Tinsel Tuesday

It's 230pm. I have simmered the 'brew' for the rye bread, and it has been cooling while I delivered plates of cookies and visited with dfDH whose wife recently died, delivered gifts and cardamon braid to dfA&P, who lived next door to mother for 50 years before moving to assisted living, just cookies to dfBS, and just bread to ds and family.

I came home to a little package in the mail from ds3: one of those awful cellulose pretend dish cloths (Can you tell I hate them for using?) But it made me laugh. It says, It's officially FLOUR IN EVERY PART OF THE KITCHEN Season!
And yes, it's time to clean up yesterday's flour in every part of the kitchen, so I can get going on more flour everywhere! I measured out enough brew for 6 loaves of bread - that will require lots and lots of kneading. But it will sure taste good!

Hi, all. We are having a lovely white Christmas snow today. I had planned to watch my movie last night and then coast today, as all of my Christmas ducks are in a row. But how do we make the gods laugh? That's right. Make plans.
Last night I did buy my hostess gift plant from Home Depot (a red kalanchoe) and two other plants that I couldn't resist. I sat down to watch my movie but couldn't find it. I scrolled all around the PVR settings and finally redid the scheduling search. That's when I realized that Die Hard is going to play at 8:00 pm on New Years Day, not last night, LOL.
That's fine. I carried on doing FACE as I had planned, and I have been on an emotional roller coaster since. I saw a withdrawal from my account that was large enough to cover my rent. The bank had categorized it as "Insurance." I called the bank's fraud number to get information and they said that it came from the hotel I stay at when I visit my brother. I confirmed that I do stay at that hotel, and left things like that with the bank. But of course, in my mind I've been stressing out about whether a fraudster has gotten access to my bank account.
I waited until today when full staff would be around to call the hotel. The receptionist could only give partial information, but gave me the email address to write to, and assured me that she would talk to her superiors so that they know to expect it.
And then I spent the rest of the afternoon going over and over my credit card and bank statements for the past three months. I was so sure that I had paid the charge already, and even noted the amount but now I can't find any charge from the hotel. My working theory now is that someone in the hotel messed up their first attempt to put the charge through, and waited so long to notice the problem and correct it, that the credit card had expired. Now they are scrambling to get this year's charges through before year's end. I feel a whole lot better about that explanation, than having to check daily to see if someone has drained my bank account.

I won't try to do a full CUOP/reply. Having climbed back out of that downward spiral I should turn my attention to my surroundings.

Cleaned up after dog X 2
Breakfast for Germane. She ate really well, all three dog foods eaten.
Came back later to see her Benedryl pill on the floor.
Gave her more dog food and the Benedryl. She no longer eats two of the three dog foods and the one that she will eat is too liquid to hide the pill.
Arranged a plate of nouveau cuisine with Benedryl hidden in Performatrin smothered in a blanket of Go! Turkey dog food. She ate it.
Breakfast
Called the hotel to ask if the big charge taken from my bank account came from them, as the bank said.
Emailed the hotel to request details.
Went through my credit card statements and bank statements for the last three months with a fine tooth comb. Cannot find that I paid for my last hotel stay. The best that I guess is that the hotel messed up charging to my card, charged it after my card had expired and it was rejected, and are now scrambling to charge it before year end. I have paid key deposits with my debit card, which would be how they got the bank information.

DD32 had over $6000 stolen from her account after our beach vacation, Dogged. The bank did get it all back but they quickly put thru lots of charges. I would have trouble with the evening entertaining, helian. I am pretty much fried by 6:30. My son in law is the main holiday cook. I have decided to be the person who buys fancy baked goods for dessert. I don’t even know where I would get tinsel. It is definitely not used very often any more.
