I'm enjoying reading what others are doing in the kitchen and how decisions are made.

Ingredient prep today =
** Asparagus harvest, wash, eat some and put the rest into the freezer
** Lettuce, romaine chopped
** Beef, hamburger meat made into patties with melted cheese
** Biscuits - cheese & garlic red lobster style
** Prepare 7 mason jars of my breakfast protein drinks - Yogurt Greek, protein powder, blueberries smoothie
** Prepare filling for the next batch of stuffed jalapeno peppers.

Reviewing protein on hand ready to eat
** Chicken - 3 choices = Rotisserie, BBQ breast tenderloins, wieners
** Fish - 2 choices = Talipia fillets grilled, cod fillets breaded
** Beef = 1 choice - hamburger patties
** Pork = 3 choice - Hot link, bacon crumbles, ham sandwich slices
** yogurt = 3 choices - Greek plain, Greek flavored, lemon regular
** Eggs - 2 choices - hard boiled and raw

With my stove out of commission and new one not coming until Mon. after lunch
I am re-thinking my food prep. & options.

Methods discussed with dsis and others are crock pot.
Electric skillet / air fryer / toaster oven nope I did not have those.
I do have 4 sized of crock pots. There are some other options like fire pit fun cooking, microwave, and
the camp gear with propane / gas bottles.

And take out . . .
Dgd works at a take out spot I like.

I looked in the freezer and have cooked meat so used some of that last night.
I have chicken and pork.

Not cooked yet beef patties, chicken thighs, and fish portions.

I did use this as motivation to clean up the kitchen and clear counters.
Deck option is open as well I have a plug and cook station set up there ; and the patio has a work space area.

We brought home 3 pizzas from Sam's club deli yesterday. That is possibly the best bang for the buck in feeding teens. A huge pizza costs less than $9. It is also their favorite in taste.

Ingredient prep today =
** Asparagus harvest, wash, eat some and put the rest into the freezer
** Lettuce, romaine chopped
** Beef, hamburger meat made into patties with melted cheese
** Biscuits - cheese & garlic red lobster style
** Stuffed Jalapenos
** Deviled eggs

It's definitely challenging without a stove. I did it for a good 6 months or more when we built the rest of the house. I mostly used the grill. We bought a new one with a side burner. I could use it for a pot. Had a flat cast iron plate for pancakes etc. I think I had a rice cooker. And the instant pot. It worked but I couldn't bake anything.

I would not ever do that again on purpose living in the partially built house. Very stressful.

I think what I am getting from you all that I could feasibly do in easy change is at least take meat out in the morning. Ds 15 my chef is doing well. But lots of days we take meat out of the freezer at 5 or 6. And supper time is more like 730 or 8 i would like to be able to make that at least 630 or 7. Dh comes home before 630. Most days I'm done sooner but sometimes then too.

Lots of time It's meat and potatoes or rice or pasta. So if we could at least take meat out in morning that's half the battle.

So what I understand lady m is that you cook a protein and often there are other choices on hand with no cooking. Then everyone just has the protein or something else and whatever else they can find with it. Sounds like a very good way to accommodate.

My biggest struggle is that. I was kind of thinking my body would do better with less bread and pasta and more veggies and protein. I have a hard time with some gasy types of foods. But unwilling to cook 2 different meals. I already don't like cooking and deciding everyday. This could be doable one day.

For now I think I'll have a chat with my helper cook and see if we can start taking meat out in morning. Baby steps.

LauraL. Thanks you remind me I do have an instant pot I"ve not used in a long while.
When my kids were young and at home I used to take out meat for the next day and thaw it in the fridge.
I am grateful for the cooked food I have ready to heat up today.
It is a blessing.
There will be learning curve with the new range & oven but it is the same brand as I had before Amana.

You can do a lot with the instant pot. From roasted meat to rice. Pasta one pot dishes. Chili. Soup. Probably more. And set it like a crockpot if desired.

Well some days ds just automatically does the get the meat out in the morning. Some days he runs out of inspiration too. That's the last thing I want. I hardly cooked at all for a good year. Then he ran out of ideas too. I want him to choose to do it not make it his responsibility.

Saturday he took out ribs in the morning. Yesterday my parents came for supper and I actually went and bought fresh chickens. Today there's enough chicken in the fridge for lunches and probably a casserole for supper. And soup broth.

Dh purchased a rotisserie chicken at Costco on Friday and took the meat off the bones, so we have a container of chicken. He uses it for protein snacks, sandwiches and wraps.
