Art, Craft and Needlework, June 2009

Post by Harriet »

This is the place to report on the fun stuff!

What has your creative juices flowing this month? Do you have a new technique you're mastering? Is there a new project that you're planning? Or are you delighted to be completing some UnFinished Objects and feeling virtuous?

If you've gotten any compliments on your art, here's the place to brag! We really want to hear. If you've taken a picture you'd like to share, check out the Tips Hints forum to find the different ways to do that, and let us see. There you'll find Kathryn's "Posting Pictures" and Indiana's "Sizing Pictures Using MS Paint".

Just wanted to thank all for the nice comments on my cards. I enjoy making them so very much!

What I love to hear about is the enjoyment it gives you, Twins.

Just some mending creativity here these days.

I took the buttons from a raggedy pair of pajamas of my dad's and sewed them onto a pair that was still nice but missing buttons. Worked perfectly - same large buttonhole size and lets him keep pajames that are soft and comfortable (the new ones we've bought are kinda scratchy to him).

My mom unstitched a few inches in the middle back of a multi-stitched elastic waistband on a favored pair of slacks, keeping the threads intact, then tied the threads off rather than let them unravel more. The waistband is less tight but still neat looking.

More Alterations News :) I'm usually pretty comfortable with the length of most "average" length pants. I had ordered a pair of pants I liked but had to send them back because the "stride" was too short. I exchanged them for a "tall", cut away 2.5 inches of length, then hemmed them with a simple machined hem and they fit very nicely. So much so I'm thinking of ordering another pair.

Dd29 complimented the forest quilt (still in pieces on the design wall). I sure do wish I could have more than 24 hours per day, but only the necessary things are happening right now.

Next up, hemming another pair of pants for my mom.
