It's a Fabulous day! Holidays in our rear view mirror and a return to whatever passes for normal around your place! Perhaps we're not totally back to that normal until Monday but today is a first little step out of the haze of holidays and celebrations.

Use your day as needed! Something completely normal? Put away the holiday remains and debris? (you know, the decorations!) Take a breather and relax right into the weekend? It's all ours, free to do as we need. It's a fabulous day!

Thank you for a fabulous start to our Friday Twins' Mom!!

Back to normal, indeed! Our Compost, garbage and recycling gets picked up today instead of the usual Thursday. Today is the only pick up of the entire year where we can put out 4 bags instead of 2. I managed 3 lighter-than-usual bags. The third bag had a single bag from the kitchen inside. I do have a bag full of food donations for the food bank and a pile of books and some stuff for the thrift store. I will wait until I go through the Christmas decor because I'm sure some more stuff can go. I didn't miss most of the stuff that I usually put out, including various candy dishes.

Later... All garbage, etc., has been picked up already! I brought the compost bin back into the house. Dh is back in bed after his coffee. Dishwasher has been emptied and the dishrack beside the sink is also empty. There are a few cups and dishes getting their rinse in the sink. Dryer is also empty.

I have cleaned 1 of the 3 litter boxes.

You know, I almost posted something about habits and goals but I'm not ready for that yet. I need some space and time and the last few days haven't afforded much of that for me. Those of you with goals, carry on!

Dcleaning lady is to be here this morning so I need to get busy. Dh is out getting his shoulder MRI this morning and the house is quiet, just like I like it!

Good morning! As hoped, I'm here a little earlier today.

Don't have much accomplished yet, just s2s and breakfast (ugh! I forgot to tidy the bathroom before coming downstairs!). DH and DD have been working on a puzzle. DD's ankle is feeling better after a night of rest, thank goodness.

I'd like to get my cards revised today and get a load of wash done. Everything else is gravy, but if there's time, I'd like to return things in the playroom to where they were before our houseguest so I can pull the treadmill out from under the credenza and get it set up and give it a whirl.

On to the cards, with a hot beverage, I think. Tea? Cocoa? We'll see! BBL, I hope. Have a great day!

Good morning

My day is off to a good start even with adding 3 more items to my daily doings. Now I am the one that sets up the coffee pot for tomorrow and refilled the tea pot. These are simple little tasks that DH has always taken care of but now it only happens on the better memory days when he can remember. Even on the days that he remembers to do these simple tasks, he has forgotten how many coffee filters to use and has started doubling the amount of coffee grounds to add. I think he doesn't remember how much so just dumps some in. I also added making DS17 lunch and packing it. Eventually this will become his responsibility to do each day, but starting a new job and new routine always has a learning curve. DS17 job now has a 30 minute lunch time where the places he worked previously there was no set time limit for eating lunch. The first couple days on this job he has been walking next door and eat buffet at a pizza place but that is not only unhealthy it is expensive if done every day.

DD14 just told me that her bed is broke again. This is twice that she has broken the box spring in a month. We haven't even got the old box spring hauled off yet and now she has broken the new one. **sigh** I am thankful for no drama or anger but just a calm discussion how this could happen again. She admitted that she jumps on the bed. Well, now she has the choice to sleep with her new mattress on the floor in her bedroom or move to the other bedroom that has a wooden captain bedframe that I believe is unbreakable (it survived years of use/abuse by DS17). I am fine either way. I'm not inclined to purchase another box spring right now. Eventually I will but there needs to be a consequence. She can pick her consequence - mattress on the floor or change bedrooms. #FirstWorldProblems

Electrolyte mixture made for the month. Also ordered refills on the ingredients.

We have bright sunshine and no wind. I have filled the fire pit twice this morning with leaves and the dry remains from last year garden plants. The asparagus ferns are huge - way over my head. They have now turned brittle so are easy to break off and put into the fire pit. The fire roars with these dried plants/leaves. I'm thankful to have a top on the fire pit to keep the hot embers safely contained.

I've given DD14 the option of making Cheesy hamburger pasta dish two ways. She can pick which one she makes and/or has the option of adding her own creative cooking into the dish.

The time just seems to be going by so fast. I get busy doing something and when I look up then I am surprised at how much time has passed.

Word of the year? I don't think I could do that. Perhaps a phrase of the year or a concept. Would have to think. I guess there are words and phrases I would like to ward off - that's for sure. "Medical", for instance, but that's not up to me! Something regarding having control over the year, rather than being reactive. That's also only sometimes up to me, of course.

lucylee, remember, my ddolder has been widowed 5 years now. Conclusions that become clearer to her now have been years in the process. One of those things that is a journey.

LadyM, I like your references of reminder when you say, "first world problems". A quick reminder that so often our problems are frustrating but surmountable, and a reminder to weigh them in relation to those of others in our world, or previous times in our own part of the world. Just honesty with ourselves.

Went to some trouble this morning making a good healthy breakfast. Then kitchen spif.

I spent 30 minutes decluttering in the master bedroom, 30 decluttering sewing room.
Up soon, with weather checks: 30 minutes cleaning the back porch.
Unknown - will I tackle the English Ivy that is climbing the screen... .. thinking

Inspiring, as always, to come in and find out what you guys are doing.

, once upon a time, I remember a discussion here about how each month's beginning or even each week's beginning marks another perfectly good time to start or revisit goals, intentions, resolutions. It's nice to know when the planet makes a revolution around our favorite star, but it's doing it all the time, not just one of the days. :D
