It's Monday of the week that will begin the New Year! Today in our Village is the annual start of Focus Cleaning threads, a simple weekly plan for a year of 4 rounds through each area of our lovely homes, so that by the holidays we can just maintain, and celebrate in calm. In fact, the whole idea is being calm - rotating the cleaning chores and not biting off the whole enchilada at once, so that the things we love to do will have time in our schedules, too. Indiana gave us the basics of these 11 general areas and encouraged personalizing them to our own homes. Always starting with the entryway, often a bit easier than other areas, she eased into the year!

In the Organizational area below, Cleaning Focus is a forum with a place to chat each round, the calendar for copying and personalizing, clickable links to jog our thoughts about each area.

La la la la!!

After a long night with dh and myself not sleeping all too well, I have gotten the kettle boiling and dh's coffee is set up and ready to go when I push the button on the Keurig.

Now dh is up and he's asking for his coffee, and the kettle has boiled. I'll be back.

Later...

I told dh about the extended version of the commercial. We watched it together, then we watched the "making of Friends commercial" showing all the puppeteers. Now dh is down a rabbit hole.

We have both decided that all the goodies have to be gone as of today. Dh says he's been eating a lot of snacks after I've gone to sleep, which is why his sugar has been extremely high for the past week. I told him that napping all day and being up all night has got to stop. He's going to work on that. I told him he was waking me up too much.

Cleaning... I have a short list for today.
Empty dishwasher.
2 litter boxes need to be deep cleaned.
I would love to get those darn pots and pans done.

The wind howled all night and it's still very windy. None of the cats had any desire to go out this morning. It's snowing and the flakes are going sideways. Current temperature is plus 2 Celcius. Probably 35/36 degrees F.

No idea what is for supper.

I love the focus cleaning threads - I am not ready to delve into it yet even though I need the wonderful calm that it brings - I am needing to catch up on cleaning up christmas and put away that I couldn't keep up with over the holidays.

waving at you all! up late, regular d helper came and I was still asleep mom was awake and I didn't hear her - I have to put the monitor right next to me when dd's are gone over night - I usually hear her. She's okay and happy.
last night we played a game. She got better and better at it as she went on. By the end she could roll a dice (it's a game like sorry) - longer time to make decisions which is normal for mom.

Good morning

Harriet - Thank you for the start today and laying out an organized cleaning plan for2026.

I've been outside twice this morning to experience what freezing weather feels like, Weird maybe, but it is different weather from what we have been having so I was eager to find out how big of a cold weather whimp I have become. I dumped a bag of leaves into the fire pit and had a roaring fire going to share its heat for a few minutes. I walked a lap around the circle drive and discovered that I needed to walk faster if I want to generate enough body heat to stay warm.

I have a wide open free day - other than monitoring and managing DH, 3 teens, and 2 medical appointments. The teens get along well and are fairly responsible human beings so If they don't have a wreck or vehicle failure then they should be fine.

I have a list of 5 things that I would like to accomplish today in addition to following my hourly pathways. I try to stick to only 3 extra things so I might be overly ambitious. Time will tell.....

Up and about here. Dh went to workout this a.m. but didn't do any lifting with shoulder. Walked some on treadmill too. Dog is walked, a.m. routine underway. Roomba is going. S2s will be after workout, which is at two. Friends coming at 6ish.

I've been going from here to there but need to be working smarter. Settling a timer at BOTH, need to do some of the cooking prep that can be done ahead. House is in okay shape. Have a list going, and a list for dh.

Bw2, you're so cheerful always! And thank you Harriet for getting the cleaning focus threads going. Will take a look tomorrow when I have more bandwidth.

This round: downstairs bathrooms, put the brie together for the refrigerator, make the dip for veggies, what else....

Just received an unsolicited phone call. Our health insurance called to let me know that DD14 qualifies for Condition management program. DD14 is under the care of 5 different specialist with multiple appointments each week/month. The insurance company wanted to make me aware that I could bring in a team to manage everything. I declined their offer. As it is now, everyone seems to be working together well, and all are coordinating with our family doctor being the primary source. I trust the advice I receive from our family doctor. I would not be inclined to trust advice received from unknown person/team. I suspect adding an off-site management team to this effort will just complicate things. I could be wrong in this decision, but it feels like the right decision with the information I have at this moment. When/if I received different information then I will reevaluate.

Breakfast cupcakes made and I toasted some leftover Hawaiian rolls for my carb loving DH.
I need to update the cards for today and see where I am in the daily/weekly/monthly cards.

Breaking, pastry for brie needs to thaw. Bathrooms spiffed, dip made and in refrigerator. Also got tablecloth to DR table and found something I can use as centerpiece.

Going again at BOTH. Probably will need to break early to make myself an omelet and eat some protein. I'm having my fruit now.

I learned I could wipe out the microwave while my coffee was brewing.
I get it ready for the next day as part of my evening routine.

Got a pen pal letter out to the mail box. Yea!
Counts as some of my writing for today & this week.

Last zone was my bedroom and so glad I cleaned under it sleeping better now!
Did Living room zone work this weekend as it was needed.
I purged planners yesterday afternoon and was happy for the sun streaming through the window!
Had my bfast today.I think I've moved my desk day to Mon. it seems.

I have started taking a few items back to the basement & the Merry Christmas sign is in from
outside and back downstairs now. That was yesterday's task today just a coffee mug.
But that is still progress.
