I am so glad you found us. Welcome. They told us they were going to close the other site so we moved here. It's still there to find everyone I guess

Re: Getting to know us ~ Getting to know you!
Hi. I found this forum by googling what happened to Peggy and a thread popped up! I literally discovered SHE and Flylady last week. I've been a slob my whole life. My mother had a problem with stuff. She grew up very poor in a large family and so she saved EVERYTHING . I never remember her cleaning anything but dishes. I grew up in clutter and thought it was normal, but I remember in middle school and high school being so embarassed at the thought of having anyone over. I got married in 2011. We moved into a house and both worked full time. Our house was cleanish but things definitely did not have a home. I had our first child in 2014 and then just felt in a blur during the baby raising years. Things were messy and we had too much stuff. I think I did try flylady at one point but was too exausted and overwhelmed . The past few years i've been ill and last year was the most stresful I've had- my husband's dad died, we got several boxes of his stuff that no one wanted to go through, we had a leak in a sunporch (we always had a leak but last year it turned into a flood and so it did get fixed but we had to box up everything ), we had a mouse invasion due to a hoarder house 3 houses down from us being torn down (we and several of our neighbors got mice at the same time; I threw out anything I thought could have been touched by them and boxed up stuff from the kitchen). My Dining room was wall to wall boxes and I made it my mission to clear things out so we could have 2024 Thanksgiving and Christmas in our home. It was a lot of work. I think I've hit rock bottom; i had emotional attachment to stuff, but now I just want the freeing feeling of a clean uncluttered home. I want to break the cycle for my kids to have healthier attitudes also. So I re-researched fly lady and found SHE! I think it could work for me so I'm setting up my cards this week. I've been doing a 31 day spring cleaning and when that ends I want to jump into the card system. I've watched so many cleaning videos to learn HOW to clean, from Mrs. Hinch to a local cleaning lady! I am reading Pam and Peggy's book and the Flylady's book and I'm ready to change. I'm glad I found people to talk to and to hold me accountable! I'm in NYC, Queens.

Hey, Joan! I'm glad you found us!
SHE forums have been around in one version or another for about 30 years. You'll find that we all have our version of following Pam & Peggy or FlyLady. What we value most is the camaraderie and support and friendship in the community here. Welcome to our online family.

Welcome, JoanThursday. As I read your introduction, I see so many problems that various ones of us have had. You are not alone.
I am a cardfile user and certainly recommend it for a calmer household. I've been thinking we need a dedicated nuts-and-bolts of the cardfile thread again. So many of us are so used to our cards that we don't discuss it enough on a basic level. Well below this thread on the board index, in the Organizational Tools and Skills forum, you will see "Cardfile Central" and soon I will try to set that up with a new topic there. I'm battling some aches and pains right now but hope to get better soon.
