Britains, earlier known by the founder's name W. Britain, is a British toy brand and former manufacturing company known for its die-cast scale models of agricultural machinery, and figurines. The company was established in 1893 as a toy soldiers manufacturer.

In 1921, the Britains "Model Home Farm" was launched, including 30 doe cast metal and later plastic farm figures and animals as well as the first farm vehicle, a tumbrel cart. Britains The range is known for its 1:32 scale models, catering to collectors and children.

Common animals in the Britains Farmyard range include:
Cows/Cattle: Friesian dairy cows, Charolais cattle sets.
Sheep: Often sold in sets.
Horses: Including sets with riders.

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. I remember that my foster sister had a set of zoo animals that sound a lot like that.

Hanging the laundry is going very slowly. I'm having more problems with my joints than usual. I've got the dryer load hung, but have to clean up Germane's pee pads and that part of the floor in order to reach the small rack to hang the delicates.

Dogged you're right, and Britains made zoo animals too:

I had the farm animals which lived on a "farm" made of a wood board with buildings, (pig sty, cow shed) and a pond for the ducks, and green fields painted on it. I also had a zoo set, but they lived on the bedroom carpet, with jist a fence to keep them safe from my mother's hoover!

I think that was the set, Kittykatt. I remember the giraffe, the lion and the fence. :) You had some great toys, between those and the doll house. I think that I would have had the lion herding the sheep into the living room of the doll house, or some such, LOL.

The laundry is all hung and I am looking forward to being horizontal. See you later!

I remember sets of jungle animals and farm animals as a child, but I think they were much smaller than these.

I need to do laundry today too, Doggedly. Maybe horizontal time will help your joints?

That's the beauty of some of the older traditional toys, Dogged - your imagination was their limit! :D

Helia, I had appointments and errands this morning, so I'm counting the walking in town and especially round the garden centre, as my walk for today. :D We have sun and it's a pleasantly warm 17 C, so I'm planning on spending time in my garden this afternoon. I bought geraniums and begonias.at the garden centre for my summer bedding and also to use as potted plants along the path in my back garden. I might start playing them this afternoon -they definitely need a good drink first!

☀️Good morning and happy Friday!

Thanks for the start, kittykatt. Kudos to you for waking up fresh and ready to think up a new title daily. I couldn’t do it. I love toy sets like that. Have fun gardening. I hope to join you this evening in the garden.
I found my milkweed last night at Lowe’s so I have a lot of planting to get done this weekend between it and the other plants I bought yesterday.

Dogged, I’m glad computers make you happy as they confuse me the less I use one, it’s just my phone now although we have a desktop, it hasn’t been turned on in years so I don’t even know if it still works without updates).

Helia, looks like you’re upping your social game. I hope the rain doesn’t interrupt your walking plan.

I’m up and ready to get this day going. I have a dreaded doctors appointment this afternoon, prayers and good thoughts appreciated.
