Thanks Kittykatt!

I have cast on the next project did that yesterday.
Got the foundation 1st row done.
Change to smaller needles also.
The red white and blue one is wider think baby blanket width 100 stitches.

No hurry on it as I'll do it when this other current pink project is done.

The navy knitting is apx. 2-3" now, will be red white & blue and solid white and the repeats of that.
100 stitches wide / think baby blanket size.

Kittykatt, gingham is so charming and yes, it's helpful to have such a cheery roadmap for cutting. I will be joining you in convincing a pet he isn't interested in my project. Red is good for appetite - you will be enjoying that in your kitchen.

Nancy, having a different project to move to can make for more fun, I'm sure, keeping interest. Your different colors will give you variety. I saw a lady who does simple YT videos just showing her 8 (yes, 8!) projects that she does at least one hour each on every week since she does have a lot of time she can give. My brain would rebel if I had that many going, but I see her point. That way, she doesn't have to give more than an hour to anything if she doesn't want to, but she can put in a lot of time on something that happens to strike her fancy one week. I noticed she holds out her opinion, though, for the SIZE she will allow a project to reach. One recent one she changed from a bed covering to deciding she only wants to make a baby gift size.

My progress on the center of the quilt top - oval is basted and appliqued onto its background rectangle. Then, in cutting into the rectangle needed (after all that applique and embroidery work was stitched onto this piece!), I made one cut incorrectly, but I can see how to fix that. The large block above that is bordered now, all the way around in the correct widths to fit into the other parts of the top. I'm tired of the nail-biting of tedious work and math, and am looking forward to changing occupations.

Just need to
make that correction
seam the two parts together, trim to size
seam that into the middle third of the top
set the middle aside to rest my brain!

Then, the quilting
"A change of occupation is rest." - Ruth Stout :)

The backing fabric is already washed and ironed. There wasn't much shrinkage.
I drew some potential designs that might work for areas that don't have to have quilting follow the fabric pieces. Most will be easy to mark.

I think I'll quilt the bottom third of the top first, just because it will be the third that will need the least pondering.

Things to do:
order some additional white and blue threads.
Let the batting breathe and expand. (Somehow convince Tobias he is not interested.)
Down on the floor, maybe, with Kittykatt, to cut batting and backing thirds.
