Anyone ready for a 2026 Goals / Intentions / Predictions post ?

I've always enjoyed posting on those threads when using the previous SHE boards. I would list goals in various areas of my life : Health, Travel, Work, Home and Garden, Crafts, Kids, Finances.
The main interest for me was to have a look around September and December to see how I had been doing.

I hope to have some quiet time before New Year's Eve to think about it, and I'll share a list of my goals and intentions.

I don't do predictions, but the previous thread involved some people writing predictions.
Here are some goals and intentions, they may change during the year. Some are a copy / paste from 2025 goals, which shows that in some areas, I am stuck.

Work :
My job is not satisfying, my N+1 has toxic behaviours sometimes. I have an eye open on offers, I put an updated resume online in the fall.
Goal is to change jobs. Preferably a place closer to home, short commute, and 35h weekly (most frequent in France) instead of 39.
I will attempt to be a school teacher again, I applied for a change of area to be allowed to teach in Brittany : odds are ridiculously small.
Intentions : be present, be professional, be cool. Enjoy daily tasks, enjoy the people in my office, they are kind-hearted and funny.

Health :
Intention : take care of my body. respect it.
Goals : Keep working on weights, 3kg weights now, maybe heavier ones later. I do one session a week approximately. I would like to do 2 or more.
Cardio : Try running again ? Try shuffle sessions.
Health appointments. Keep looking for ways to deal with perimenopause-related mood swings, insomnia, and other troubles. Try new options ?

Kids : Goal is to have 1 on 1 time with each kid, weekly.
FInd time alone with each kid, once a week or more. Schedule time. Schedule activities for that time.
They now have a family laptop, and DS10 has a tablet. Intention : Empower them with these tools. Smartly.
Goals : January sales : have them try on new clothes / shop for them without them, return part of the purchases... ! June sales : same thing. End of August : same thing.
September : DS10 will leave primary school to enter collège. An important change. (Provide a dumbphone?)
Intention : read good books with them. Continued from 2025.

Travel : a new place to visit during summer.
We enjoyed going to a non-French-speaking area. Maybe do it once more ?

Crafts : goals copied from last year
Start a decorative project for the downstairs hall / upstairs hall / downstairs toilet wall - something with fabric and embroidery, or something I'd paint.
Crochet a very large blanket for couch ? A long-term project... Or knit a woollen sweater for me ?
Feb / March : yearly family pictures in a photo album
intention : make time for creative stuff, weekly if I can. Schedule it ?

Home and garden : a list of todos for the house.
Spring : paint walls we said we would paint "before end of 2023"
Have electric system checked, make changes so it is compliant to safety rules.
Upstairs shower : try and work on it. Maybe re-do the entire upstairs bathroom (small and ugly-> small and pretty)
Garden : MrNG will probably want to sow and plant a lot of edible things : I will help, encourage, water, weed, harvest, clean, cook.

Finances : goals copied from last year
If both of us get a paid job, plan how to invest regularly. Make an "investment budget".
Assess regularly (once every 2-3 months) what we have and whether we should change things.
Keep "growing" and learning : financial awareness, decisions, investments. Think about retirement, too.

Other projects and goals.
Search for a small piece of land to buy, in order to grow trees there. Close to House.
Keep journaling. Keep reading, I need it.
Work on social life. Invite people over. Invite kids' friends.

Thank you for starting this thread, FFB. I'm going to start with a few things that are OMM.

It's looking likely that DH will be retiring some time during 2026, with all the changes that will bring.

I need to take decluttering seriously, so when he retires the house is clear and peaceful.

I need to try and work out the financial implications on of DH's retirement (can't do much here yet, until next gets a redundancy offer)

Other things for 2026:
Have the outside of the house painted (also cladding cleaned, gutters and downpipes cleaned etc)
Get someone to look at garage roof (verge and ridge tiles for a start!)
New orthotics for me - my feet have changed , so the existing ones no longer do their job
Contact Handyman MJ and ask him to fix back of filing cabinet
Change health centres to the one within walking distance, that also has its own carpark (scheduled for January)
Eye test and new glasses for me

Goals:
1. lose weight, moving up to 15 mg on zepbound I would like to drop 20. I have been stuck but it has recently dropped 5. I would love 20 more to 155, but I am happy for any loss. approved starting this weekend I hope : it is coming along.
2. Exercise consistently either at the Y or upstairs. 3 to 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. done PT since October twice a week for an hour and also at home.

4. Go on Canal boat in England again Booked
5. Finish organizing all space

INTENTIONS

I intend to work on finding new ways to live in retirement
I intend to keep focusing on friend building by having parties and inviting friends places.
I intend to stay informed on politics and involved in civic engagement.
I intend to declutter my life, manage and invest my money and give generously.to charities I support.
I intend to support my sons as they work toward their lives.
I intend to grow and enjoy my marriage.

Predictions
Cameron will get a 4th grade classroom in a healthy school climate next year or a regular teaching contract in fall.
Ryan will get a job in cyber security or leading to cyber security this year.
Nate and Royse will get married or engaged and buy a house together. And maybe move out of twin cities.
Cameron will fall in love.
Ryan will lose weight.
Cameron will find land to purchase and build on or a house to flip. he has been pre-approved for loan and going to see 3 this weekend.
Trump will be impeached and convicted and thrown out of office along with his VP and others before midterms.
I predict a blue wave in midterms I think both house and senate will flip
Cameron predicts a federal agent will shoot a protester or immigrant dead in the street. (that is a morbid prediction) wow this one was met on Jan 7 when Renee Nicole Good was shot in the head 3 times in Minneapolis in her car from simply observing and then trying to drive way when they charged her car and tried to open her door. Shots 2 and 3 were from side directly in windows at close distance.
Cameron predicts the AI bubble will not pop and still will dominate market and that an Ai feature film will air in studios.
I predict Prince will retire. (Kind of a given)
I predict the majority of republicans will turn on Trump.
I predict Trump and others will be found guilty in Epstein files he is all over them and removed from office

Goals updated in August

12 Retire for good when Prince does or before. Retired Apr 3 from teaching but I may be taking on a part time Christian Ed Director position at church.

INTENTIONS

I intend to keep focusing on friend building by having parties and inviting friends places. this is going well.

Predictions
Cameron will get a 4th grade classroom in a healthy school climate next year or a regular teaching contract in fall. Cameron chose to stay a PLT permanent Long Term Sub but has a 5th grade class this year.
Ryan will get a job in cyber security or leading to cyber security this year.
Nate and Royse will get married or engaged and buy a house :?together. And maybe move out of twin cities. not interested in a house but engagement is looking promising.
Cameron will fall in love.
Ryan will lose weight.

New Manifestations to focus on: we get the same boat for 2 weeks in England. We have 1 week but we need it on same week.

Ryan will get a full time job doing something.

I get the Christian Ed position before Sept 13.

Rev Matt moves on to a new position this year or we get a curate who will handle administration. He makes a voluntary Vestry in charge of administering staff. It is beyond frustrating.

We get the rest of Australia booked.

We find affordable flights to all of our destinations.
