We have some similar creatures around here, Doggedly, except no moose -- though they are in our state -- just farther north. We have several different species of squirrels (really a pest but a cute one) - small red ones, larger gray-red ones, and black ones, also: rabbits, chipmunks, ground hogs (always lots of them), mice, voles, stoats (or minks? or both? Not sure which it was that I've seen) and raccoons -- not my favorite. And skunks - also not a favorite. Beavers and some sort of river rat live near the ponds/ rivers here. We have too many deer. . . Canines - we have the occasional coyote pack here in the city; we can hear them yapping in the distance sometimes. We're in a wooded area -- well, a lot of this city is wooded. And an occasional fox, though I haven't seen one for a good year or so. We have seen black bears up north in our state but not in our city. We also have a lot of birds. There are several flocks of wild turkeys wandering around our neighborhood. They can be a nuisance when they parade in the street and stop cars. Or wake one up early in the morning with their awful gobbling racket. LOL! We have hawks, peregrine falcons (lots - an invasive species here) and since we're close to a river, we also have ducks (mostly mallards, occasionally a wood duck) too many Canadian geese, and swans - lots of Mute swans and a few Trumpeters, which are my favorite. We see bald eagles fairly regularly in our state when we go up north. And we have the typical owls, woodpecker species, chickadees, and other common birds like robins, cardinals, blue jays, crows, ravens, etc. We do NOT have a lot of snakes.

OK - that was fun for me to think about!!

It is almost 9:30 and I'm very tired and I think I'm going to go to bed and get up early. I'm going to update health apps and do duolingo first.

I still need to finish slides for class tomorrow + finish the syllabus - for tomorrow morning.

I’ll take all the furry critters. I’m enjoying the chat too. We have a lot of animals in the woods but I don’t see many (foxes, coyotes, bears, rats, mice, turkeys, owls, bald eagles, hawks…). Possums, raccoons, and armadillos are very common but I only see them if they get in the chicken yard and walk into a trap. That area is off limits for them. The birds I see most in the feeders are cardinals, several dove varieties… I’m looking forward to the bird migration to see what we get. We had a woodpecker but I haven’t seen him in months.
One time I saw something fuzzy eating out of my compost pile. Thinking it was a kitten I walked up to it. I shocked a small possum and it shocked me lol. That was one of my first run ins with nature living here.

Done:
Bible
Weigh
Water 💧💧💧💧💧💧💧💧
Eat breakfast, lunch, supper
Brush - Toby, Jeremy
Pet chores - feed, water, litter
Dremel dogs nails - got both front paws on both dogs but it wasn’t easy. Nails are looking nicer though.
Dust
Spot clean floors
Vacuum
Went through moms recipe boxes
Load and run dw
Shine sink
Brought in packages delivered for dh
Log meals
Shower, wash hair
Cooked, clean up kitchen, unload, load, run dw again, wiped down counters, put away leftovers
Start load of laundry - mop done, 2 chair covers done and back on chairs, couch cover back on, chaise cover in washer
Tidy/declutter ~
*kitchen cooked cabbage casserole and mixed greens, chicken thawing, tossed empty cheese stick box and added cheese sticks to grocery list, dusted fake figs and put in cloche, tidied my snack area, decluttered piece of cake in my belly…
*dining room went through some cookbooks, duplicate in box to go to Hollywood along with some other items that need to go there, wrote out recipe from the a sweet older lady in the 1980s that is fading, recipe boxes put on shelf, …
*laundry room tidied shelf and sink area some
*living room put away poster, small rugs, put covers on furniture

Our list of critters is more like helia's. A possum or an armadillo would be quite exotic here.

Dh traps at least one a month so I’m more than happy to send both of you some. :P

Other than one cover in the dryer, I’m done for the night. Sweet dreams.

Interesting animal discussion. We are way north. Not to polar bears lol those are only in the arctic. We have moose and deer. Several kind of bears. Foxes . One tried to follow us and chatted with Casper. Bears have destroyed my apple tree. I don't think we have raccoons. Squirrels yes. Similar mostly. Though I much appreciate there's not anything poisonous.

Yes doggedly where you are October is probably harvest time. We have a very weird inland higher altitude climate and our growing season is even shorter than northern Alberta. I'm actually quite surprised it hasn't frozen yet. But my tomatoes do need more time some of them are still making blooms. They would have been ok outside last night but now they are in here and I gave them all spots. Hopefully they'll keep going.

Only thing that is a downside of garden season.... fruit flies. They're being prolific in here. I need to set up another trap. It's working. Apple cider vinegar. I think that's probably what is in the commercial traps we sell. I put some in a jar with a paper cone on top so they can't get out. My kitchen feels a little ewww from the flies atm.

Tomorrow is half scheduled. I have a dental cleaning at 830 so take ds to school just a few minutes early. Then massage at 1. Oh and next week Wednesday I got a follow up appointment with the gynecologist. Have to drive to the bigger town for that but it's not a big city so if I have to i can do it on my own. Wonder if D wants to come along again. Or maybe I will take a day trip on my own.

My dog is pretending he's a laughing hyena. Chatter yelling at me for belly rubs I think 🤔

I'd love to see an armadillo, Bama, but I don't think that it would enjoy the trip.

I forget that where you are in BC makes all the difference, Lauralind.

When it's done, you can tell us all about it, Gma.

I have wrapped up the chicken carcass and frozen vegetable scraps in cheesecloth, and filled the slow cooker with vegetables and broth. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow.

Good night!
