Trying to get us over to page 2...

I stitched for a while.

I emptied the dryer.

Now I'm going to play on the computer while CFL football continues to be the background of the day. Maybe I should play on Youtube instead. :D

Blessed, that is a beautiful poem!
I think I need to do all the things on your suggestions... vacuum the car! Oh my... it is HORRIBLE. Painting... the patio table is still half-done. (Lots of rain here the past few days.) Lots of stuff unfinished around here.

Like you, LadyM, everything is still green -- but I did notice a lot of yellow walnut tree leaves on the grass this morning. Fall is coming.
Our highs are settling into the 80s more often, although I do see 90 and 91 for next weekend. 53 for a low tomorrow night, which makes for cool mornings. It's 77 in Auburn where family is watching the ballgame. (DGS and I are enjoying being at home -- he surprised me tonight -- said he had RATHER watch on tv! He doesn't like the 3-hr trip, the confinement of the condo, the heat, or the crowd. Who knew? AND, he can keep up with ALL the games on Saturday if he is here. He is flipping channels constantly; I am in the bedroom watching AU and periodically checking Alabama. Both are playing games that should be easy wins and ahead by at least three touchdowns as the half approaches. Hmmm -- AL is leading Louisiana Monroe by
35-0 and the second quarter has about 9 minutes to go. We're ahead of Ball State by 21-0 at halftime.)
BTW -- Oklahoma is winning. He just came in to give me an update. :lol:

So -- I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and went ahead and put on jeans and a t-shirt, went back to bed. Internet man was expected between 8-12, and I had been told plainly that he would call when he was on his way. DGD insisted I get up around 8:30. She ate... I watched some TV and tried to stay awake. Finally, around 11:30, I heard his truck. NO PHONE CALL WARNING. He was here less than 30 minutes, replaced a wire under the floor, and was on his way. DGD and I went out for lunch and I then took her home and got DGS.

HOWEVER, after I got home with him, I had a new burst of energy, and I watered the plants, emptied the dishwasher, reloaded it, and washed the few items in the sink. I also vacuumed the master bedroom and bathroom.

NANCY -- 1000 DAYS!!! WOW!!! :!: You go, girl!!! That is amazing. If I could accomplish something like that I would be so proud of myself I would burst! :D

Cathy, I need to see what type meats I have in the freezer -- it's all beef, but what type roasts, exactly, etc. I need to find recipes and use up some of this beef I won last fall!.It's kind of ridiculous.
Ha! I sleep best to football background noise! Actually, any sport is good for sleeping conditions as far as I am concerned. LOL. Like rain on the rooftop.
DH said, "I thought you said you were a football fan when I married you!"
I said, "I thought I was." :roll: :lol:

I bet I won't be entering a drawing for a quarter of a steer again. I have considered driving to the state line for lottery tickets, but I don't expect I could be that lucky again. Except for a mini tv at a faculty meeting once, I have never won anything.

Lauralind, I hope your DS has a good year. My DGS is in 8th grade and has an IEP for autism.

I'm kinda sad because he is just about the only kid on his football team who hasn't got in for even one play in the first three games, BUT... he says it does not bother him -- he knows he is not a great athlete, and ddil and DS say he is just happy to be a part of the team. He went with the varsity team last night and helped the defensive coach keep up with plays called and results thereof, and I think he enjoyed that. It was the first time he's ridden the varsity bus without DS going along. I'm really just happy he is outgoing enough to enjoy being involved. When he was first diagnosed with autism, he was very introverted and never really interacted with other kids in pre-k and kindergarten. We didn't know how team sports would work out for him, but it has been a good thing for him, I think.
Actually, yesterday when I picked him up at practice, his first t-ball coach came over to our car and told him, "I just want you to know I'm proud of you, J. You are always hanging in there being supportive of the team and doing all you can, and a lot of kids wouldn't do that. You just keep on and your day will come." Now this guy's son is the quarterback, and he is one of those kids who is going to be a star in every sport -- he would be our best receiver if he wasn't throwing the ball, he's the best baseball player dgs' age, and the best basketball player their age.
DGS of course, said to me after he left, "Well, he's wrong about that; my day isn't going to come." I said why did he say that, and he said, "Because I'm no good!" But he likes being at the games and doing his part, I guess.

Harriet, I know you are glad to have an easier time of organizing computer files. Good luck with kitchen re-organization.

Well, I put my "plan" in the Autumn 2025 Cardfiles thread, so y'all can see what high hopes I have. This is all on one sheet of paper, but I have to fold it in half to fit in my planner. The dailies are on one half and all the others on the other half. If does help me stay on track a little bit, if I can just push myself to BEGIN. Dee was sooo right; "Begun IS half-done." I've been doing a pretty good job of keeping up this week, and I can use one sheet for the whole month.

For the remainder of my weekend "need to do" list, I have
* check meats in the freezer
* find recipes for those meats, including taco soup and Mississippi roast
* make grocery list
* go to w-mart
* return shirts to B*lk (that won't happen till next week)

Next week, I have all the outdoor tasks to do (paint, spray weeds, clean porch furniture, etc), along with
* prepare Wed. night lesson, which is difficult because there is no study guide or teacher's guide for the book we decided to use -- I will be looking online
* clean the clutter of papers/books/misc on my ironing board
* take pants to lady to hem
* DGS ballgame Monday
* Downton Abbey movie starts Friday in theaters :!: :!:
* :shock: :?: people dmom sold lady to want to have dmom and me for supper soon! EEEK! Y'all know how I will be nervous about this.
OTOH, they are former students and two of the sweetest people you could imagine. I mean, who else wants to thank the person who sold them land -- which they covered all closing expenses, perk test, etc to begin with -- and still want to have us for dinner? I had absolutely NOTHING to do with this sale, either. I guess they're just including me since dmom is alone and they know me from school. I told dmom I was free this weekend with DS/family going to the ballgame, so we'll see if that happens.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good evening, everybody!

BWTG, Nancy!!!!!

Finally finished grocery order. Am concerned -- it said I could redeem points for a discount. I clicked to redeem the points -- and I didn't get the discount. Grr! Hoping it will come off when the order is complete. (I try to save up points for when we're doing a big shopping run, since they're good for a percentage off, and this is a big one -- I don't know when I've seen our freezer so empty.)

We're going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. On the way there, we will stop and drop off my work computer at the UPS store. When they let me go, they said they would send a box so I could send it back; I said I could probably just as easily take the computer back to them myself, as I only live a couple of miles from their headquarters. I should have done that -- the box they sent is four times the size it needs to be, and it would cost me $20 to have UPS come pick it up. So I need to take this unwieldy thing to the UPS store. Well, while it is further from my house than the company itself, it's at least on the way to the grocery store we use.

I am coming down with a cold. I am hoping it will be like DC's and not like DD's. DC was able to get through their week fine; DD had to call off work on Friday. Monday is my birthday, and I've been looking forward to going out to a fancy dinner, which will be of no use if I'm too congested to taste anything. And Saturday, we are headed out to see Weird Al in concert. This already has me in enough of a tizzy as I try to figure out how I'm going to physically get through the space. We need to get there early to be sure of handicapped parking, as I was not willing to pay $200 or more to guarantee parking in a close-in lot. But then what do I do while we're waiting? I can't stand for very long. I have my cane/seat, but I don't entirely trust it. There's time between when the parking opens and when the gates open and when the seating opens and when the show starts, and the times aren't consistent from show to show, and the times for the Weird Al show are not available yet. So I've got myself all tied up in knots with worry.

Oh, well. I am going to make myself a nice cup of hot tea and send myself to bed. Sweet dreams, everybody!
