kitkat, WTG on all that you got done. When I'm doing laundry, that's all that I get done.

LOL, we have come a long way, Bama. A girl in my German class played hockey in the 1970's and that was so unusual to us then. We had all been stuck in net for our brothers to practise in the back yard, of course, but to actually play on a team was unheard of.

That is so disappointing about the car and the key, trissie. If they had found something, you'd feel more confident driving it. In Canada, our fobs are expensive to replace because you have to go to a dealership. But the keys can be cut at Canadian Tire, so it's just a few dollars.
I had downloaded an old favourite of mine called Demi Gods. It's a game like My Kingdom For The Princess where you send characters out to collect resources and build things to complete the level. I just out of the blue wanted to play it again. I shouldn't have tried to play it all in one day, though, LOL.
Happy birthday! Do hold out for a nice celebration, even if it can't be on the actual day.

True, Bama and trissie. It's a long wait, but boy! Mondays feel different when you are retired.
I am completely mentally unprepared for Shrove Tuesday and Lent being this week. I was sure that it was in March. What do you want to bet that I had it mixed up with St. Patrick's day?
I also love the chance to talk to people from all over. That is the one thing that I miss from my call centre days; working with people from different countries.

Look at all of those Ta Das, helia. WTG!

I'm afraid that Kubla Khan never made it into any compartment in my brain, Harriet. I've heard of Genghis, of course, but we didn't cover any Khan's or Marco Polo in my history classes.
Apparently, New Orleans extended Fat Tuesday to Fat Monday, which is the origin of Lundy Gras. Nothing wrong with an extra day of pancakes in my view, LOL.

I haven't got progress to report either, helia. Just ate breakfast and CUOP. But the day is still young. :)

Trissie, how in the world did I miss your birthday statement?!?!?!

๐Ÿ’ž ๐ŸฅณHAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO YOU! ๐Ÿฅณ ๐Ÿ’ž

LAnn, oops on the lost post, thatโ€™s frustrating after spending time on it.

Dogged, it does seem like Shrove Tuesday/Ash Wednesday is early this year.

Helia, enjoy your jog. International flavor is a good way to put it, similar yet different in our day to day routines.

Kitkat, wtg on all those walks, donโ€™t tell my dogs, we havenโ€™t been out yet today.
Dd is waiting on the other driverโ€™s insurance company, as of Friday they were still waiting on the police report, but their adjuster assured dd it was their fault and they are covering a rental for her. Iโ€™ve been looking at cars online for her but it really sucks bc her car is older and not valued at much although it had zero problems and low mileage. Itโ€™s gonna be hard to replace. Have you priced vehicles lately. The prices are outrageous.

Hi Harriet! I was horrible at history so donโ€™t ask me anything lol. My birth town (Mobile, Alabama) is the original home of Mardi Gras although New Orleans took it to new heights. Itโ€™s really grown and spread to neighboring counties although Iโ€™ve seen more than enough for my lifetime so I ignore it mostly.

Done since last post:
Pet chores
Dust
Round robins:
Bathroom - took down pics I donโ€™t like, shopped the house to replace them with others so itโ€™s all fresh
Bedroom - boxed up some things to go to Hollywood
Living - took down Christmas themed books (put on top of bookcase in bedroom) and replaced with some yard sale books on history, 2 collections, 1 a set of childrenโ€™s history, 1 an adult set of history. Iโ€™m trying to learn everything I missed in school. Took down Valentine hearts. Put shedding pussy willow stems on porch in bunny arrangements
Dining - tidy
Kitchen - unload dw, soak glass bottles (old beverage bottles from dhโ€™s birthplace buried in yard so full of dirt), wipe down, wipe out drink fridge and fill with zero sugar sodas for dh, found one steak in freezer so thawing for fajitas
Foyer - took some pics off console and put in closet, added vine bunny for Easter/spring decor
Ate lunch

Do:
Log lunch
Vacuum
Mop? Dh will be home soon so may put off til later this evening or tomorrow
Laundry

Fun fact: a serving of Nerds candy is 1 tablespoon. Who eats one serving? Asking candy lovers, not those of you with no sweet tooth. :P Putting the box away and going to vacuum.

Hello, everyone!

How nice to have a Girls' dinner, Helia! I hope you're able to enjoy the nice weather today.

Happy Birthday, Trissie! Sorry about all the car related troubles. I hope you still manage to celebrate.

DPup is very well behaved, KitKat! Fortunately DH has several hobbies and interests he intends to pursue during his retirement, so he won't be underfoot all day every day!

Sorry about the lost post, L.Ann. I hope you all enjoyed the marine museum.

I've never heard of Lundy Gras before, Bama, but parades sound great fun!

Harriet, all these mentions of Kublai Khan have now put the poem by Coleridge into my mind: "In Xanadu. did Kublai Khan a stately pleasure dome decree ..." :D

Dogged, no tetanus injection for me today, as the nurse went through my records very carefully and discovered I'd had one in April 2019, so I'm still protected, even under new regulations. (I can vaguely remember a nurse sticking a needle in my arm sometime around then, but couldn't remember what for. I'm actually quite embarrassed at how laissez-faire I seem to be about things like this! Whereas the cats' vaccinations are all recorded and to hand.)

But, somehow when the health records got digitised back in the early 2000s, things went missing, so the record is incomplete. Smallpox and BCG jabs have both dropped off, which is ok as I still have the scar for both, which prove I had them, even thought they dont give them any more. But, there's no trace of the measles vaccine which I'm sure I had as a small child.

My parents were conscientious about things like this, so I 'm sure I must have had something. Not the MMR, obviously, as that wasn't available here until 1988, but there was some type of measles vaccine available here from 1968. I definitely have never had any symptoms of measles and I dont remember anyone at my primary school being ill with measles, and it's so infectious that it's inconceivable that we would all have escaped without being vaccinated with "something". The other alternative is that I could have caught it and been asymptomatic (apparently that does happen rarely) but that's highly unlikely for all of the class!

ATM, measles is surging in London, due to all the parents who can't be bothered to vaccinate their children , even though it's free, (which, of course, endangers those children who *can't* be vaccinated for medical reasons :x ) so it's only a matter of time before it makes its way down here to the SW. The nurse has recommended the MMR vaccination, so I've booked that for 2 weeks time. Apparently the government has launched a campaign to get everyone vaccinated to try and contain the outbreak. This will also give me time to look and see if I can find any paper childhood vaccination records in the filing system to prove my hunch. Getting a serology test done would also prove if had antibodies or not, but it's quicker and easier (and not harmful) to just get the jab.

Upstairs is clean and tidy and DH made yummy pancakes for supper. (A day early, but he's out tomorrow evening).

lol at your record keeping, kittykatt, Iโ€™m the same way. I have binders on all the pets but mine are in piles, and I couldnโ€™t tell you what procedures Iโ€™ve had done or when, except for those with birthdays lol.

Finished cooking fajitas. Now trying a new thing, someone said to eat daily apple, carrot, and beet, so Iโ€™m cooking them all in the same pot to see how that tastes. Yes it will lose some of the benefits but Iโ€™m just curious.

Combining my lists for when I update my planner.

Done:
Weigh
Water ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง
Eat breakfast
Dogs out and in
Inside pets fed and watered
Watched videos on โ€œthe big 6โ€ moves to get the lymphatic system moving and it felt really nice, a quick exercise, I feel my blood flowing and more relaxed ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Played daily puzzles
Pet chores
Dining - tidy
Kitchen - unload dw, soak glass bottles (old beverage bottles from dhโ€™s birthplace buried in yard so full of dirt), wipe down, wipe out drink fridge and fill with zero sugar sodas for dh, found one steak in freezer so thawing for fajitas, chop peppers and onions, carrots and apple
Foyer - took some pics off console and put in closet, added vine bunny for Easter/spring decor
Ate lunch
Log lunch
Vacuum

To Do:
Mop? Dh will be home soon so may put off til later this evening or tomorrow
Laundry
Walk

Taking a break before moving on.

I'm sorry that your post disappeared, L.Ann. It is frustrating when that happens.

Bama, cars are a shocking price here too. My db and I were discussing the Chinese EVs that will start arriving in Canada. I told my db that they hope to get them down to $35K in a few years. He said that was ridiculous; that you could get a gas-powered car for less than that. I did a quick search and told him that the average price of new cars in Canada is $63,665. He said that people would just buy second hand cars. I told him that the average price of used cars in Canada is $35,494. I paid $3000 for the car that I drive now. It looks like it is my last car.
I had no idea that the Mardi Gras celebration as we think of it was started in Mobile, Alabama. You never know what you are going to learn here. :)
And the next thing I need to learn: what are Nerds candies? Are they designed to be attractive to computer operators. Could you bait traps for programmers with them?

Not only were Khans missing from my history lessons, Kittykatt, but I didn't get that poem in English, either!
Isn't it always the way? The dkids are up to date on everything, but Mom gets overlooked. ;)
We are having cases of measles here too, and also because of parents who don't vaccinate their children. You don't have to pay for children's vaccinations (and most adult vaccinations are free too) so they make it as easy as possible for people to get them.

Monday
Fed Germane
Put away dry dishes
Mini grooming session for Germane
Fed Germane
Made new Procrastaccomplishments list for the week
Checked emails
Confirmed dental appointment
Put pasta on to cook
Mini grooming session for Germane
Fed Germane
Washed dishes
Repacked paper recycling into smaller boxes that are also being recycled. Our city changed the recycling system to an outside company, and there have been a lot of problems with their not picking up the recycling. As a result, our paper bins are overflowing and people have piled up boxes of paper recycling to the point that we canโ€™t walk all the way into the room. I donโ€™t want to give up my packing boxes just now, as I want them for things being transferred to the basement, but I can reduce the backed up recycling in my apartment by taking down smaller boxes with the recycling crammed in.

Dogged, I donโ€™t want to entice you into a bad habit but nerds are tiny candies, like small rocks, taste sort of like sweettarts in that they are sweet and tart at the same time, with a crunchy coating, and come in different flavors for each holiday season. Grape, a basic flavor, is my fave. I donโ€™t indulge much but we have out $1 boxes of candy at Christmas and had some leftover so Iโ€™m โ€œdeclutteringโ€ them. I had a huge salad for balance.

Car shopping was never fun to begin with, now itโ€™s beyond painful and humiliating as salespeople act like I donโ€™t know a thing about the car, the office runs my credit and acts like I canโ€™t afford the car, and the service dept is who let my dh drive off without tightening the lugs on his tires. And now the car drives for me, complains with bells and flashing lights if it wants air, oil, or any of a number of things, and can shut itself off. All in all, not a good thing. :P

The car being able to shut itself off is terrifying, Bama. You make me happy that my car is sol old that it's not smart enough to do things like that.
I believe that I am safe from the temptation of Nerds, because I don't remember ever seeing them sold here.

I have taken a trip to the basement to bring a box to the locker and some paper recycling down. It seems that we are making progress as the bins are outside. The apartment must believe that the new recycling company will pick up the recycling this time. There is still recycling stacked up against the walls, so there is probably a limit that the company will pick up at one time, but at least I could walk all the way into the room. I think that I should be able to go back to dumping my recycling in the bin within a couple of weeks.
