Snowflake Sunday

Wtg everyone! I hope you had a restful/productive Sunday of your choosing. Mine ended up more restful. We started watching a “Murdoch Mysteries” and I fell asleep. Dh is prepped and ready for going back to work tomorrow.
Walked Beau after dark. We have a shelf behind the house for outside cats to eat their food, and found a possum frozen “dead” hanging off the shelf, lol. We must have caught him mid flight and he froze, hanging from the shelf, front legs on the ground. He stayed like that the whole time we walked the length of the back yard, long enough for me to video several angles. We came in and I noticed blood drops. Poor Beau ripped a toenail somewhere. That’s what I get for not keeping up with dremeling his toenails. I feel horrible. He seemed to not notice and wanted to keep playing so hopefully it’s not too uncomfortable for him.
Thank you for the ideas on parsnips. I didn’t get to them today but probably will attempt to cook them tomorrow. I do hope they’re the “sweet after the frost” and not the bitter ones.

Finish up Week 1 porch, front entry - see about planting any potted plants in yard or is it too early (on hold), dc console, work on foyer closet

Kittykatt, if you see this Monday, what does “dinner in the dog” mean? The cop on a tv show said it and I’ve never heard it before. I looked it up and the definition said it means it’s trash? So does it mean dinner didn’t turn out well?

Went to let the dogs in before I go to bed, we have a glass storm door, and there was Thumper sitting with Beau behind him, AND a cat sitting under both! That rebel Captain had snuck outside again without me seeing him and thankfully stayed on the porch. He gets under the dogs and runs out when I let my guard down. He hasn’t done it in weeks and with Beau bleeding everywhere I shooed him out of the house and Captain saw his chance and took it. My heart is racing. I may need an apple tag or equivalent to stick on that cat!

Bama, my mil was the parsnip queen! She cleaned them- they were covered with wzx to keep them from drying out/ peeled them like carrots. Then cut them into about 3 inch long sections, and cut those in half lengthwise. Then she did what she called "Parboil" which means simmering in hot water until they are partially cooked, still firm. Then drain the liquid, and put them into a frying pan with some butter on medium-med high heat, until they are just slightly browned/ carmelized. They were soo good!
You can also roast them in the oven at 400-425. I think that's how my dsis3 fixes them, but she's at a high mountain altitude so her cooking temps and times vary from us earthlings. Check Google for the directions.

It's 1130pm. I'm getting a start on my K table. Monday I have bank and courthouse work to do for mother's estate. And take supper to dfBS.

Cleaned up after dog
Gave dog her Benedryl
Moved big air fryer into kitchen
Detailed cleaning of big air fryer
Wiped down air fryer’s table
Wiped down accessible surfaces
Dried air fryer and moved it back to table to dry out
Started new laundry bag
Checked laundry and put away dry tshirts
Made breakfast: rice and frozen vegetables. After heating it all, splashed too much soy sauce on. Fixed it by adding the rest of the too bland pea soup. Result: excellent dish that is somewhere between soup and porridge. I am calling it Pease Porridge Hot, Pease Porridge In The Pot, Some Days Old.
Wiped down the standing desk as it is a dust magnet
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed a few basinsful of dishes
Put pots in to soak
Dried/rearranged some dishes to make room
Wiped/put away one dish drainer
Brought out breadmaker
Looked up recipe for cornbread
Filled breadmaker
Refilled flour canister. Normally I would wash it between fillings but I can’t get near the clean canisters until the laundry rack is put away.
Finished the jar of yeast.
Tried to open the new jar. Couldn’t.
Dug in the Thing drawer and found something called Robotwist that I don’t remember owning.
Robotwist opened the jar. Yay!
Robotwist would not stop trying to open jars. Tried hitting the one button, tried walking around with it waiting for it to stop, tried googling various forms of Robotwist won’t stop, finally just took the batteries out.
Finished filling breadmaker and started it
Treat for dog
Fiddled with antivirus software until I got the current license on the laptop
Created second user
Cleaned up after dog
Set up grow light for plants
Took bread out of breadmaker
Showered/washed hair
Scrubbed bathtub
Got message from vendor of missing parcel that just basically said that the courier said he delivered it.
Emailed back
Fresh water and kibble for dog
Treats for dog
Took kitchen garbage to basement
Checked mailroom
Emailed building to confirm that they don’t have the parcel
Covered dw
Put away heater
Gave Germane her Apoquel
