Re: Health and Fitness December, 2024
Shortest day of the year. I am looking forward to longer days with more hours of sun.
I have three more holiday gatherings with family/friends. A week from today it will be back to normal doings.
I am continuing to tread water trying to not sabotage my efforts.

So sorry, RR! Hope you get it figured out. Too many treats this time of year? or just general tummy distress?
I need to get my weight entered into my spreadsheet. Haven't done since end of October, but my weight is down. This morning about 6.5 lbs below what I was regularly weighing in October.

Re: Health and Fitness December, 2024
I have observed that my body will respond to what I put into it. I am wondering if I notice the consequence from eating something different because I am older or because I am tracking my food so closely and consistently.
When I get gassy....I can look back and see I ate bread.
When my fingers swell & hurt ......I can look back and see that I ate sugar
etc. etc.
It is ridiculously predictable
Six more days of holiday happenings. I have my eyes set on Dec 28th to not being okay with status quo.

So sorry for tummy pain, RR. Hope it clears up so you can enjoy holidays.
LadyM, I wish I had your insight into the effects of what you eat. I know it's from tracking so carefully and listening to your body.
Dh just proposed going out to eat for breakfast but I still feel full from last night. One dneighbor brought the most amazing trifle, and we had (Costco from Juniors) cheesecake and homemade fudge from dh's client who makes it annually. Add it to a full bowl of chili and I'm good!
I updated my spreadsheet and I've lost 1.6 lbs since the first Zepbound injection four weeks ago. And as I've said, I'm not eating particularly well but 'tis the season. Once we're through my birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, dh's birthday, and New Years, I'll feel more focused. Got in 53700 steps last week so that was 7500 daily. May stick with that number this week. And I restart workouts on 7 January.

Re: Health and Fitness December, 2024
Generally, I wouldn't object to having lost weight, but it was too much since the treatment, so caused a slight stir at my appt yesterday. I had been disappointed in thinking I couldn't have my usual smoothie recipe because it includes K'Chava powder, a name-brand product with lots of whole-food ingredients. Dr said no supplements, and I had lumped the meal that into that concept (overreaction). But NP and nutritionist there agreed that I could have name-brand ready-to-drink shakes and recommended Orgain products and Kate's Farm products.
Back home when I looked them up, they seem very similar and even in competition with K'Chava, so I'm confused but pleased. Sitting with my smoothie now - five of my own fresh or frozen fruits, collard greens and homegrown broccoli sprouts, hempseed, almond milk and the powder.
Also, it's cold - feels good on the tummy. And much more like "myself" to have this breakfast.
A tip NP gave me - when someone's tummy is queasy, ask them to describe in taste-words how their tummy feels and look for an opposite food. For me it was "sour", common with this. She said therefore to get me to eat, we should look for tastes with a "sweet profile" and pointed to my appreciation for orange juice this past week as evidence.
I gained two pounds because they gave me fluids, which tells me I was starting to get dehydrated. Glad that is better.
Otherwise, a good appt with good news, I think, although there is so much information in the bloodwork that even with HRH there with me, it's hard to hold it all. My potassium is down, and I know from study that means I haven't had my good sources of veggies/fruits, so I'll be working on that.

(((Harriet)))) I think of you often as you go through this difficult treatment phase. You are doing a great job of being aware of all the parameters and making the best decisions for your body.
In home IV therapy - I don't know if this is available everywhere, but it has become popular in my little corner of the world. Many friends are using it when they are recovering from virus/flu or just not feeling their best. An appointment is made online to have RN come to your home and give an IV.
I am tip-toeing through the holiday season of carb overload. My one bite boundary is serving me well so far. I get to taste everything that is tempting me, but if I take a 2nd bite then I must record the food eaten into cronometer. 99% of the time I decide it isn't worth the hassle and am content with that one bite.
