Re: Secateurs Saturday
Secateurs - secateurs or pruners for one hand, are the tool of choice for pruning and clipping flowers in the garden. They are able to cut all kinds of stems, from the tough rose to the thin Batchelor Button, and they are a handy garden tool.

Re: Secateurs Saturday
Good morning everyone and happy Saturday!
Trissie, I hope you enjoyed the theatre yesterday evening, and you have a lovely weekend at the cottage.
KitKat -thank you far asking after the bite - it's taking its time, but it's getting there. It was very deep ( Fred has long fangs!) but it's healing up from the bottom, which is what we want.
Bama, I'm sure your hair looks even more beautiful now!
L.Ann,.I hope you have a lovely day with your family celebrating your birthday.
Helia, I'm sure AC valued your input over the text books.
Dogged, good to know that Artemis has landed safely - those pictures they sent back were amazing!
Good to see you, Gma!
I never made it back yesterday, but I sprayed the rest of the roses, cut the grass and fed the pots , and attended to laundry. Today I need to check on C (DF PL's Mum) and take her for coffee at the community shop. I need to leave at 9.45 am, so I would like to have a quick run round with the hoover down before I leave, so when I come back the house looks welcoming! My other plans for today are to water on the nematodes against vine weevil, and to fi d a way of hanging the little sachets containing the predator mite on the fuchsias - there's not ait of too growth yet!
Have a good day everyone!

Re: Secateurs Saturday
◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
Kittykatt, thanks for the start. You've been very active in the garden ! Thanks for all the info on gardening tools this week. The word for secateurs is the same in French, sécateur. I will probably spend some time chasing dandelions, maybe sow sunflowers, maybe other things too.
Not CUOP - but I lurked a bit during the week. Kids are on school break for two weeks, I will have a few days off and MrNG will be home several days as well. It's grey but dry. DS10 has athletics practice and I will drive him. If I manage to get him out of bed. Supposed to leave in 35 minutes...
TADAs
had a decent night's sleep
tea
mail exchange with DM
TODO
whatever the morning brings
during the weekend : time on my résumé, some decluttering of outgrown clothes, some cleaning, some paperwork, some picture sorting...

Re: Secateurs Saturday
Good morning, as I wish for dandylions...
Kittykatt I just call those clippers... now I know better. Thanks for the start
Glad you are healing well:)
I love your TODO list, FFly
(Mine is: just keep going) Are you done with the visiting nurse?
The sun is shining. It's on the cool side.
We are supposed to have the gentleman to fix the stairs... Fingers crossed. - well, that just got cancelled for today...
Frustrating. (and dangerous if someone decides to walk on it... although I have a sign attached)
Then, the next thing:
meds/suppl.
D2S
take pup out for walk.

Re: Secateurs Saturday
Sounds like some gardening is in your future, FFB. Nice that you have some time off. I recognized secateurs as a French word, though it's not one I'm familiar with. I call those tools something ungraceful like, garden clippers. LOL! Or pruners.
Enjoy coffee out with C, Kitty! It sounds like you've been busy in your garden.
Our weather is similar, kitkat. It looks like the sun is now making its way through the clouds. Enjoy your walk!
Dh and I were tracking Artemis II during their trip. Dh had some concerns about their re-entry, so we were happy to see they arrived safely! Photos have been amazing!
It is gray and 40*F, but it looks like we'll have some sunshine this afternoon and get up to 54.
Yesterday late afternoon, I got in a short jog along the river path. I was very slow, but in the end, I enjoyed it. I even got to see a muskrat sitting on the shore eating something. I never regret getting out for a jog! Dh and I went to a nearby favorite bistro for a dinner of small plates. Then, we went for a walk.
Today, there are no meetings/ appointments/ events on the calendar! Woohoo!
However, there is a lot I'd like to get done. I'd like to whittle away the brain dump list. Also, I'm planning to join dh at a coffee shop to work ahead for S4 set up at payroll so that when we leave on Thursday, as much as possible will be done. I've invited AC to join us - and I think she will. I already have laundry going - though it's occurred to me that it might wake up M -- she sleeps very late but I want to get it done before we leave for a coffee shop. Dh and I are planning on going to see Hail Mary Project today! Probably not too late, maybe late afternoon-ish. I'll confer with him on what I should pull from the freezer for dinner.
Our bird feeder is empty again.

Re: Secateurs Saturday
a free day, helia? Don't you feel kinda anxious about that?
How many are you hosting tomorrow?
is it indoor or outside stairs, kitkat? I so get it being frustrated when you set everything for a repairman and then they don't come!
so, is "gardening scissors" not a real term, kittykatt? that would be the literal translation of what we say in Czech.
oooh, your kids are getting close to the teen "no getting up before lunch" phase, Frenchie!
My teens (well the girls aren't really teens, not till tomorrow) are indeed still in their PJs despite it being 1:30pm [ETA: they are dressed now that I found this post sitting unsent at 3pm
]. Up till about noon, I was of the opinion we were indeed leaving for the cottage, but you can't fight the tide, so we are staying home this weekend and going next weekend. I did have a lovely time at the theatre last night and I didn't get home till midnight (oh those after-parties!
so that contributed to a late start too. Apparently, Dinner with Friends has an HBO movie with Dennis Quaid, Andie MacDowell, Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette, and I would very much like DH's opinion on it, so I am putting it on our list.
It's twins' birthday tomorrow (13! I will officially have three teens in the house, though for all practical purposes, they've been teens for at least a year!), so I will take them birthday shopping - they want some "real jewellery", so that's what they'll be getting, plus they are likely a size up for their normal clothing and shoes.

Re: Secateurs Saturday
Ha ha trissie! I do feel kind of anxious that I'll just fritter the day away. Wow, 3 teens in the house! Your kids are really growing up.
M, our renter, is 26 years old and sometimes acts more like a teenager. She sleeps in very late after staying up very late playing games on her computer - but she'll probably be up before 1:30 pm. I think. . . And she told dh yesterday that she needs a break - from her job. In his mind, dh laughed and wondered from what? Her job is quite chill, less that 40 hours/ week (30-ish?) though she gets paid for full time work. She can do most of it remotely, so she just works from home. She's told us she can (and does) sometimes take a nap in the afternoon. She takes more vacations than we do. . .But we are a different generation, and I bet our ancestors would look at us and say we don't work very hard. LOL! Well, maybe not dh - but certainly me!
OTOH, M is also very easy to have around, quite clean and helpful. She has taken on our Sunday dinners, so she heats up all the food since we often are at CG2 and not available. She's not too intrusive. She cleans up after herself in the kitchen, etc. Her bathroom might be messier than I would have it, but I don't really worry about it. At her age, I was also messier.
