Re: Tuna fish sandwich Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
A tuna fish sandwich, known outside the United States as a tuna salad sandwich or a tuna sandwich, is a sandwich made from canned tuna—usually made into a tuna salad by adding mayonnaise, and sometimes other ingredients such as celery or onion—as well as other common fruits and vegetables used to flavour sandwiches. It is commonly served on sliced bread.
Variations include the tuna boat (served on a bun or roll) and the tuna melt (served with melted cheese).
In the United States, 52 percent of canned tuna is used for sandwiches. The tuna sandwich has been called "the mainstay of almost everyone's American childhood."

Re: Tuna fish sandwich Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning ,Trissie, and thank you for starting us off. You certainly had a very busy day yesterday! What robo cleaner are you thinking of getting? (DF S is thinking of getting one, and has asked for help deciding , and I am clueless about them!)
Bama, I love hot , sunny, dry weather, (so long as I don't have to do too much!) but all too often here it turns very humid, which really said my energy. A cooler day yesterday was nice!
L.Ann, how wise to get laundry done in advance, so it's not there to deal with when you get home. Safe travels! Is DGD coming back with you to stay for a while?
Helian, the next stage of your holiday sounds lovely too! My DF P had her first baby by C-section at 35 weeks. (She'd had a very difficult pregnancy with pre eclampsia and before that had had 2 early miscarriages ). I remember how relieved we all were when she got to 25 weeks, because twins had recently been born in our city at 25 weeks and were doing well, and a singleton baby was likely to be bigger than twins. In the event little I was born healthy and weighing around 5 lbs. I remember her cry was like a kitten's mewing, but that soon changed!
That was 27 years ago, and today I is a happy healthy adult. And of course, medical treatments have moved on and progressed considerably in that time.
Dogged, its Tuesday here already, so that means tomorrow is Wednesday, and your last day at work!
Gma, how nice for you to have a low key day - you certainly deserve it! The doll's house is on pause for the summer. It's sort of finished, as I have all the pieces I need, but I still need to do all the little finishing touches, do some more research on the history of some of the furniture, and, of course, update my blog! That's scheduled for the winter when it's cold, dark and usually raining! Ive got quite a few bits and pieces left over, and I did even briefly toy with the idea of yet another dolls house, but we really dont have the space. So, I'm listing the surplus on eBay. If it doesn't sell in a reasonable time, then I'll donate everything to the charity shop, with a note enclosed about make, history, special details etc, so they can get the best price for it.
So, yesterday, I got another two boxes listed on eBay. My next task now is to wrap the contents of those four boxes, before I list any more! DH is understandably starting to complain about the space they're taking up in the kitchen - that is something I'm hoping to deal with while he's away, and, once it's all listed and wrapped, move everything down to the garage. I also managed to move the existing tallboy in our bedroom to its new space the other side of the bedroom. Ive had to do a very amount of tweaking, as, despite measuring very carefully, it still wasn't as easy as I had hoped it would be.
Today DH is WFH, so the next stage of furniture moving (the larger tallboy into our bedroom from the spare room) is on hold until he goes away tomorrow. He has announced his intention of sorting out his tools in the garage this W/E (he has acquired some really nice secure tool boxes for this purpose). It would be really nice if this happened, but I'm not holding my breath. So far, I've been
interrupted twice writing this, once with a request to know where the bin liners are (in the kitchen cupboard in their usual place - can't he just look?) and also for the dental floss picks. (I did get out of bed for this one and gave him a handful to be going on with).
Today's plans - walk, garden time, housework, think of something for supper and hopefully start wrapping some of those boxes. Here are also a couple of admin tasks that are becoming urgent!

Re: Tuna fish sandwich Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
I've taken Fred out, and also taken the last few bits of rubbish out before the dustmen arrived. So that's a win!
Had a discussion with DH about what time he wants to leave tomorrow - reminded him it's graduation week at the university, so we need to allow more time to drive through the campus.
Having my breakfast now, then I'll go for my walk. According to the forecast it's raining, but looking out the window we still have
, with no sign of dark clouds, so I think I'll get away with it.
Something has started beeping in the kitchen.
It's not the fridge/freezer/ CO detector or my phone, and DH has his devices upstairs with him. I don't think there's anything else important it can be, so I'll ignore it for now and go for my walk.

Well, the rain's held off for my walk and for my time in the garden.
Having lunch with DH now, then I'll get on with the housework.

Re: Tuna fish sandwich Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
kittykatt, I had to smile at dh interruptions asking where things are. I remember my dh asking same thing - and I wondered, how can we have lived here for 10 years and you don't konw? And then his frequent comments that he had put MY dishes away from the dishwasher. I replied to him, those dishes were wedding gifts to both of us, and you eat off them too!
trissie, thanks for the start - tuna sandwiches were not regular fare during my groing up. peanut butter and jelly (PB&J) were more common. then egg salad too. the NH were Mom is had tuna sandwiches a few nights ago. They were really good - well made. not too much mayo, some finely chopped celery and a little onion powder. And maybe just a tiny bit of sweet pickle juice? I dno't like then when they are too "juicy" and these were just right!
I'm at my mother's house today. the gas company promises to "come at the appointed tiem: anywhere between 8 am and 4 pm!
So I am here, waiting for 2 hours so far.
Accomplishments:
cleaned porch
vacuuming, including move the furniture. Her porch is big - about 20x16 feet - and she has lots of furniture
vacuumed crumbs off the upholstered breakfast chairs
cleared and washed table (dsis2 left several things on it after she was ehre for 3 weeks and returned home. Mostly for the wastebasket)
a few of d little Tutsi's toys (makes me sad) How she loved to play! What should i do with them - right now they are in her toy basket.
Thinking about how Jesus said "I am going to prepare a place for you" which was the Gospel text for a recent funeral, and thinking I am preparing the house for the next sibling who comes to see mother.
Next up is the kitchen
todo:
vacuum rug under K table
clean spot from dsis2 puppy
wash floor
change bag in vacuum cleaner
wipe off counters
take a water break for myself
(there's little food here, as no one here to eat)
go through mail that has come since I last filed
make bed in guest bedroom
put away things in mother's bedroom so it is neat, tidy, uncluttered, in case she ever comes to her house.
then think about how I can have a filing system as efficient as the one dsis3 set up for mother - and where in my house would I put it? The nice thing about mother's house is there's plenty of storage space, which is good because she has SO many things!

Re: Tuna fish sandwich Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
gma, I used to make myself tuna sandwiches for lunch at work two jobs ago (when I lived and worked in the city and regularly spent my lunchbreaks going over work documentation in the cafeteria to avoid even more overtime). Haven't had them in ages, though now I really crave one (a homemade, that is - I sometimes buy them in the supermarket for a lunch/dinner on the go)
kittykatt, we are weather twins today! Grey and rainy today here.
Peeking in from after work. Today and tomorrow are my long days - 7:30 till 5:00. Two 9-hour days allow me to take Friday off, and DH is working from home overseeing the kids. I admit I am kinda stalling, I could already go home, but there's gonna be madness when I get there, so here I am
TaDas
- to work reasonably on time
- completed Q2 reporting
ToDos
- quickie store-stroll in the mall at the bus station
- deal with madness and routines at home
- dinner
