I have the washer twins going now.
It's a grey day here too.
I am in turtle speed today.
Not much planned so I could try to read and get that book done more to read than I thought of well.
Ddoggo has been shedding so that is taking up some time.
Had lunch.
-----
Cleaned up the main bathroom.
Got the laundry out of dryer folded and put away.
Did up more dishes and put those away too.
It's raining here outside hoping that helps with the air quality.

Echoing LadyM. This is again going to feel like a very long weekend. I look forward to Monday.I am eager to get back into the groove of normal daily doings. I'm ready to bid farewell to holiday celebrations.
We had a good time with dneighbor M, her dh and guests. I started to leave about 4:30 and mentioned I needed to walk ddog, so she got R uby and we walked around the circle together. I think the only guests left by the time she got back were her dsis and nephew, and dbro and wife, so they will get to have some time together.
Dh is asleep in from of the TV. I love it when Alabama is losing....

Reminds me I am supposed to tell lucylee that ddolder will be rooting for Indiana????? Does that even make sense? Did I get it wrong?
Ddolder has been watching lots of football and parades because she is not feeling well. She suspects flu, a mild case since she had received the vaccine in the fall. A friend she saw recently was actually diagnosed with flu, so it seems likely, also symptoms align. We think we were not exposed since the timings don't seem a problem and when she came over last, she didn't really get near us.
DgsC was the "first-footer" for their household, leaving by the back door and later returning through the front. He has dark hair, and that's supposed to be part of the tradition - you hope the first person to cross the threshold will have dark hair? Scottish and Irish custom, ddolder says.
Chatted with dd27, too. They have spent the day on cleaning, especially garage.
More embroidery has gotten me about halfway through with the stitching.
Work on planner has been pleasant.

We have had supper. Dh is sleeping in front of the TV. He doesn't like college football, so he doesn't watch any games on New Year's Day. I don't think I've ever seen any of these parades.
I have the second load of laundry going through the wrinkle free cycle.

Yes — makes sense, Harriet! Dgs and I were cheering for the Hoosiers too!
Haven’t heard from dmom today. She will be very sad. She cheers for both our state teams, but I just can’t do that. I guess dh rubbed off on me.
If I do what I’ve done today for the rest of the year, I will certainly be a fat, lazy girl.
I still have not s2s! I did straighten up the kitchen. The ham carcass is still in the fridge though. There may be some good meat left, but I just can’t deal with it tonight. I took dgs home and told Dgd I needed tonight off.
Why, I don’t know because I am not using my time wisely.

Well, I'm glad I remembered to say it, lucylee and Twins'. I don't fully understand the concept of supporting teams that aren't even playing because the win of a certain other team means something... .. or... .. not. I heard on radio news that there is something like that going on for a team closer to us, but honestly I don't know what it is. I'm an incorrigible sports novice. Love to hear that my grands are happy about a game - that's about all I ever know.
Ddolder says she has learned about herself that she personally likes watching college football, and that it wasn't just because she married someone who liked it, too. As I could have predicted, it takes a while for a widowed person to sort through what was "my interest", "spouse's interest" and "our interest together". I'm glad she's learning about herself more and more, even now. What am I saying, lol, I'm learning about myself "even now", lol.
We had a nice supper and I've been cleaning up in the kitchen while YT entertains. On YT, there's a declutter series on sewing spaces and that was interesting to hear about, and there's also a challenge idea of dividing sewing projects into the 12 months of the year. I will tuck these thoughts into my memory, but I can't do all the wonderful ideas out there, even if they are ideas for being organized. I can't organize all the good organizing plans into my organization, lol. One good habit at a time.
Making out an evening 5x5 for tomorrow. Checking the weather while doing this is helpful. There is a window of opportunity tomorrow here for better weather to work on the porch. And morning sunshine will be helpful for eyesight in the decluttering plans inside, especially small items.

Re: Thursday January 1, 2026 New Year's Day!!
Good evening, everyone!
I have had a pajama day here — stayed in bed till 11 or so and have spent the day in the new robe DH got me for Christmas. He got up at a halfway reasonable hour and s2s, but he’s spent the day in sweats and slippers.
Last night’s New Year’s gathering was smaller than usual and ended for most earlier than usual, as we got our first sizable snow of the winter. We had at least 3” down here near the lake; I’m sure the higher spots in the east and south got more. A few people didn’t make it at all, and enough left early that it was just me and DH, P & K, and their son and his girlfriend around the table playing a game. We paused for a toast at midnight, then kept on playing. Despite the late hour, we played another round, so we didn’t get home till about 1:30. As DH was backing in, he noticed that DD had shoveled tire tracks in the driveway — and as we backed up further, we saw she was still working on the back walk, bless her!
She’s hurting today; her ankle is bothering her. Of course, she’s got no insurance at the moment, but if it’s still hurting tomorrow, we’ll take her to the urgent care.
I’ve got a couple of things to do before bed, so I’ll wish you all a Happy New Year and sweet dreams. Hopefully I’ll see you much earlier tomorrow!

Re: Thursday January 1, 2026 New Year's Day!!
Learning “me” instead of “we.” This is so hard and it makes me cry. I still have no idea what is “me” anymore.
I have been on the computer for awhile, doing some planning and some $ tasks… and found out my SS will increase by about $48 a month in the next check. That’s pretty good, approx. $500 a year, right?
Do any of you do a Word of the Year? I’m thinking.
