We dance gracefully through more chores than we can name.

Good morning
Harriet - Thank you for starting us today.
My 3 things for today -
** Decision on which trees to keep by the shop area
** Contact previous house insurance company that erroneously took yearly premium out of our checking account.
** DD14 to physical therapy 5pm appt.
There are 7 weekly and 1 monthly card due today.
I'm on track with the hourly pathway cards.
Homeschool is happening.
Noting for future reference - DH is wearing his PJ's underneath his clothes. >>>shrugging shoulders<<< In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but it is a clue of his mental status.

Hi!
I ended up having to take a couple of ty lenols this morning for the pain in both hips. It's pouring rain here, so I think it was just arthritis. I also went back to back and slept for a couple more hours. Dh went back to bed as well. Yesterday he couldn't get warm. He was up and down all night.

I think many of us may be rushing bustling scurrying to holiday preparation. They will P W Y C later and tell the adventures.
I myself am waiting in the car for HRH as he mails a package to his friend. I know he will be frustrated in the PO line. I will probably hear a speech on inefficiency as we drive away.
This is our second errand and two phone calls for Desk Day were done before leaving home.

Glad you’re having such a productive day, Harriet! How did your company go last night?
at your (former) insurance people taking the money they weren’t due, LadyM. We’ve had similar troubles here with utilities. Grr. As for your DH, depending on how cold it is by you, he might be on to something! 
It’s a good day for sleeping in, Cathy. I know I set my alarm an hour later.
Nothing major done to my hair, just a trim and refreshing the blue on my tips.
Need to round up the offspring to work on the playroom. DD’s friend will be staying in there in about 10 days, and for the first night, another friend, who will be picking up the first friend from the train station at the absurd hour of the night that the train gets here, will also crash here, so we need enough room to pull the trundle out.

Riding the bs roller coaster I've tried yesterday and today looking for bg monitor that does it with out having
to poke for blood with out success I've seen it advertised. Dang!
Must be too new still a possible scam according to ai on Google .
Some writing done been up over an hr. need to get dressed.
Rained in the nite.
Wind advisory up today.

Surprised that it wasn't a speech when HRH got back in the car, but another little-child-in-December story. This time the very, very young child in a stroller in line in front of him with Mommy was thinking he was Santa, and smiling so big at him. Not old enough to talk. HRH asked me, "You know that smile when their cheeks push up and almost close their eyes?" And of course I could just see that. The mom had said to the child, "Do you want to talk to Santa?" and HRH told her, "Probably wants to ask, 'Santa, how have you let yourself go so much?'"
Mystery, it was an okay visit. Nice to have the tree lighted and decorated and the LR looking bright and cheery. I didn't take the card table down but did take all the gift-wrapping and wrapped gifts away to bedroom to avoid confusion for the child. Just the two presents under the tree that were meant for opening, so that worked out well.
Nancy, I will ask HRH if he hears about that monitor - he keeps up because he used to have to have the arm device.

Finally getting to tell about big-city newspaper from 1899 
in which my dcousin found a short article including my (teen) grandmother :
It is titled, "No Sunday Mail in (town name)". And then a brief explanation that the Post Office had started delivering mail on Sundays but the town had voted to end it. That part concludes, "(town name) should be proud of three things : she has abolished the Sunday mail business in her postoffice, is a dry town, and has good public schools. The school debate last Friday was won by the side championing a special township tax for schools. The debate made by one of the girls, Mary B, deserves special mention."
Of course, my cousins and I find this fascinating - none of us knew our Granny, Mary, was cited by the city paper for debate performance. And the previous generation, who were Mary's children, aren't here to tell us whether she ever mentioned it to them. We assume Mary knew because her school would have known. It's doubtful that her very poor family (of 9 children) would have had a subscription themselves since they lived well out into the country.
My dcousin did the math, and Mary would have been 15 yrs and 11 months old. Within a few years, she would be getting a scholarship to her church denomination's college and become a member of the first co-ed class there, whose women were allowed to attend for only two years, but could actually enter the classrooms, sit at desks and receive special diplomas for women. She became a teacher and later a principal who had to resign because she married.

Homeschool assignments are done and checked, though DS17 was a reluctant to finish them before heading to work. He tried to convince me he’d do them when he got home, and while I’m sure he meant well, we’ve been down that road too many times without success. I asked what he thought would happen if I told his boss, a retired schoolteacher, that he hadn’t completed his schoolwork. Without fuss, he finished all his assignments before leaving for work.
The ready-to-eat tub in the refrigerator is full of a variety of foods, so I'm not cooking anything today. i do have two types of meat in the thawing container with plans to use them tomorrow.
Today is senior discount day at our local grocery store. If I am going to buy anything there this week I might as well do it when they give an additional 5% savings. Getting old can have its advantages!

So... I have been taking today "off".
I have dealt with bathroom and kitchen garbage and I am 1/3 of the way through cleaning kitty litter boxes. I also have a large pot and a large casserole dish soaking. I've also put away some Christmas storage boxes. There are only 3 left in the house. I am not putting out the 2 ceramic trees or the cookie jar that dh's mom painted in the '70's. (Santa is sitting on a chair that is the most hideous shade of green.) I also found the short extension cord that has a push button on it. That is now attached to the lights I put in the bedroom window. so now I can turn them on again. The other cord fell behind the dresser the first night they were hung up.
Dh has gone out, but the only place he mentioned was the bank. I have asked him to go to a certain grocery store to get some frozen cabbage rolls to go with the perogies we are having tonight. He has asked me 3 times if we need sour cream. I have told him 3 times that I bought one yesterday. I hope he doesn't come home with another one.
Later... yaya, he didn't get sour cream. He went to a different store and got cabbage rolls. That's okay. I felt he might have forgotten my instructions regarding where in the store they were. He also went to the bank and brought home a print out of our joint account. (also good).
Brownie points! Instead of giving me new pots and pans for Christmas, he bought me the brand I like and gave them to me "straight from the store". Yay! Non stick that aren't going to stick. Now i will get rid of the other 2 that have been sticking lately!
He also went and picked up 2 of his new prescriptions.

Harriet, your grandmother sounds amazing both as a young girl and a woman.
Cathy, litter boxes are always with us!
Today I had to clear up Fred's "revenge" puddle from yesterday that I only discovered this morning.
We had sunshine ALL DAY and temperatures around 13 C, so I had a good time in my garden before coming inside to clean the kitchen. DH brought home lasagne for supper. I need to remember to put Jude's weight lost record cars out ready to take with me tomorrow afternoon - once Matilda gets off my lap!
