LM My 1st job was washing dishes in a cafe.
The taught me to go glassware 1st
after scraping then 2nd cups saucers and plates
silver ware could soak as I did the 2nd times.
That was efficient and I still do that today.

Did some writing starting to get back in to my pre NYE flow.
We have walked.
I need to think about my lunch.
Picked up after ddoggo had put that off.

I have put the Christmas & holiday decor away in totes
in the basement that I've been taking down for the past
few days. Yea!

Put the laundry back on track with bath mat in the wash now.

Got down in the floor of the sewing room and upside-down manipulated the iron plug into the receptacle above the machine plug. Soooo much easier than moving the big desk. Iron seems to work fine, but it will take some getting used to, having one smaller.

Continued porch work that had been left behind last week because of the weather, and (wearing gloves) took down quite a bit of the ivy at the back door. I never, ever want to kill my mother's English Ivy or lose it. It's so sweet, but this is not a venerable old College building, it is a house, lol. And we want to not only get into our house but see out the screen porch, too!

Chocolate chat - I had a little, too. There's a YT quilt-chat lady who says it makes you kinder to others. (smile) Brunch of healthy smoothie is wearing off, so maybe I need a late lunch.

hello d all!
took dogs out so that they could run full speed.

hi d harriet - yay on laundry being back on track
glad you got the iron plugged in where you wanted
yay on porch work
I like that: quilting makes you kinder to others (who is the yt lady)
enjoy lunch

hi d Nancy
I was a waitress at 14 - a pizza small restaurant dive.
it was wonderful what our jobs teach us.
yay on walk
yay on cleaning up hot spots

hi d cathy (hangry is ok!!) :D it happens to all of us!!!
yay on dw being emptied and other work being done
sounds like your dh had the at night hungry's!
((()))

hi d lady!
I want you to know I admire you-everything about you - your ability to understand others and teach/help your family and others is a gift. it's pretty amazing!
I do the same - re: the procrastination - I tend to get lost if I don't tackle something within the 5 minutes as well. The one thing keeps bothering me and if I would have taken care of the dishes right away then I would have to worry. Same with my card file.
my brother does the same thing - I actually think he is proud of what he does yet can't see the value in other ways.
sounds like a win win for you! good for you doing it your way!

hi d twins. yay on ordering groceries, so sorry someone didn't sign the check!
cheering you on as you work

hope you all have a great day.

I order from a local grocery store - it's rare that I have to go in - I find shopping takes me away from what I should do at home or I buy too much. I no longer let dh get anything that isn't something he knows about: milk, dog treats, coffee - everything else usually doesn't turn out well. He struggles thinking in a bigger picture-he can't see the other things in the same area that can be used- I always thought it was laziness especially when he was much younger but he just can't - it's worse now that he is older - he gets overwhelmed so easily. his heart is in the right place though.

I can't go back to d mystery and d twins response when I responded.

d twins - so interesting about the web master - I didn't even know that was a thing. I should have known!
we have a few step ford wives - about 1/8 to 1/4th - social level/ it's rather sad but many loose their first husbands to a much much younger version of themselves. 55/22-25 and 65/30 early thirties. the men vs. women. I saw that with some of my dad's work associates.

hello d mystery!

ready to work again.

WhoooHooo! We did it in under 2 hours. That included -
  • Curbside pickup (26 items $311)
  • In store shopping for fresh veg/fruit. Also found some good sales on meat. - 18 items $198
  • fill up vehicle with gas
  • an hour driving there/back
  • stopping to get daily drinks
  • Unloading everything and putting it away

Too many interruptions this afternoon and I'm going in a lot of different directions.

Cemetery
called board chair guy and he was at dr. office
supposed to call back
he called back when my phone was off and left a message for me to call him after five p.m.
emails back and forth with temple administrator/office manager, asked her what news she had...
She wanted me to call her, she was on phone.
She called me back and we talked. She did not realize that chair had left matters unresolved and up in the air
I got to vent a bit to someone that I can talk to about this "special project" which is apparently so secret the cemetery board can't know about it.

HOA
The reason my phone was off was because I was rebooting it, had a visitor downstairs - guy to sign the ck he dropped off - and left my phone off when I came back upstairs

Dh came home from lunch out and came upstairs to talk....
then a recently retired financial advisor that dh worked with came to the door for afternoon drinks with dh...
And I had to go downstairs to let the dog in because dh was allowing her to bark.

I did watch a recorded webinar and logged it in my spreadsheet of "professional" education. Had to stop and start numerous time...while doing that I also put together all my 2025 planner pages, and found the page that had notes from August cemetery meeting that shows what we agreed upon.

I've lost my favorite pen and a circa ring that old planner pages were on. It's on this desk or in this room. I labeled 2023 and 2024 planner, and threw out any earlier.

I'm not even sure what to attempt at this point. Maybe I'll go putter in the garage for 15 min. Find some things to recycle or throw out, or reorganize...

-HOA work I didn't do yesterday, plus make a deposit on my phone.
-Figure out if I made notes re: camp scholarship no notes, need to go back to dh to discuss...

-review maybe a 100 more pages of tax records from 1822 forward.
-watch/listen to a webinar - 45 min
-15 min in garage straighten up/clean up

DS17 and GF have become the proud new parents of a pair of kittens that were reportedly dumped. They managed to grab some kitten food and litter from the dollar store just before it closed last night. By 10 p.m., they were giving the kittens baths and picking off fleas. DS17 is allergic to cats but believes he’ll be fine with them living in the shop area. GF, a huge animal lover, is already giving them great care. I’m staying out of their kitten care decision, though I did bring home a big bag of kitten food today. Other than that, they’ll need to handle the kitten situation themselves, though I did suggest they make vet appointments.

I was invited to have a nap with dh and one of the cats. I told dh to wake me up before 4. I got up around 3:30. Because appliance guy hadn't called me back, I called him. Good thing I did. They are leaving for a week in Cuba tomorrow morning. I would have been absolutely irked with the guy if I kept calling him for a week with no response!! Dh said I could do any laundry we absolutely needed in the sink. I reminded him that we have 2 laundromats in our tiny town.

I am waiting for the water to boil so I can put the spaghetti in. The sauce and meatballs are already cooking in another pot.
