Hi!

I was doing grown up stuff this morning. I ended up being on hold with a CC company for over an hour this morning. I also had an appointment at the bank. Dh had an appointment to get his toenails done this afternoon. After that, I went to bed and slept for almost 3 hours.

Got out of bed and asked dh what he wanted to eat, we decided on mac and cheese from a box.

You guys don't want to know the state of my kitchen.

Tomorrow's another day, right?

After I posted the above, I went into the kitchen and put a bunch of dishes into the sink for their presoak. Then dh did his night meds and we watched a bit of curling together. There are 4 matches tonight including the medal winning team from the Olympics AND the best player is on another team (a former medal winner) but they are covering the French speaking team (Quebec) and dh doesn't speak or understand French. Now he's got Survivor on.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

LadyM, the insurance agent told me to get some estimates first, before I filed a claim and got the adjuster out here — I guess to see if it was going to be more than my $20,000 deductible. So see, the first $20,000 will come out of my pocket no matter what.

Today’s estimate for shingles — $21,600.
He’s going to get back to me about metal but suspects that will be in the $30,000 range.

I’ll probably be crying in the shower again.

Oh — and I don’t want to tell dmom, but I don’t even want to TALK to the guy that just put her metal roof on! I looked on his fb page and 7 out of 8 people are just MAD at him… I mean, they are furious. Calling him a jerk and a liar… I mean, it’s crazy to think he’s even in business.
Dmom used him because her yard man recommended him and he did metal for the same price he quoted her for shingles. Of course, even a bad job will probably last dmom the rest of her life.
Tomorrow is another day.

Ds called today and let us know the children were going to come by.
lucylee, while I had him on the phone I asked about firefighters and metal roofs. He said it's just a different saw used for metal if one is needed and it will be on the truck, a cross between a chainsaw and a circular saw. They'll notice when there's a metal roof and may have the saw in hand before their feet hit the ground. Almost every community has some commercial buildings, so fire depts have reasons to get through metal roof or siding more often than people think.

The kids hung out with us until softball for C and teen group for W. They didn't eat with us.

I just made rice for supper and the two of us chose different leftovers to go with it, were both happy.

Thanks, Harriet! I am thinking I would love to do metal at this point, but I am afraid it will put the price out of reach.
ChatGTP says I should not mention upgrading to metal when the adjuster comes. I cannot imagine that they will give me enough above my deductible to pay the difference with the metal. I know there is a limit to what dmom can loan me.
This is so depressing.
Tomorrow is another day.
