Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
Harriet, there's also restaurant lasagne. One of our fav restaurants has a "Take and bake" option, or you can pick it up hot for serving. We've done it when we didn't want to cook, or dh has picked one up (have to order ahead) for clients who have had a death in the family. They can bake at will or freeze at that point if needed.
Upstairs. I really really don't want to look at DAR citations today but must.
I have an alarm set for the Zoom meeting. OTOH, my mentee is submitting her portfolio in parts - an option that wasn't open to me three years ago. So she'll be continuing on. Do I want to continue? I like her, I feel like she's perhaps not going to pass, but until she gets results I guess we slog on. Unless I want out?

Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
Guess what dh and I decided on for supper tonight before 9 a.m.? Before any of you mentioned it, we decided on lasagna which is currently in the large freezer. It only takes an hour to bake "from frozen".
With the wind howling, I made the decision to stay home from this afternoon's knitting/fiber group. The temperature when I woke up this morning was 7 degrees C. It is now at 0 Celcius. Temperature dropped and wind has really picked up and it poured rain earlier, so I'm staying home. I will just have to mail stuff tomorrow if they (post office) are open or on Monday if they aren't open. I will also drop off gift to the owner of the store where I go on Fridays tomorrow. Dh can also drop off the box of chocolates to our friend.
Dh and I both went back to bed this morning and we both slept for a couple of hours. Soft pillows and cuddly blankets. All 3 cats are also sleeping.

Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
I made up a casserole type meal for the family. The way my brain thinks....
**What happens if I take that box of Zatarain's Cheddar Jalapeño Cornbread Mix that has been sitting on the pantry shelf for a couple months and start adding ingredients to it?
** What could I add?
** Hum....There is a pound of hamburger meat in the defrosting tray ready to be used. I'll cook it while waiting for the oven to preheat.
** With no idea if it will work.....I throw mix, milk, egg, double amount of cheese and a lb of ground beef into the pan and put it in the oven for 30 minutes.
** Thankfully it seems like it came out okay and receiving double thumbs up from those who have tried it. Since it has gluten I don't eat it, but I asked if there was anything that would make it better and was told to not change a thing. It is just right the way it is.
Meanwhile, I'm over here enjoying a pint of my favorite soup.

Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
Good afternoon! I guess I'm ahead of the game -- we had lasagna last night!
I've just met my houseguest, who seems to be nice. I offered to get them something to eat, but they said they weren't hungry, so I'm not going to force-feed them.
I have a Christmas sweater, but I don't think it's ugly. It's a black cardigan with poinsettias on the yoke. I used to have an unofficial Christmas sweater that could have been called ugly -- it certainly was loud. It was red with an abstract design in green, yellow, and blue. Not really a Christmas sweater, but I wore it as such. Glad to hear Nancy has such fun with hers.
Went out this morning and picked up some presents I'd ordered along with ingredients to make DD her birthday pie. Turns out our houseguest, according to DD, doesn't really care for mint or pie.
Well, we have ice cream....
Ordered a pomegranate for DC, and when I got home, I discovered that what they gave me was a red onion. Right size, shape, and color, but very different. I don't think DC is likely to eat it.
Checked my receipt, and I was charged for a pomegranate. Hmph. But not worth going back out in the cold and the wind. It is 23F here with a wind chill of 6; (-5 and -14C).
Harriet, I have had lasagna for Christmas before.
Well wishes for blessed and LadyM's sick daughters.
The service sounds lovely, Twins. I think I'd be right there with you in taking a plate home. Peaceful service and a yummy dinner without the crowds.
Be careful if ice develops, Cathy!
I am trying to keep quiet for the sake of the folks still sleeping. Debating whether or not to do my post-lunch exercises. I don't think it'll disturb anyone as long as I keep the volume down on the computer. After that, once I've cleaned up my lunch, I'll go throw a load of wash in. Somewhere in there, I should go say "good mornternoon" to DC.
Have a great day, everybody!

d lady - (((you sweet not feeling well dd)))
I finished (terribly but done) the closure in the family room where all the wind and cold was streaming through -happy that it is done bc the plastic cover was loose and all the cold came in during the wind storm. - I think everyone will be happy when I take a wood working class in February
I have to learn how to measure correctly and then write it down before I cut it!
next clean up after all the cutting materials
I worked in family room for a bit - continuing on soon - banner held high to lift that room back to where it should be!
hello d mystery good afternoon. welcome to your house guest! your sweater looks lovely! yay on presents and getting ingredients for your dd's pie. I used to make a mint ice cream pie in the 80's - Oreo crust, mint ice cream and a chocolate sauce on top (it was supposed to have peanuts on it but we stopped that) - my father in law really liked it.
they gave you a red onion - lol oh my goodness --- also stay warm!!!!
hi d lady! the casserole sounds very good and savory!
hi d cathy yay on having a lasagna in the freezer! stay warm! we had that cold a few days ago - we are now 17 degrees - it went to 40 yesterday - our snow melted. Stay cozy!!! I am glad you got to snuggle and rest for a bit!
hi d twins. lasagna must be on everyones mind! I like that you can take and bake it!
enjoy your zoom meeting!
hi d harriet thank you for setting up the thread! hard to fathom it's that time of year still - hope you find something you love to serve!
hi d Nancy so fun about your sweaters! what a sweet grandson!
hope you stop being sore!!!
waving to everyone

Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
We're all so busy today! I finally got through all those citations and things and emailed Dropbox link back to registrar. I need to be at temple probably by 5:30ish or earlier. I also did an Instacart order for tomorrow a.m. delivery.
I need to s2s, dog is outside again. She's possessed with the cat that is roaming. I'm glad she's out in the sunshine but I hate to leave her out while I shower...I guess I'll take the chance and do it...

Re: Ugly Christmas sweater day!!
I had to go out to the garage to grab the lasagna, and I discovered that it wasn't that cold out and the driveway and roads are dry. Decided to get my coat on and drive to the post office. Only 1 person in line in front of me. So now all 2 of the cards that we mail are on their journey.
I also discovered that the furnace in the garage has been keeping the dust and dirt and sawdust warm and cozy for the past 6 days!
Asked dh if the furnace was on out there for any special reason. He said no and that he forgot to turn off the switch. Oh, well... like I said, the dust and dirt and sawdust are cozy.
Blessedw2 remember this... "measure twice, cut once" and don't measure the pull tab, measure the measuring tape. Sometimes that teeny bit extra will mess you up. (depends on how much give there is in the pull tab). Oh, if you buy a carpenter's pencil, don't just buy 1, buy 2. One to use, one to lose. Thankfully they aren't expensive.
I also made half of the tube of Pillsbury's gingerbread cookies. Dh only had 2, so I am happy about that.
