Sebastian Newbold Coe, Baron Coe, CH, KBE, Hon FRIBA (born 29 September 1956), often referred to as Seb Coe, is a British sports administrator, former politician and retired track and field athlete. As a middle-distance runner, Coe won four Olympic medals, including 1500 metres gold medals at the Olympic Games in 1980 and 1984. He set nine outdoor and three indoor world records in middle-distance track events – including, in 1979, setting three world records in the space of 41 days – and the world record he set in the 800 metres in 1981 remained unbroken until 1997. Coe's rivalries with fellow Britons Steve Ovett and Steve Cram dominated middle-distance racing for much of the 1980s.

Coe headed the successful London 2012 Olympic bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics and became chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. In 2007, he was elected a vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and re-elected for another four-year term in 2011. In August 2015, he was elected president of the IAAF.

Laura, you're doing all the right things. I don't think early neutering would have adversely affected Smokey. With boy cats, it's late neutering that sometimes fails to have the desired effect re marking (although of course it's still successful in its primary aim!)

Britain has a good slew of Olympionics, kittykatt!

I hope our USA and Canadian SHEs are not disappointed that they didn't get a mention this week - there is the Canadian Barbara Ann Scott, the winner of the first-ever figure skating Olympic competion, or USA Jimmy Shea, who holds a gold in skeleton in Salt Lake City 2002 and is the grandson of John Amos Shea, an American double-gold medalist in speed skating at the 1932 Winter Olympics (and the first American to win two gold medals at one Winter Olympics). And for the measure, a Czech one would be Martina Sablikova, with her 2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes in Olympic speed skating

I wasn't as productive yesterday as I had hoped, so today can't be a full day off. But I will do the basics and I will do three 45-minute sets and call that a day!

Happy February !

Hi trissie, three sets of 45 minutes can mean huge progress. As for the Olympic winners I must confess I was not as interested by this week's theme as other weeks. I enjoy watching winter sports, I'm looking forwards to watching some sports events in the Milano Cortina games next week, but for some reason I never remember the names of the winners, or their countries.

We will celebrate Candlemas tomorrow by making and eating crepes, a tradition that is French only (AI says in parts of Belgium too).

No rain today, I hope it lasts. Still a lot of catching up on organisation things, admin emails to read, online shopping for our 3 days of ski at the end of February (if there is snow). I would like to relax and reset with a book or a craft project (still to be decided) but I know that as soon as I sit somewhere with a book, one kid will inevitably come and ask me something.

I also confess the Olympics isn’t that entrancing to me, although I do try, so this week has stretched my brain in a good way, but I’m not sad about any one person not being mentioned. Probably because I have never been very athletic or competitive in that way. Thank you for the informative start to each day.

I don’t have any solid cat advice. It’s all trial and error here. Hence the furniture covers and the regular washing. It keeps the furniture safe and the smells at bay. Repetitive cleaning of all the things. Concrete floors for easy cleaning. Lots of attention to each cat. Using the same brush to help with scents, maybe they all smell the same now? As they grow older they seem to mellow. One cat used to be terrorized all of the time but has been mostly left alone for awhile now. She had to be treated for urinary and ear issues several times, not sure if it was stress from being bullied or if she was bullied bc of the issues, but now both seem to be better.

I’m up. It’s freezing outside. Our high was 40s yesterday and the weather app said we are 20 degrees below normal. I feel bad for the outside animals, both domesticate and wild, they’re not used to this. Hoping it warms up quickly. Thankfully the days are sunny and not wet to speed up thawing.

Bama it's been a very cold winter! Both in North America and in (Central) Europe.
My friend said, the only benefit is that the bugs etc. may not survive... On the other hand, other creatures rely on those for food.

I disappeared, as our store walks took 2 hours... needed to get my shoulder checked, it's been rather painful. Got some exercises I can do at home. Hope it will improve. Shovelling did not help it

Today:
I have a morning class. Then, I'll attempt to deal with the hose.
Later, I have my three little ones coming. Need to prep some food and run a lol. Will try to follow my own advice and do something relaxing.

helia, don't know if I am a BO or a control freak! I too wouldn't mind a tick-free year, I hate them! It's DH's job to deal with them when kids have them, but lately they've been happening even when he's not home and I had to do it!
kitkat, is there like anything that eats ticks? Or head lice and fleas? As far as I am concerned, those could easily disappear off the face of Earth!
Bama, I don't care much for sports either, but I think it's good to know some names to not look dumb if conversation goes that way. And some sports(wo)men are simply amazing human beings with admirable attitude or very interesting stories of life.
Frenchie, great idea about those crepes! I think I will make beer pancakes for dinner! Now if you're wondering - I have a recipe that uses beer as the liquid / partial raising agent, and I have leftover (non-alcoholic) beer from last year (we have it around for guests, but I always overestimate how much would be needed), so that goes well together
