The Scots Grey is a dual-purpose breed of domestic chicken kept both for its white eggs and for meat, originating in Scotland, where it has been bred for more than two hundred years. It was formerly known as the Scotch Grey and until about 1930 was popular in Scotland. It is an active bird well suited to free range management, as it is hardy, and forages well.It is on the "Native Poultry Breeds at Risk" list of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

The Scots Grey is a tall, upright chicken, with a single comb. The face, wattles, earlobes and comb are bright red, and the beak and shanks are white, sometimes marked with black. The plumage is barred. The ground colour is steel-grey, and the barring is black with a metallic sheen.

Kittykatt, thanks for the start, I hope you have a good time at church today. I hope to read your menu for today, too, it's a weekly treat. And I do hope your BIL is gone and therefore is your DBIL again .

I always enjoy reading about other people's menus - L.Ann faithfully shares her weekly dinners, thank you - and cooking adventures. It's inspiration for my own menus of course but it's also a way to share something. Like when someone travels and they tell you about the landscapes they've seen.
It's beautifully sunny today. I will garden a bit while it's still not too hot.

Thanks for the start Kittykatt - another great chicken! How are kitties doing? I can't imagine you having a visitor who does not love them... Brought me back memories of my visit to my dfriend's house... The first thing they said to me was to make sure I keep the bedroom door closed- otherwise, I might have had their kitty visiting at night:)
(I am cat friendly though...)

We came back from our daily walk:) DDog was extra happy: we found pylons along the sidewalk and I had her weave in and out. She is exhausted now:)

I need to make a tiramisu...
then, I will meet DD at the gym (first time in nearly 2 weeks...)

French, it would be hard for me to do homework on spring break as well. I do enjoy reading menus and goings on here. You all are far more healthy and productive than I am and it’s encouraging me to do better.

KitKat, what fun and how creative to make a game with the pylons. Our new stove is a Frigidaire, VERY plain Jane but worked the one time I’ve had a chance to use it so I’m happy.

I didn’t do a thing yesterday but chill. It was wonderful. Now back to the real world. I need to get my routines back under control today as tomorrow we will be out and about and I must not get any further behind.

Bama, your list sent my list hiding under the furniture and whimpering in defeat. Any part of it that you get done looks like a win to me.
We never did get to the bottom of the flapjacks. I can't remember the original wording, but it left me picturing Kittykatt operating a trebuchet full of pancakes, launched at the walls of the local YMCA. Which was no doubt regretting whichever of its actions had offended the locals.
My trip is coming up soon! In two weeks I will be hanging out at my db's house. It's a great time to travel. Usually cool enough that I can safely leave Germane in the car for the few minutes that I have to go into Harveys to use the bathroom and pick up food, parents are not yet travelling with their school-aged children so less competition for everything on the road, etc. The price of gas is unfortunate, but these rental cars use so little gas compared to older technology that it will work out.
Your trip must be coming up soon. We will want to hear all about it. (Travelling vicariously through you. )

I have had a very slow start to my day, but I feel all rested and ready to be productive now. Germane has finally woken up, so she has had her heart pill, and we are waiting out the hour before she can have anything else.

KitKat, the kitties are all well, thank you for asking. Freddie is recovered from his dental surgery, and even happy to play a little with Matilda. Jude is continuing to lose weight slowly, and now has a definite waist!

Bama, I'm part of a team that makes a cake every week for the new resident at the local YMCA. There's quite a few people on the team, so my turn only comes up about every 6 weeks or so. I usually make flapjack as it's quick and easy, turns out well and is easy to cut into slices.

Dogged, you've picked the right time to visit your DBro with the kids in school , and not too hot in the car for Germane.

It's been a good day. A good church service, followed by coffee with DF E, who was in good form.unch was roast chicken, roast potatoes, creamed leeks, gravy, spring greens and carrots, followed by lemon cheesecake (this last was a free offer from Waitrose)

After lunch I went out in the garden and came back in when it was too dark to see anymore. But, I've taken a rose out of the front garden that wasn't doing at all well this year. I can't plant another rose there straight away, as it's not good practice, so I've filled in the hole and I'm encouraging the London Pride to fill the gap. I think I also need to spread some more bark there, but that's a job for tomorrow.

Dogged, slow starts are always nice. My list is too daunting for me to attempt most days so it sits.
I’m excited for your trip too! It’s always good to get out and about and visit loved ones. My trip is in August so you’ll be seeing things pertaining to it on my list a long time.
Perhaps the ymca people are so starved of carbs they will welcome the pancakes? Kittykatt is leaving us wondering to keep us coming back.
