the 50s. I'll cover the tender greens tonight, just in case there's any frost.
A sad funny happened....if that makes sense.
DGS28 has been asking me all week to meet him so we can chat eye-to-eye. This morning, I asked if he wanted to meet me at Jamn That's Good for lunch at high noon. He agreed. I arrived 5 minutes early and sent him a text that i was in the parking lot. He text back that he was almost there and would meet me at the entrance door. I waited....and waited but he didn't show up. He texts that he was waiting for me at the entrance door. huh? I asked WHERE are you? He is at Toast and Jam restaurant while I was at Jamn That's Good restaurant.
The two restaurants' names did have one word in common but were 45 minutes apart. We decided to try again another day.
Oh, LadyM, that IS sad-funny. The two of you will have a memory of trying hard to get to have a meal and chat together.
Goodness, Nancy, the vest is done! I just mentioned it in A, C and N thread and you are already all ready with it.
Am I noticing correctly that we haven't seen blessed today ... ..
blessed, I often think of your busy and somewhat delicate household.
Today may be slow and quiet at our house because it needs to be something of a recuperation day. Yesterday was fast paced. Lots of connection and visiting with individual grands. One's costume was uncomfortable and I needed to help adjust, one had been standing at the mailbox waiting for part of his costume to arrive just an hour before (!). I was rushing to get everything ready and then ds called to say his family would be early! And that on the heels of two whirlwind med days.
We certainly had holiday fun, though. Cookies were decimated.
Today I made a large cake of cornbread requested by HRH and that has been the base for two meals. Very good. But my breakfast was tofu scramble, which my body appreciated more.
Dd27 felt unwell at the Halloween wedding, we hear. I was so sorry to hear that she found herself in the bathroom literally during the "I do's", which was the one very serious and meaningful part of an otherwise whimsical evening. I still haven't gotten to hear about it. Maybe I'll call her again.
Realized that I never got that med call-back to schedule an appt (why does this fall on MY unpaid shoulders?) that must happen in November. We remember the phone ringing with the caller ID saying "Unavailable" but the person hanging up before we could answer. If THAT is their idea of a call-back, they don't know their job or its relationship to the telephone system. So that chore has to go onto Monday's PODA.
