Flowering tea or blooming tea (Chinese: 香片, 工艺茶, or 开花茶) consists of a bundle of dried tea leaves wrapped around one or more dried flowers. These are made by binding tea leaves and flowers together into a bulb, then setting them to dry. When steeped, the bundle expands and unfurls in a process that emulates a blooming flower, and the flowers inside emerge as the centerpiece. Typically they are sourced from the Yunnan province of China. Flowers commonly used in flowering teas include globe amaranth, chrysanthemum, jasmine, lily, hibiscus, and osmanthus.

Flowering tea in its current form was developed in China in the 1980s, and first became popular in Western countries in the early 2000s. Some sources state that the general concept of bundled tea leaves is several centuries old.

Flowering tea is generally served in containers made of glass or similar transparent materials so that the flowering effect can be seen. The bundles can usually be reused two or three times without the tea becoming bitter.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for an interesting account of flowering tea - I'd heard of this before, but never had it! I hope you get your date right with DH this evening.

Yesterday it stopped raining long enough for me to have a good session in my front garden,.and I also had a chat with Dnextdoorneighbour D about our roof verge. She ready knew there was a problem as Painter J had shown her a video he took of her roof before he left,.to show there was no damage there, and, of course.our disintegrating verge showed in that. A little "spin" from me saying I was worried about big bits of mortar starting to fall out if we left it and she's happy to accommodate scaffolding on her patio, and also happy that it will be done this summer/ autumn before the winter storms .:D I just need to chat with Dnextdoorneighbour C now, but the disruption wont be nearly as bad her side ( I just need to remember to buy a small box if grass seed and give her some compost when it's done,.so we can repair the two small holes.im her lawn from the ladder).

Today we're off to a slightly later start - DH had a very good time.eoth the men's group last nights and was late back. It's still very cold for June (the central heating actually kicked in yesterday evening), but today we have a sunny start, there's only a 20% chance of rain, and the wind has dropped :D I'm planning some time in my garden today. ( hnjljl .. 990 -Matilda's contribution!🐾) I must renew my library book, and I would like to do some little jobs like polishing.my.shoes and bag. The windows also need a clean, but I need to wait until it's definitely.go8ng to be dry,.and also for DH to vacate the office /spare room. (Maybe tomorrow?)
