Re: July CHALLENGE and Declutter Strategy, 2024
I've just realized I don't actually have a linen closet, either...LOL I have a broom closet rather packed with "stuff" All the towels are on shelves in the bathroom, and the linens in free standing wire storage baskets in the bedroom. We have WAY too many towels in the bathroom (a stack at the front of the shelf and a stack behind that that never gets used). The wire drawers of bedding are also full...some of the bedding we never use. Time to get a Value Village box and start filling it up

Re: July CHALLENGE and Declutter Strategy, 2024
Kitchen equipment day yesterday yielded two small appliances which were ready for the newlyweds to take away today. Also, a thermos and a cookbook.
Because of the past few days' work, I have space in a lower cabinet for the air fryer, unopened, that they insist we keep - they received two of them.
For today - This house does have an actual linen closet. Not very deep, shelved, and it opens on the middle of the hall, so that's my best guess as to its purpose! Plenty in there really is linens, but some items could go elsewhere. We'll see.
Extra attention:
They were here today working, and I got a lot done, too. I made up two boxes and a large tub for dd25 - totes/yarn, clothes, bedclothes. I used a pink notepad to make labels for them and just taped over. Since I didn't write on anything lasting, they can use them again. I hate it when HRH uses a sharpie directly onto containers that could be reused if the label could just peel off. We have the work of getting rid of the old twin mattress, way past keeping. Sigh. They are off with the truck but dsonil brings it back tomorrow.

Geesh I must be a mind reader
:
Just did my linen closet and all medical supplies under my sink. Plus I ent through my first aid stuff… bandage and things under my other guess bathroom sink.
Decluttered both my medicine closets and make up the other day as well
I only keep one set of sheets for each bed and got rid of most of my bath towels. I think I have six for the both of us. I have 7 or so face clothes because I use a clean one every day. They tend to get stinky fast in the Fl humidity and 5 hand towels. I do have two beach towels and 4 bathe towels I keep on a shelve outside for others to use.
I plan on going through my kitchen towel today as I have way too many and they are jamming up my drawers. I did my kitchen drawers last week including my junk drawer and well as both of my night stands.

Forgot to add… I have cabinets above my refrigerator. I keep my flower vases in it. I don’t keep anything on top of my fridge so they are easy to get to if I need one
I also don’t keep much on my counters… a coffee mat with the coffee machine on it and a decretive sign.
I also have a fruit bowl with a deceptive sign on one side of my stove and a container where I stick my spatula and stuff in along with another secretive sign.
I like to keep my counters as clutter free as possible. I also don’t have very many small appliances…slow cooker, hand mixer and a few other things.

I'm going to go through my big kitchen cupboards and get rid of the old crockpot (it works fine, but we have a bigger one), and some more Tupperware that I basically never usel I'm also going to drag out, clean off, check that they both work, and then list the extra two lawnmowers on Ki ji ji

Re: July CHALLENGE and Declutter Strategy, 2024
Large success -
We have a completely CLEAR small bedroom (dd's room is nude!) except for curtains we're just keeping up a few days. HRH has ordered curtains he likes from A-river. Ultimately, he will bring back in the previous chest of drawers, tv rolling cabinet. The only other piece will be a daybed for guests. for seating or an extra place for him on the nights he wanders trying to get comfortable. She left a twin mattress for that. The closet of this room - well, that is another story as dd continues to have more and more and more to take away. Dear me. She left here today with her car full.
She helped me with yesterday's make-up and skin care day decisions. Several things I thought she would want she tossed out, but she did leave with a quart baggie full of items.
Today's jewelry day was part of what was in her baggie. Wish I could tell you that it took more than a quart baggie to hold what she took out of the house, but neither she nor I are big on jewelry. She really doesn't want any more from me, and couldn't find any more that she'd left behind. I'm still considering the jewelry day situation.
Ramblin', that's a good reminder about kitchen towels. I may have some that are really ready to go into my cleaning supplies as rags. Another problem I recognize is potholders that are way too pretty for someone to have given me, so they are being "saved for good".
bittersweet, I'm thinking Ki ji ji is like a swap or pick-up offering? We left our old lawnmower for dd44's family when we moved here. By now, with all the repairs I've heard about, I fear she's just about paid for a new one since then, just keeping the old one up.
