As d lady's daughter is working on her catapult, I thought we could catapult ourselves into our day!
Just as the catapult uses stored potential energy - we can do the same to launch into our day!!!
lets take our potential energy and turning it into kinetic energy - lets set ourselves in motion today!
I used to hear: "I was born ready" many times throughout my youth -
"To be born ready is to be capable of doing what it takes to succeed"
"Born ready" is an idiom meaning someone is naturally skilled, confident, and prepared for a specific task or situation without needing extensive training. It implies an innate talent or passion that makes them feel and appear perfectly suited for what they are doing.
enthusiasm, confidence, and have self assurance to know you can get moving forward.
They never said you had to be ready for everything to be done. (I think that is more a SHE thinking) but we can be ready for one thing.
how about you!

I ended up with a light headache yesterday: rain came later in the evening. I told my family that they should thank me for being a human barometer
woke at 5 and went back to bed - up at 6:15.
dh fed the dogs
no helper today. helper told the office that we didn't need help but we can do it. I wished that they would have asked us.
we only have 4 hours with the other helper on Sunday.
I actually enjoy being on our own as a family. it's more work for sure - physical work.
I think our focus today will be Christmas decorating especially for mom. . (dd's and I spoke out it last night)
heading out to pull daily cards.

I love this morning's catch up reading from last night! Help with catapult for dd14 - why do they make these assignments to middle schoolers when their parents and others have to assist? I remember the project where my dkids have to formulate a wrapping for an egg that would withstand a drop from so high. I think they figured most of it out on their own with us providing materials and supplies?
And I'm snickering at Harriet's idea that I would have a perfectly curated linen closet. Ds was the last in this house to have a twin bed - I think he maintained it until after college when he finally moved out? Most everything for that bed went out, but I did find a fuzzy blanket that I think is for that size. It does match the comforter I purchased. I had a quilt on the day bed as topping before but ddog likes to burrow there and make her den, and she had damaged it by the time I found it. Adds to the history perhaps.
Quiet so far except for ddog asking for walk...heading out with her. Dh and houseguest out to morning services/torah study.

Best wishes to the catapult builders!
I was catapulted into the day, yep. Whoosh.
At 5 a.m. lights came dancing across my bedroom wall and at first, I thought someone in a neighboring direction was just headed to early work and had to turn around or something. But no, it really was as close as it seemed, a vehicle in our driveway. Okay. I pulled on a sweater as though I was presentable/pretend. Eventually, I saw it was a delivery, a rather large van. Oh, well, he didn't need me but who knew. I was there to say thanks, and that's good. It was raining and rather weird, but I did it.
So, all that trouble for a tiny package of ink pens. Nothing urgent about them at all. Had never suggested we needed them urgently. Sigh.
Come to think of it, I'll recommend these pens, because I did track them down and pay a bit more than I normally would. Eighteen dollars for a dozen, all different color Pentel Ener Gel RTX (sounds like a foreign car). I have no idea if that's a good price - I think it is because all are different. Somehow, maybe through ddolder a few months ago, I had ended up with one purple one. As I wrote in my planner, for instance, with different colors helping me keep things straight, I kept noticing I had the best handwriting and comfort when I wrote in purple. Finally, I paid attention and decided to abandon all my mismatched Flairs and other ballpoints for a while and pamper myself a little. Also, these have a distinctive look, and I don't think they'll vanish into the household abyss.
The day is weird in general because I CAN'T EAT NORMAL (to me) FOOD, and I feel very put-upon. The dr (or perhaps the whole practice? whole hospital?) who is going to do my upcoming colonoscopy believes in low-fiber diet for 7 days prior. Aaaaaack. Nurse assures me all patients do this, I am not being singled out. I had puffed rice cold cereal for breakfast. So, basically, I had air, wrapped in a rice paper wrapper.
There was more substance in my tea.
So, for second breakfast
, I had an egg salad sandwich HRH had bought at the convenience store, but I can't do that very often. For the rest of the day, I will try to work with canned vegetables (supposed to favor these over frozen, or boil the frozen quite well). I do remember a recipe for canned carrots with honey that wasn't too bad once, so I'll try that. HRH says he will open a can of potatoes and fry so that they get a little crispy. Oh, it dawns on me sweet potatoes in cans may be acceptable. Will have to check my list. Cannot have anything with skin or any fresh produce except melons, which are not in season, of course. I'm thinking I could technically call cucumbers melons...? The only legume I can have is the "baby" lima, canned, so I need to get some of those.

The cat that is the most scared of the vacuum went outside, so I decided to vacuum the entire house. Thankfully it's all on the same level so it took less than 30 minutes. When I did have a roomba, a friend mentioned that they had one on each level of their house, but not in the basement because their washer and dryer were down there, and they didn't have any carpets on that floor. I think I've used up most of my energy for the day.

Good morning
So far, my Saturday has been going smoothly. Having hourly cards for each hour keeps things on track while leaving room to pause and enjoy the little things. I'm aiming to strike a balance between staying productive and savoring the moments.
DH is completely back to normal. He drove a mile across town to get gas for his pickup on his own. While there, he had a cup of coffee and caught up with four lifelong friends. They talked about his memory problems, and he came home feeling good about himself. IMHO, it's important for him to do as many normal things as he can for as long as possible. He is now reading a book.
DS17 is at work, hoping to finish by noon so he and GF can head to the renaissance festival in the big city. They plan to meet a couple of friends there.
DD49 texted this morning saying the catapult was happening. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it definitely sounds promising for DD14 project.

I agree, there seems to be a better way. If the goal is to learn how a catapult works, that could be accomplished using a popsicle stick construction that all students could do. IMHO this project sets students up for failure just because they don't have an adult in their life who can buy the supplies & help build it for them. Only one of DD14's friend group has someone—she mentioned her grandpa would build it. Her other friends don’t have anyone, so they’ll end up having to write the 400 definitions instead.
