Sam's order placed for curb side pickup at 4pm today. I included a deli cooked pizza in the order because DS17 and GF volunteered to make the drive to pick everything up. I ordered a year supply of bleach for the aerobic septic system plus multiple big containers of laundry soap so I am thankful for strong teens who are willing to take care of this order.

mom young helper dd's are having a very good time - laughing away. driving dd younger and her dog to the airport at 3pm.
I have laundry separated in the dining room ;) - 3 loads ready to go.
I haven't done a lot but it's okay.

hello d twins! glad you got a walk! what a beautiful sounding walk!!!
interesting about the word satiate (d) (ing)
you are not a downer - you have been packed with so many activities and people! it's normal!
Holidays can bring out the " I am ready to rest after so many people, so many conversations, travel, so many lights, cooking, activities, food, getting ready for the holiday etc." The rest is a good thing!
Glad you have new years even off. hope you will be rested for the brunch!
Could you do talk to dh about setting up a calendar where it will benefit both of you - so he knows ahead that you can't keep up with it.
you are an amazing person! you truly are!
Happy almost birthday to your dh!

my French grandfather used to say "enough is too much" When I was young; I wondered what he meant by that - food, things, etc. but as I aged - I understood.

hi d Nancy
good for you for putting notes in your planner for next Christmas! great job! I need to do that this year.
hope your foot feels better today!!!
hope your stuffiness goes away!
yay on your wins!

d rose good morning
. I told them that they need to find what they were passionate abt and start doing it.

very wise advice!!!

Remember your husband spent years in an office managing all that was happening. He was a “ somebody” and now he is adjusting to just being an ordinary guy. Hes transferring managing his people at work to “ manage” you.

so true!!!!
how lovely about christmas! wonderful!!!
wow great on getting your tree down already!
waving

hi d harriet ! planner shopping is always fun!
hello

hello d lady we truly have a wonderful she village! I agree!
glad you reached the 70's much cooler than 85!
how nice to have a peaceful day!
how great that ds and his gf went to pick everything up.

hi d cathy how nice to snuggle after having your coffee
we are supposed get that snow tomorrow night and cold again.
wow on your d brother and mom having 5 foot piles of snow! wow

now:

empty the dw. :D
I ordered a few groceries :D - I think I will make potato ham soup. I saw a recipe on Wise Guy
cooking cabbage with smoked butt :D
dd's dog hit me in the knee - I have a feeling it will leave quite a bruise
tomorrow - making pot au feu - so that I can make the Alsatian pasta for this week.

I have an idea for a new years window theme.

I have to leave in 15 minutes - feeling sad that dd younger/her dog are going to Florida but happy for her at the same time.

Hello everyone!

Twins, Ive been following your DH's retirement journey with great interest. It is likely that my DH will be retiring some time next year! Fortunately he knows that he's a lot more out going than I am, but I just hope he remembers that when he retires. Also fortunately, he has started fulfilling a life time interest of volunteering on one of the heritage steam railways, which I'm hoping he will be able to get even more involved with when he does retire. But it's still going to be a huge change for both of us.

DH went out to meet with some of his friends when we had finished coffee this morning. Ive used the time to tidy up, do a few jobs round the house, catch up with laundry and have a nice walk in the sunshine (chilly, but at least it's a dry cold). :D

For retirement on You Tube this gal is good.
I listened to her vids. even though lh passed 2 days before he was to retire.
Her vids helped me quite a bit I re-frame widowhood to retirement and that made the transition easier.
"Retirement coach Cyn Meyer second wind movement"

Had a talk with hubby that I would need some alone time with out the loud TV going all the time
he was hard or hearing. And a few other key points that I learned from friends that hubby had retired
and that adjustments they had to make.

CI I've vacuumed the bedrooms
Also dusted the living room zone.
Soup for dinner perfect weather for that!

I think dh's retirement has been harder on me a lot of days. He's been bowling three times a week and with that, his workouts, and some lunches out for him, I've survived. He promises he'll get busier after awhile. I've heard him say he pledged that he wouldn't join any boards or start anything for a least a year, to give himself time to breath. From my standpoint, it seems like he spends a lot of time playing games on his phone. I think he thinks that I spend a lot of time "playing" on my computer.

RR is absolutely correct:
Remember your husband spent years in an office managing all that was happening. He was a “ somebody” and now he is adjusting to just being an ordinary guy. Hes transferring managing his people at work to “ manage” you.
I really need to take a shower but I don't want to give up sitting at this computer. I'm enjoying this thinking time.

DH is really enjoying himself, raking and bagging leaves. He’s already filled three 50-gallon bags today and plans to do two more. I mentioned that tomorrow’s 45mph winds would likely blow most of the leaves into the pasture if he waited, but after a brief pause to consider taking care of the leaves the easy way, he decided to keep going. IMHO, it’s a good and safe activity for him to enjoy out in the sunshine. Over the next week or two, I’ll be burning all the leaves he bags to use in the garden.

DS17 just called to let me know he has the curbside order and that gas at sam's is now $1.96 a gallon.

The place where we ordered supper from didn't have a delivery driver for tonight, so I had to go pick it up. I spent 20 minutes outside while I started to clear off dh's truck with the heat on high on the inside. I was dressed to be out in the weather so it didn't bother me. I had requested pick up for 4:30, so at 4 o'clock I went out and started getting the ice off of the wind shield. It wasn't very thick, but it took a while. When the inside of the truck started warming up, the ice got easier to remove. The roads had been sanded and salted so they were fine. There was very little traffic. I walked into the restaurant at exactly 4:30. 8-)

Kitchen is almost completely clean. I'm going to take a bunch of what we don't want to a local food bank when they reopen on the 5th of January.
I'm quite certain I will have some Christmas decor to go with me.
