Helia - I have never visited UP but have been watching vlogs and utube videos about the area. It is so beautiful and full of history. It is currently my virtual vacation spot when I get overwhelmed and want to take a break.

Getting back on track.

32 SHE cards completed.

I just woke DS18 up from a nap and told him to finish his schoolwork. Ugh! Since DS17 has a medical appointment today, he's not working, which means he has no motivation to get his homeschool assignments done on time. He has IGAD syndrome. He mentioned that Trey is coming over this afternoon to hang out, so I reminded him that Trey will be kicked out if DS17 doesn’t finish his schoolwork. I guess I win the mean homeschool teacher award today.

I need to get DS17 school work graded before I pick DD14 up from school. I will be taking her to the city for counselor appt this evening which means we will be eating out afterwards. I also have a prescription to pick up from pharmacy and want to buy cold/frozen things while I'm at Sams.
Chop! Chop! Things need to keep moving or they won't get done. DS17 is slowing me down.

Ramblin', with those symptoms, it is very good to get in for that appt today and learn what dr thinks. Hoping you learn more and maybe whether there is any alarm about it for doctor or par for the course, plus when doctor thinks you can expect to be over these symptoms. My experience with antibiotics being prescribed repeatedly (in case that happens to you) was that starting to take probiotics was helpful. That doctor (who was wise at least in that instance) mantra was, "when you hear antibiotics, you think probiotics". Also garlic is tried and true through centuries for respiratory healing. (Is this respiratory healing? Maybe)

Lots of banging and bumping on top of roof here. A helper came and stayed an hour and left, so I guess there are varying parts to this work.

Made brunch thinking I was missing only one ingredient so we would still like the meal. Sigh. Had to end up cutting around parts of both types of peppers to get close to a reasonable amount of those but not really enough. A hassle. Then (bagged) spinach was iffy. I think we are sometimes getting produce that is not very fresh and going out of date quickly. I don't really look forward to grocery shopping although it will help with food trust. It will also wear me out, I'm sure.

There was an extra morning prayer meeting online and I was able to be watching or at least listening for most.

I can honestly say brothers wife/ sis in law - She was so relaxed (so her old self) and we had a great time. She sounded free and happy - first time in a long time! . I hope she is. She stayed from 10:30 to 1:30 and we all visited and laughed etc. Mom thoroughly enjoyed it. The nice thing was that mom couldn't play the favorites game with sis and law. We all were relaxed. dd's were both here and they both remarked on what a nice time we all had. (dd older is waiting for her pick up to the air port)

Our visit was truly lovely. She brought us stuff from the farm and we will be spoiled.

We think My brother seemed a bit nervous that she was coming here - He didn't know that she had spoken to us ahead of time -and double checked that I knew. glad I am keeping all his stuff out of our home (if possible). I am not taking sides and I am so happy I didn't.

She has always loved my mom - and it was good for her to spend time with her. I don't think she hears all that is happening with mom. I will write more often so she knows.

I want to say hi individually - and will soon
waving to all of you!!!!
dd is leaving for the airport.

Well, I started with great plans, but after ds called me around 10:00 a.m., I went to sleep again, and didn't wake up till NOON.

HOWEVER -- lest you judge me TOO harshly -- after I posted at almost 2:00 a.m., I got myself in gear and did a lot before I finally settled down. (around 5:00 a.m. I truly am functioning with my days and nights mixed up.)
* emptied dishwasher, put some items in it and washed the others that were left in the sink
* did allergy shots
* refilled meds for this week (one of the reasons I have to go to the drug store)
* put away ALL dgrands' clothes, and gathered a bag of socks that dgs needs to take home. (He wears socks to church and school, but the first thing he does when he comes in the house is take off shoes and socks, so even though he told me they bought LOTS of socks, if he never wears them home, he's going to run out soon!)
* PUPA in the den -- legos, afghans, etc.
* caught up on Bible reading
* read a little bit in e-library book (I now have two books going at the same time, but e-library book will disappear soon, so I have to make time for it. The other, I purchased for kindle app. I also have at least one book that I started but didn't finish still lying on my nightstand.)

I think that's all I did, but it made it easier to get out of bed when I finally woke up!

Today, I have the sheets in the dryer and the towels and underwear in the washer.
Need to go to the drug store and post office, and to pick up ds and dgd for the ballgame tonight.
FIRST, need to finish putting on make-up, etc. DS is picking up dgd. She will be as thrilled to see him as that little girl in the St. Jude Hospital commercial -- "Daddy, Daddy! We MISSED you!!!"
Tomorrow is another day.

Making progress.

** Homeschool assignments are finished and graded.
** Too much IMHO time spend discussing and deciding on selling DS17 05 Duramax pickup. The title and insurance is in our name so even though he bought it, legally it is ours.
** DH bought another subscription on the TV. He doesn't realize what he is doing. Thankfully they email to congratulate us on our new subscriptions. I go and cancel it. I haven't found a way to restrict his ability to buy these monthly subscriptions to various channels. I think it can be done on the roku but I need to stop and spend the time to find the change and implement it. later....another day. btw ....DH is mortified that he keep doing it. He offered to stop watching TV so it won't happen again. I want him to continue to be the tv remote operator but I just need to put some safety boundaries around his button punching.
** Called and left message with new doctor office for DD14 autism testing. I cannot get a person to take call or call back from either autism testing site. I have heard it is a 2 year process and it seems like that lengthy process is going to turn out to be true.

mom and helper are asleep. I got a pillow and a blanket for her bc she was so tired. she is only 46 but her care broke down and she had to travel an hour and a half to her daughters house to borrow her car and drive back. Glad I could help.

dd younger is outside with her dog - she had the other dogs outside but it was too hot for the labs.

I am going to order some groceries

blessed, happy to hear the day was so nice for all. Safe travels to ddolder.

lucylee, I know that little girl. I like her spontaneous greeting to her dad. The little boy (not so little now) who said, "this a-DOR-able blanket" is a spokesperson for Shriners Hospital who couldn't be more enthusiastic. I especially was taken by the part of that advertisement in which the even younger boy that said if the phones were busy, well then, please wait patiently! HRH doesn't see why it is that expectant phrase that makes me listen. It just seems so obvious - the children also ask that you wait patiently if you need to. How very sensible. Btw, HRH will turn off the sound or even change channels when the animal donations commercials come on - he says he just can't take it.

The verdict, so far, for our chimney troubles -
the mortar at the top eventually had cracked and someone started using a method that was popular for a time, of spreading tar over the mortar as a sealant. Problem with that is that tar also develops cracks over time, but rather than being visible like the cracks in mortar, it is very hard to see/follow those cracks for repairing. Eventually, water is chasing gravity down both sets of cracks, causing damage to anything lower. These fellows took all tar off, which was time consuming. When down to the original mortar, they built up another layer of mortar over it, this time using more modern mortar that, in theory, will stand up to weather longer. And even when it does someday crack, you can see that it has happened and exactly where, for repair.

He wants to go up into our attic tomorrow morning at 9. Sigh. That means tomorrow morning at 8 I must start evicting everything from the closet that has the attic access. Why, oh why, did the builder put the attic access in a place that takes so much work to clear just because you want to go up there. It's why we never ever store anything in the attic. My dfirstmil's house was the same age but had the attic access in the hallway and she really used the attic space well.
