PWYC Saturday Suggestions

Opening the SHE PWYC doors even though I don't have a S word in mind.
Do you have any suggestions? :)

Good morning

I was outside at sunrise to check on the damage from the hail. The first thing I checked on was the garden. It was discouraging to see the damage. I reminded myself that plants want to survive and will frequently make remarkable recovery. I took several of the broken plants and stuck the broken stems into the wet soil. Will they root and survive? Don't know, but at least they have a tiny chance.
The house windows have some hail damage to the trim and a couple of the window screens were damaged There is probably more hail damage, but I can't see the roof close enough to inspect. We had 4 vehicles in the driveway that were hailed on. Two of the vehicles are less than a year old so are in prime condition. The first thing I check were the windows to see if any of them are cracked/broken and they are okay so we don't have to do immediate repairs. The vehicles need to dry off so the hail damage to the metal can be seen.
The ground is almost completely covered with tree leaves that were beat off the trees. The trees should recover without any help. We got 1.2" of rain along with the hail in about 15 minutes time frame. All in all - we came through that powerful hailstorm okay.

Satiated? I feel satiated with vacation personally, and am ready to head home in the morning. Yesterday we went to the outlet mall for retail therapy. I purchased a few things. I felt like I don't "need" anything but got flip flop style sandals, a couple of t shirts and a nicer shirt, and a couple of "skorts" because I'm not into shorts.

We had lunch at a Lebanese/greek place that we've gone to before - ordered an olive and fig flatbread, baba ganoush (eggplant dip with pita bread) and borekas (a savory pastry with spinach and feta).

It's cloudy today, I told dh I needed some time to do my own thing. May do a little favor for another researcher and look at a cousin's DNA matches to try to determine where another test matches him. The cousin shares my paternal side, so I suspect the match comes from his maternal side, but don't know which maternal grandparent.

I need to do some planning and bracing myself for this week. It's busy.

Glad you're getting out to assess the hailstorm damage, LadyM. It's early in the season so the plants should recover? Hope there's not a lot of damage to roof, cars, and rest of house. We were at the Colorado Springs Zoo in 2018 when a storm hit with a 15 min strong hailstorm. We were sheltering in the reptile house, where the skylights were shattered with hail and rain coming in. Most, if not all the cars in the parking lot, were undrivable. We were staying at a nearby resort, so we weren't driving, and the resort shuttle picked us up before they closed down the area and bussed people out. https://weather.com/news/news/2018-08-0 ... prings-zoo Hail is scary stuff when it's that size.

Good afternoon!

As it turns out, I did not get an implant yesterday. The appointment was to see how the bone graft healed and get things set up for the implant if I wanted to go ahead. They did a CT scan of my head (well, from the nose down) to check on that bone. The machine was not that different from the ones that take a panoramic x-ray, if you’ve had such, but there was much more beeping and booping. I told the assistant that it sounded like foley for a sci-fi movie. Anyhow, the actual implant will be in about a month. No wonder they didn’t care that I had a cold.

Sleepy Saturday here, too — or maybe Solo Saturday. DH left somewhere between 4:30 and 5 this morning to drive down to West Virginia for camp school. He needed to be there by 11, and he said that from his experience, it would be better to get there closer to 10. So I woke up early with him then went back to sleep. He will be gone all week, getting back about dinner time on Friday. I guess I’m not really solo — I have the kids with me, but it will be odd.

Glad no one was hurt by the hail, LadyM. I’m sorry the plants took so much damage.

I’m glad you were able to tell your DH you needed time to do your own thing, Twins. I suppose he will eventually get the idea that you’re not always at his beck and call. Of course, I’m a bit guilty of being jealous of DH’s other goings-on, so I’m a fine one to talk.

Hoping Harriet’s visits go well!

I’m off to hit the treadmill and then have some lunch. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I was up later today glad for that as I needed the rest.
Weeded a tiny bit & moved the can for what I've weeded back to it's "spot".
Got our walk done.

Washed my hair.
I have a plan for lunch.
Gonna go sit on the deck in the sun so my hair can dry next.

Decided against the craft fair it was not that good last year also I do not need anything.

I weeded by the West end of the house, then watered.

Dh and I had a nice visit with his mom at a coffee shop near where she lives. For us, the drive there and back wasn't great. Lots of traffic on the highways and in the city where she lives. Dh and I went out for lunch after we left the coffee shop.

Neither one of us is hungry for supper for 5 p.m. but I'm sure we will be hungry later tonight.

I woke up with a "catch" in my shoulder/neck and it's gotten worse all day. And by 3:30ish, I was freezing and chilled, altho condo is at 73 degrees. I had dh rub some ben-gay type gel on my shoulder and neck and slept a little. I'm finally feeling warm again.

We cancelled our dinner out - we do have plenty of leftovers but with the achy shoulder and neck and chills I'm taking it easy for now.

I hope everyone's weekend is going well.

For me, this day was not supposed to be hectic but really was just one thing after another and I couldn't even make contact with computer. So, I'm sorry about that because I was interested in the posts that might happen today.
LadyM and Mystery, thanks for keeping us updated on happenings.
Mystery, I'm sorry you did not get a once-and-done day, but I suppose they are taking good care of you.
LadyM, thank goodness your family and pets are safe. We feel a part of your gardening. :x Stomping feet for you to hear of breakage.
Twins', hoping you feel better.
A safe outdoorsman week is wished for Mystery Man.

HRH must have misunderstood the most recent communication from dd27, or perhaps her info is just so abbreviated you can't figure it. She has three video events at work this coming week in which she is the interviewer and must have three different outfits, to match/contrast with whatever colors will be around her, so she's stressed. One day she's been asked to wear all light pink just because the interviewee plans to wear a deep pink blazer, so all garments will be new to her, and this is not going over well.

But anyway, it did turn out that we had 7 visitors at the same time today, after I was given to understand it was just dd27 and dsonil. Very surprised when there was a knock and ddolder's family started streaming in. lol.

Gifts were just not the thing, and that's great - I've been dropping hints that they've done plenty for me in little helps along the way. The boys brought candy - licorice. And a card.

A big surprise was DangerBoy arriving, when I thought he was still firmly at college. He got home yesterday.

Lots of tests of my new eyesight. I am humbled to realize that youthful/childhood eyesight is remarkably better than anyone else's, no matter what their eye test scores or doctors say. The two younger boys could stand way back in our bedroom area, look out to the kitchen and tell time on small clocks, read brand names. All 5 of the adults just threw up our hands and laughed at the impossibility of matching them. It really is all relative.

lucylee, I just read that you lost your phone and am so glad that finally worked out through technology with your son. I realize I have too much not-backed-up info on my phone and should do something about that on a regular basis.

Btw, the order for my new reading glasses did arrive today later, when only dd27 and dsonil were here. At first, I thought it was in error, but the tiny package actually had multiple glasses in it, and I was overreacting to what was evidently an extra gift of a black-rimmed pair. There were also little cheap cases for each and a wipe cloth, so I'm embarrassed to say I had to take back everything I was thinking. Also, the little lanyards came, 7 of them to choose from, I think, for the same price that the pharmacy was selling one, and they look the same. Each of us chose different ones as favorites. We'll see.

 I may not even like that - having glasses dangling around my neck, hmmm... .. Does anyone have an opinion about that? Does it work for you?
