LadyM, yes, we've been hoping for an OK win for a while here in lucyland. But so far, the Sooners better step it up. They had a 17 point lead and let Alabama tie it up by halftime. SMH...
Ugly Sweater. I have a few ugly Christmas sweaters, but I did not wear one today. I have a new Christmas sweater that I got compliments on Wednesday at dmom's doctor's appointment -- it is just solid red and says: "Probably just gonna jingle part of the way. I'm tired."
Today I wore a new baby blue sweatshirt and y'all -- product recommendation: This is the softest, coziest sweatshirt I have ever owned. DGD commented on it. It feels like being wrapped up in your favorite blanket. The best thing is, it was only $12.99 at WALMART. It is Moshu brand and has side splits and kinda an "X" sewn in at the neck, if you're looking for it online. The fabric is 95% Polyester and 5% Spandex, and y'all know, I am normally a 100% cotton girl -- but I promise, this sweatshirt feels
amazing.
Cathy... Brrrr... It was in the 50s F here today, but windy and it felt cold to me. Rain at 32 can quickly turn into ice (or maybe snow?) so you may get a white Christmas, right? We very seldom have a white Christmas and will certainly not have one this year -- the predicted high is 72 degrees!
I need to empty the dishwasher and do some dishes also.
We had rain and howling winds last night. With DGS asleep on the couch, I left the trees on and like you said, it seemed so snug. I started to sleep in the recliner just to have the comfort of the tree lights.I may do that on Christmas Eve.
Y'all, DGD and I ate at Subway -- she had a 6" turkey sandwich and baked chips -- and when we got home after an hour or so she said she was still hungry. Since then she has eaten THREE cans of mini ravioli and a bowl of rainbow sherbet. Oh -- and two of the "Cuties" mandarin oranges. I don't want her to get chubby, but I don't want to deprive her of food when she says she's starving. She spent half an hour or more doing gymnastic moves and having me "judge" her as if she were in the Olympics, and she's been jumping on her trampoline today, but my goodness she seems to eat a lot.
I've been to the grocery store, post office (twice) today -- second time to mail a card to a couple in Sunday School who sent me a card today. They weren't on my list! So I had to get one back in the mail for them quickly!
But I was late starting the day and still haven't really done all my "morning" routine. It is just so hard for me to get going when dgrands are here.
DGS spent last night, and he wasn't feeling too well -- after we ate supper, he fell asleep on the couch and slept from about 6:00 pm until 5:00 AM. THEN he was wide awake and it was all I could do to keep him from talking to me and convince him to let me sleep till 9:00. (I had not closed my eyes until almost 4:00 AM.) At 9:00 am we went to McD's for breakfast, came home, and I slept some more. I've really got to change this routine. I don't really have to be up early most of the time, but when dgrands are here and they do need me to be more attentive earlier in the day, I need to be able to be "present." The only way to fix this is to change my pattern.
Blessed, I hope DD feels better soon and doesn't have a bad case of Covid. That's rough, here at Christmas. Were y'all planning to get together with extended family next week?
Also thinking of your dmom, and hoping she has better health through the holidays.
dh is serving and accepting compliments and busy
I have to LOL, Twins. (((HUGS)))
LadyM... y'all just let Alabama take the lead... I just saw your post about keeping up with the score for LordM. Believe me, the lucylee family is cheering for your Sooners, but so far, it's not going well.
Harriet, I considered that my bunch would probably appreciate spaghetti for Christmas, but since we are used to breakfast as our meal with dmom, I guess we'll try it at the Waffle House. No law that we have to do it this way forever. Cinnamon rolls and gifts afterwards at dmom's will keep it feeling a little more like our usual tradition.
As y'all know, I've been depressed about changing so many traditions this year, and I started to put tags on the dgrands' teddy bears that said, "From Granddaddy in Heaven," but when I asked DS if that was too morbid, he said, "Well, it's a little morbid..." So I'm not going to do that. There was an older man, retired minister, who used to send post cards from his travels to his friends at the bank where dmom worked. He always signed his cards, "John, and Mary in Heaven." I thought that was sweet, but if DS thinks it's morbid, I won't do it.
Sending "feel better soon" wishes to LadyM's DD.
I LOVE Stouffer's lasagna, Nancy!
Good grief, y'all were on page 2 by 10:30 this morning. I am such a slug.
I don't blame you for staying in with the pomegranate, Mystery. It is too cold!
"One to use, one to lose." I like that, Cathy.
When this ballgame is over, I have to s/s the kitchen and then I am going to type the church meeting minutes. I am determined to get that done tonight! DGD has had her bath and is in bed already, so she'll be getting me up early in the morning... but I still plan to get this church work done before I go to bed! I will also take my shower tonight so I can start the day whenever she forces me out of bed, LOL.
I have written a little more about the child I mentioned in J&C. I can't keep my mind off him and his family. It is such a heartbreaking situation and
I just keep thinking of him. Please do pray for him and his family.
Well, LadyM, they have a 10-point lead now... maybe OK will wake up for the 4th quarter!
EDITING -- OK just scored! Three point game!
EDITING AGAIN -- Nope... AL is ahead again... 10 points ahead. Y'all have a little less than 6 minutes to turn this thing around.
-- OTOH, the child I wrote about in J&C is a big AL fan. Maybe he is watching this game and if it brings him some happiness tonight, that's good. There's a video on his mother's FB page where some of the AL players met him and prayed with him.
