thanks d harmony!!!- it was weird this year - I make chicken stock all the time but there was a lot of grease at the bottom of the turkey - the place we got it from (raw but set up) must have had over a pound of butter on it (easily 2) - it was cooked in a bag. I wonder if I should have rinsed it off - I think that would have been the answer before throwing the bones in water.

I wish I was at your house... I love the smell of stock/chicken broth being made!

lol about the bushy tree!!! love it!!!

Did take care of Christmas gifts for most of DS-A's family last night. Ordered E-gift cards for Disney for each of them (4). Great answer for me and they surely will enjoy it. I included their niece since she's going with them and is living with them. Why not give them something that they can all truly enjoy in this crazy year. Because they've all had Covid they feel safe in going to Disney. And I know there's all sorts of protocols being followed there. Can they afford it right now? Probably not but they all need a fun break -don't we all?

Discovered something interesting (to me anyway) in a Christmas movie I was watching today. This pair supposedly went outside of NYC for her to show him a 'small town Christmas'. First thing I saw was a "Vidler's" sign and immediately thought "East Aurora, NY". Later when dh and I rewatched part of it I saw "Aurora Theater" and then a number on a door: 692. Vidler's runs from 674-694 on that street. If you can't find it there, you probably can't find it anywhere. It's quite the destination store south of Buffalo. Been there a few times.

well I had to stop the lights as I didn't buy enough new lights. I have recycled the old faded lights at our town hall. dh will go look tomorrow at the hardware store.

vacuumed front room
put ornament boxes in one spot
picked up any garbage -
I won't decorate the tree until the coloured lights are on the top - the white lights are on the tree already.

I left the kids doing their school assignments under the supervision of DH while I went to the city to do a few errands. I pick up a replacement CPAP mask for DH and 5 prescriptions for him. The SHE cards keep us reminded when it is time to get a new CPAP mask. The insurance will pay for a new mask every 6 months.

Both of the kids did about 5 hours of school today but had to stop when the internet went out. It is back on now but we have all lost motivation to resume their lessons.

DS12 and his friend are outside working on the gazebo with an abundance of creative plans. They told me they are designing plans to build a moat around the gazebo and are including a drawbridge in their future plans. I just nod, smile, and ask a few questions but overall I'm staying out of this project. I think it is good for kids to create things even though they make no logical sense to me.

I am making... PROGRESS!!!
Load of laundry ready to be switched from washer to dryer/hanging...
Second load ready to go...
Most of the main household area vacuumed, still need to do around the rugs in den, hallway, dining room...
Called for allergy vial refills...
Delivered gift to friend...
Post office... corrected gift received, wrapped, put under tree...
Paid phone bill...
Found phone numbers for dmom to call re: washing machine repair...
Texted dxsisil, got gift suggestion for dniece/dnephew -- BLESSED -- I had an A-HA moment last night!!! It will be perfect!
Called dfriends to invite to Opry this weekend since ds/ddil don't want our extra tickets. (Dgrands are going with us.)
Talked to dmom on phone...
Talked to ds on phone... dh has cleaned out his closet and wants ds to come see if he can wear (and would like!) any of the discards that dh has outgrown.

Must continue before I lose my momentum.
Tomorrow is another day.

I am stunned.
I don't know how to process this information.

I just received an email from DD9 teacher saying "After averaging in all of her extra work, she has reached 100% complete in my grade book. I'm so proud of her and how hard she has worked. I hope she has a wonderful Christmas break!! "

On one hand, I'm thrilled.
On the other hand, I'm frustrated that the assignments DD9 worked on today don't get graded and don't count. She worked hard on all those problems for nothing. Our plans for the rest of the week are for nothing. **Phffft**

Since August we have been working toward Dec 18th end of the semester. Many emails have been received with the dire warning to complete the assignments or you couldn't take a Christmas break. Now I feel like sorta a dunce for believing those emails.

OHS well.....I need to release the frustration and just accept this news as a gift. Since DD9 is done with school for the rest of the year, I'm going to release DS12 from his assignments too.

WE ARE ON CHRISTMAS BREAK!
