Ds literally proposed in a hot air balloon, maybe about 18 years ago.
Dsonil proposed in the middle of a frigid stream where gem-hunting is a part of a (state?) park experience, but where a mis-step could have been a pretty miserable thing, lol. (perhaps not dangerous, necessarily)
I think any photos were definitely after the fact. I remember dd's nose was red in their selfie afterward.
One thing about HRH's proposal to me, there was a floor to catch the ring if he'd dropped it. (smile)
I've dropped out of the visitation rounds to colorists. But, yes, what had once been an every-6-week thing had gradually become an every-four-week and almost every-three-week thing. The (cool color of) gray roots had looked unappealing against the (warm color of) brown, but allover salt-gray-against-pepper-gray is surprisingly normal looking when I see a mirror. Like I have told ya'll before, I look into a mirror and sort of see my mother, so... .. not so bad.
Heating saga :
HRH is so happy. We seem to be getting indoor temp up normally, and just in time for dark. I've called ds and ddolder to let them know we probably won't need any intervention tonight after all. There was a train of thought that had us sleeping in dgsJ's room on the twin beds there and J being displaced to an air mattress, maybe. So glad no one has to make special arrangements.
A series of confusing automated phone calls and online messages from one of my doctor's offices has been resolved. The storm's electrical on-and-off caused some kind of a meltdown on their auto-communication, suggesting several lab tests, etc., were due by Wednesday, and were my responsibility. Um... .. no. Nurse called and said I'm completely caught up, so ignore. Thank goodness.

Re: Right Thing Monday PWYC
Both medical appointments for this week have been rescheduled. Neither one is life/death important so I am not concerned about the delay. That means we have an entire week with no appointments!
I've been shoveling snow in short spurts. It feels good to be outside, but I am aware the shoveling snow is using muscles in ways that aren't usual. I don't want to pull a muscles or injury myself so am opting for less-is-enough approach.
The door that we typically let Sam into his backyard is still sealed shut by a mini snow drift (about 1.5 feet tall). In the meantime we switch to a different door to let Sam go out to do his business. This door gives Sam access to my garden so I have been watching him close to make sure he picks an area away from raised beds to do his business. So far, it is working well.
DS52 and DGD15 called to chat on their way home from eating. DDIL is in vegas with some friends. I asked DS52 what his preferred ai is and he is mostly using grok. He quit using chatgpt but occasionally uses claude. That confirms what I have discovered when asking the same question to multiple ai. Of course, this is such a fast-moving dynamic technology that it could change tomorrow.
I'm somewhat surprised that my energy level has stay high all day. I thought the short night sleep would affect me, but I've haven't noticed any decrease in desire to do the next thing.

Re: Right Thing Monday PWYC
I wonder if ChatGTP is secure and private, but of course I'm not giving any financial info or personal info like my actual address. I have "talked" with it about grief and my energy/motivation problems. And it seemed it was really helping re: how to look at my morning routine and putting the sleep timer on the tv -- I think that definitely helps the quality of my sleep.
However, on these cold, cold mornings, even though my house stays pretty much a steady 73 degrees... I have to really struggle to get out of bed.
Harriet, that is sweet that your DS really did get a hot air balloon for the proposal, and the fact that photos were taken afterwards adds to some spontaneity.
My student who wanted a hot air balloon actually received her proposal on senior night at a college baseball game. Her husband was a star player and when she and his parents went out for the picture, you know, when he received his jersey and misc for the senior night, her parents walked out there too and he dropped to one knee. I don't know if it really took her by surprise or not, but it looked spontaneous.
You know, dh and I would sometimes talk about those people that propose via the Jumbo-trons at ballgames. How terrible if she actually says no. Hmmm...
Thinking about my prom-posal. LOL. We were all, a bunch of us girls, sitting around in the fellowship hall at church, and someone said to me, "Why don't you ask ___?" He was a really good friend, cousin to my best friend, and I had known him all my life. I think I just went over to him that night and asked him if he would like to go. He was three years older. He knew he was just a ride to the prom, knew all about dh, but he said sure, he'd go, and we had a nice time. Of course, after the first dance, he said, "I think I'll ask (girl who dh had brought) to dance." She was also a friend who went to church with me, a couple years older than me. When dh asked her, she told her aunt and said, "But I thought Lucy was still with (dh)" Her aunt told her I had asked the friend to take me, so she thought I'd be fine with her going with dh. I don't really remember dancing with my date much that night. That's terrible, isn't it? He did ask for a good night kiss when he brought me home, and it was a very chaste, quick kiss. But he was a good friend all his life, to me and dh. He died a few years ago with a brain tumor. I taught both of his children in school and they all knew the prom story.
Kittykat said her parents might have not been happy with anyone she chose to marry except maybe the son of a king.
My dad might have been happy if something had developed between prom date and me, but short of that, I don't know that anyone would have been good enough for ddad, either.
Y'all, I have had such a good day, even though it didn't start till after noon!
I have all my laundry done, although I'm still working on the fold and put away and hang to dry part.
DGS and I * together * made spaghetti and had a good supper, and then we watched a movie on the DVR -- the old "Airplane" movie with Leslie Neilson.
I had thought he would like it, and he did. There was so much of it I had forgotten -- especially the part that played off the George Gipp speech in the old Ronald Reagan movie.
All the dishes are washed or in the dishwasher.
Talked to ddil, invited them to come eat spaghetti, but she said they were already in Next Town. She had gotten home early and dgd was happy to have her mommy home; had not complained at all about DGS spending so much time here.
I did not get the boots from Dcousin. She texted but it was after we started cooking, so I didn't want to go out again after the temperature started dropping more after dark. I'll try to see her tomorrow.
Concerning the cheese dip... yeah... I'm getting conflicting info from Google also. Some sites say noooo, do not freeze Velveeta. Some say sure. I guess I could send some to dmom and ddil. And apparently it keeps in the fridge for a few days also.
I am so glad you have cleared the week of appointments, LadyM. Y'all have been on the run enough. Be careful in the snow! Is your ds52 having a lot of snow also?
Glad to hear the confusion is cleared up and you are "free" for a while, too, Harriet! (((HUGS))) for the ordeal with the heat. Glad you get to sleep in your own bed tonight.
WTG on the prayer shawl, Nancy! (And all your other ta-das for the day!
Must get these towels folded. They are piled on the couch and this is dgs' preferred sleep spot.
