My stomach is bothering me... probably related to the nerves and stress of all this.
I need to go visit dcousin and take her that book. I'm going to wait till around 5:00 -- that will give me an hour before church, and that will be plenty of time to visit. Too much time, probably.

So the roofer has come and gone, and I liked the brown shingle sample he suggested. I also told him to go ahead and do the ridge vents and the gutters as he suggested. DS thought he was a nice guy too, and I guess I feel as at peace with this as I can. It was kinda a relief to have it done. He said he would call a few days ahead of time, but would probably be able to start in a couple weeks.

I may take a short nap and set an alarm so I don't wake up at 9:00 pm tonight!
Tomorrow is another day.

I called a friend to talk about my fear of possible bad news tomorrow. They listened. They also told me that they would always make an appointment after an x ray or other tests that included a machine. That was something I didn't know about them. I guess I'm just one of those that figures no news is good news based on a previous doctor I had for close to 20 years. He always told me that if I needed to know a test result, he would tell me if it was bad.

Dh has been sending me a recipe for beef and pasta shells. I finally decided to make it. I would give it 2 thumbs down. I wasted money on ingredients that didn't make the dish "luxurious" because they really didn't make the sauce much different than if I had just made a regular meat sauce. Dh liked it but didn't know why I put shredded cheese and cream into a sauce that was on pasta. He agreed that my regular meat sauce would have been much better.

I did a tiny bit of back stitching this afternoon. Here's hoping it sunny in the morning.

SKIPPABLE Garden chatter...
** Sweet potatoes have been a huge disappointment. I went to the best health food store to purchase organic sweet potatoes so i could grow the slips. I paid over $8 for 4 potatoes....which I consider to be outrageous price but worth it to get top quality organic to use as the base for growing all my sweet potatoes. What a huge disappointment. The sweet potatoes aren't growing slips like they should - that tells me they are not organic. They must have been sprayed or grown in soil that has chemicals. One out of the 4 potatoes finally started growing slips on a very small portion of the potato. I can only guess that small part of the potato wasn't sprayed by chemicals.
** Russet potatoes were growing well with green leaves about a 6" tall before the freeze happening last weekend. The top part of the green leaves froze and have died, but it appears the bottom part of the plant green leaves have survived. Will the freeze stunt the potato growth happening under the ground? Time will tell.
** The dozen pepper plants are looking amazing. They have quadrupled in size. They are in pots still so they can be brought indoors in case of a freeze. I'll transplant them into the raised bed when we get closer to April 10th typical last freeze date.
** Asparagus continue to grow like there is no tomorrow. It is a challenge to stay up with the abundance.

I did nap today. Hopefully, not too much, although it did move my schedule back.

Potatoes - that is a disappointment, LadyM. Maybe the one plant will be a stellar performer? Hmmm ... ..

Peppers - lots in our meal this evening, so HRH was happy.
If he does decide on containers this year, though, I doubt if he will go much beyond tomatoes without my encouragement, and I am not sure this is my year for veggies. I may stop with flowers.

Costumelady's barrels sound like a good container decision for a few tomatoes.

Glad to hear the decisions are over, lucylee.

So, the hard work of a conference call is scheduled for tomorrow and all the emails finally align like planets, with everyone agreeing with the lawyer's suggestion of a time. (This, in no small part, due to yours truly, cajoling and calling and encouraging stragglers.) I've got my desk ready for jotting down things I should remember and have made a short list of my own points, etc. Now, lawyer confirms, but will actually be "in the car". What? I worry that this is a sign that perhaps the serious attention is not really there.

Extra laundry handled today.
Lots of pinning for quilting.

Road repair work still causing a lot of disruption. HRH was talking about going out for breakfast early in the morning, but I hesitate to think it will be easy to do that.

Well, that does sound like his attention may be a bit divided, doesn't it, Harriet? I mean, we hope if he is the one driving, that at least part of his attention will be on the road. Who all will be on the conference call with you?

I did not really nap at all today, because my stomach has had me running to the bathroom constantly. I just took my 6th Imodium pills of the day and I hope I will be able to sleep tonight!
I've also been coughing a lot today -- telling myself (and my ladies at church) that it is allergies, but I did not go visit dcousin -- whether or not I'm contagious, the cough would make her and her dh very nervous. He is a total germaphobe!

So sorry to hear the sweet potatoes are such a disappointment, LadyM! (Personally, I'd be happy with the russet potatoes -- I've told you I probably eat a lot like your dd! Maybe they will turn out okay. I like bell peppers, too, if that's what you're growing. My dfil loved the small, kinda finger-shaped, hot peppers and usually had some of them growing right outside the back door. He'd go out and get a few before sitting down for a meal.)

(((Cathy))) I hope you are sound asleep and having happy dreams by now, and I will be praying for good news from the doctor.

WTG, Nancy, with keeping up with your walking. I have not exercised much these past couple days because of stomach issues -- activity seems to aggravate it.

I have dusted sorta sporadically, blessed. I still have the swiffers laying out here on my dresser.

Well, as I said, decision was made, all was well, I felt pretty good when the roofer left... and then... can we say AWKWARD???

The man who rents a house from me called and said HE had a leak. My original roofer, let's call him M, put the renter's roof on just a few years ago. Remember, that's when DS decided he would take care of that and we would give him the rent money.
Anyway... so now I HAVE TO call M.
I called... started telling who I am, trying not to mention my dad or anything -- because remember, M was my daddy's preferred roofer, M is about to do dbil's house, M is doing dmom's rental house, BUT... M did my house and in less than 10 years, all these problems started and M had two failed attempts to stop the leaks around the dormers.
SIGH.
M says, "Yes, you're in that house next door to... "
I filled in dbil's name.
M says, "Yeah... I just talked to your mama the other day; she said you have a leak too."
(Thanks dmom.)
I know I hesitated for a long while, and I finally said, "Yes... and I hate to tell you this... but after all the problems I've had, I decided to let someone else have a go at it this time."
He said, "Well, that's all right." Or something like that. He and I continued to talk about the crazy storms we've had these last few weeks, and he said he was working in this area this week anyway, so he would get to my renter by Friday.
I told him to either leave the bill with the renter or just bring it here to me, and he said, "Oh, there won't be a bill, there's no charge, we'll take care of it."

DS said it reminded him of Aunt Bea and the cheap meat she bought when the freezer died and her regular butcher said she could use his freezer...
"Miss Bea, you know I'm not going to charge you for the freezer space, as long as we've been friends..."

Whew. I still feel kinda awkward about it, but I know dh would have thought I'd lost my mind if I had let the same guy do this again after it has been nothing but problems. I'm reminding myself, it was over 10 years ago that ddad used him all the time, and he did a lot of work himself at that time, him and his sons. It was 16 years ago that they did mine. But now, he has multiple crews, I think. When he did the renter's house, he never did any work himself.
I hope he is not over there on dbil's house (next door) at the same time that the others are doing mine, but OTOH, he may not actually do the work on dbil's house either.

I'll probably be second-guessing myself for a while, but the company I'm using has been recommended by several friends. Some have metal roofs, but at least one has shingles, and he used them because his daughter, an insurance company adjuster in a neighboring town, recommended them to him.

Anyway... I better sign off and call it a night. Nothing on my agenda tomorrow until dgd's ballgame tomorrow. We're back to spring around here -- temps should be in the 60s when the game starts.
Tomorrow is another day.
