I've been busy as a bee getting the LR prepared, to a blank-ish slate of decor, for dgdC to arrive. It will be so tempting for both of us, to get into textiles, but we need to concentrate on just getting that tree done and the decor that is actually IN the Christmas storage boxes - not pulling out quilts and other cloth items. That way, the storage boxes can be gone, put back out of the way of next projects.
Interesting that blessed has Charlie Brown on - maybe it would be fun for me to manage some audio while we work. Thinking. She'll be here at 4:30.
The smoothie last evening was so good. An odd time for me to have it, but the greens and fruits were pleasant, and I slept like a baby. Ease of digestion, perhaps? Watched The GBBaking Show with HRH while having that - admiring the cakes and pastries while eating the opposite, lol.
Cathy, I'm with you on needing to keep my writing at a reasonable size for readability. My dmother could manage handwriting so small that what I might put on a sheet of notebook paper she could get onto a 3x5. Readable. Primary schoolteacher abilities.
LadyM, maybe we are kin. Or at least weird together. On my maternal side, high number for cholesterol just WAS, and went right along with high number for longevity, too. My dear aunt, who loved science and experiments, was scrupulous with doctor-advised cholesterol diet yet didn't make a lot of difference in her number compared to identical twin. However, of course, it was good for her in general, and she did achieve some number difference and was glad she did it. I have questioned doctors about Familial label, but none want to say so. HRH's cholesterol is always better than mine and he marvels at that, wondering how he does it since I'm the fastidious one, but I beat him on triglycerides every time. Inherited tendencies would explain some of that, IMO. Your research into beans and cholesterol a few years back prompted me back to daily beans like my ddad, who firmly believed in them.
Beans, beans,
Good for your heart,
The more you eat,
The more you Beans, beans,
The musical fruit,
The more you eat,
The more you Beans, beans,
The more that you eat,
The better you feel
On the toilet seat.
There's a possibility I'm a little punchy at the moment. Perhaps not poetry to blessed's high standard.

Bed sheets are in the dryer. The 2 older cats are both sleeping on the bed right now. The bed can be made later. Actually all 3 cats are sleeping in the bedroom. Baby (4 years old) is in the laundry basket that just has a couple of small blankets in it, and I refer to it as her crib.
Dh is talking to ne of them, so the bed is now half empty.
I have been cross stitching on and off for most of the day. Dh is watching the Bills game.

Re: Sunday, Secure about Where We Are
Our shrubs are trimmed and everything bagged up. ***Big sigh of relief** With 4 of us working it didn't seem to be that big of a deal. I was surprised to finish this project in about an hour. If I had been doing it by myself, it would have easily taken me 4 hours (or more).
DGS28 was happy when I showed him the ready-to-eat stash and gave him the option of choosing something or I would cook for him. He picked Honey BBQ chicken nuggets and Enchiladas for his meal.
DD14 is on top of the world. Tickets went on sale a couple hours ago for the final episode of show that she loves. I was able to snag a couple tickets to BFDIA 23:and a shirt for her. DD14 almost never ask for anything, so it makes me happy that we were able to make this December 1st event happen.
After enjoying hours of socializing and fun, I need to switch gears and take care of boring business. Homeschool lessons need to be planned and assignments made. Dreaming.....this time next year I won't be doing homeschool. This is the LAST TIME I will be making homeschool plans the week before Thanksgiving. [/i
Yes to beans! I eat them almost daily.

Re: Sunday, Secure about Where We Are
I left a long post downstairs on that computer. Short version - I've worked on the yard. Got last of dead stuff out of raised beds in back, and cleaned up at least part of dead tomatoes on the ground. Neighbors frenchies have been mad to munch on them, lol. Of course, they poop in our yard too so a lot of it comes back to us, lol. In front of the house, took out dead plants from freeze last week. Took out one boston Fern that isn't happy, but left one that it. It should be okay until a hard hard freeze. Wish I could overwinter it but they leave such a mess.
Dh not in a happy mood, whatever.
Now I've been upstairs awhile. Going to go walk the dog. I think we're grilling brats for our supper. Not my favorite - too greasy. I'll have a veggie with mine.
I still need to make up this day bed in my workroom. Also need to strip and wash sheets on guest bedroom bed; dcleaning lady can make it back up on Thursday. I've needed it made up nearly every two weeks when she's been here....

Re: Sunday, Secure about Where We Are
Lost a post.
Anyhow, yesterday was girls’ night, so I spent much of the early part of the day working on my food contribution. It occurred to me to worry that there might not be any sweets, so I looked up a recipe for green tea coffee cake and made that before making my green beans. (This month’s theme is that we were all to make recipes from the same book, but we weren’t supposed to tell each other which we were making.) As it turned out, there were plenty of sweets: besides the coffee cake, there was a butternut squash cake, chai blondies and citrus brownies, and a pear cake with toffee topping, topped additionally with ice cream. Dinner included the green beans, a lentil/shallot stew, roasted potatoes, butter bean Parmesan crisps, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was tasty. We also set up paperwhites to force, hopefully for Christmas. And then we settled in to talk… and talk… and talk.
I was parked in, so I ended up staying more than an hour later than I really wanted to leave.
So, a very full day. Today was much less busy. We went to church, had brunch, went to get DH the new shoes we didn’t get last weekend, picked DC up from their girlfriend’s, and now we’re watching football. Well, I’m half watching. Hmm… since we didn’t get anything during halftime, I think we might not have our usual Chinese until after the game. I am feeling peckish right now. Alas.
Wondering if Cathy’s DH is going to watch the Grey Cup tonight.

Re: Sunday, Secure about Where We Are
Hi Mystery. Yes, he is watching. He's also watching the Kansas City game. Switching back and forth between them. He was very happy that the Bills won earlier. It's been a very "football" day, plus it's Sunday, so not a lot going on. Ah, here come the Canadian National Anthem.
Moments later...
I got a lot of laundry done today, considering I didn't think there was going to be a lot. Everything off the bed including a small pillow, Towels and facecloths, and then dh asked for a heavy blanket to be done as well.

Mystery, that sounds delicious and adventurous with "citrus brownies", "green tea coffee cake" and "butter bean Parmesan crisps"! I hope the paperwhites adopt the prescribed schedule.
Twins', it's nice you had a pretty day for getting outdoor projects done.
Nancy and blessed, happy times with family today - very cool.
Ramblin', are you feeling better?
Smiling at Cathy's baby cat sleeping in the basket.
Lots of fun with dgdC decorating the tree. She untangled all our hooks carefully - that was a lot of help! Listened to my stories about her dad's and her aunts' various handmade ornaments from their childhoods, and about which ancestor made which crocheted or Crewel embroidered ones. When her dad came to pick her up, she pointed out the ornaments he'd made.
Afterwards, given her choice of snacks, she had white grapes and Jello with apple juice.
The living room looked great earlier, downright prim. But full of boxes now. I'll get the decor I want to use this year out of them and ask HRH to put them back.
My goodness, that Crewel embroidery is lovely. I should open up the hatbox that contains all the ones that weren't finished by my aunt and take a look. She valiantly taught me that type of embroidery when I was young and I was definitely all thumbs. I think by now I may turn out to be better at it. Definitely something for after the holidays.
