It's August and, by the end of the month, we're going to have to admit summer is over. Now, I was not the first to say it, but I will repeat it, so hold onto something. In another thread blessedwith2 has mentioned preparations for... ... the holidays. (Steady... steady.... Take deep breaths.)
Here are some funnies about choosing which UFOs to finish, which to toss, and which to let "ripen", gleaned from The Art Tartz, Debbie Bates and Liz Kettle:
WOMBAT: a Waste Of Material, Batting And Time. Always release wombats!
Stimulus Plan: beginning a whole new project instead, to do your part for national economic relief
"The brightest, most sophisticated and creative people are the biggest procrastinators. Leonardo Da Vinci was legendary for never finishing projects on time and left scores of UFOs for us to wonder about. Accept your genius."
We hope you'll join us in this thread - we'll sit and create together, show off our work to each other! Let us know what projects you're starting, continuing or releasing.
Yes, they are just gorgeous, LisaB. Thanks so much for sharing. It must have been so pleasant to work on them. What size will the project eventually be? Or are they for individual projects?
Nancy, I think it's wonderful you are contributing to the shelter. What kinds of things do they like to receive? I once taught quiltmaking to a group of ladies who made quilts for the local women's shelter. Eventually, that group gave up because the shelter grew and grew and they couldn't keep up, but it was meaningful for them while it lasted.
I like to make lab size robes
about the size of a baby blanket
in various colors some
with guys in mind.
Slippers, soxs or hats are great if that's what you like to knit or crochet.
I give gift bags prayer shawls and lap robes mostly,
I've really not had any thing refuzed.
For family members photos are a hit!
Frames and decorating a bulletin board.
One time we had an extra on hand gift I
took it up when we went to see fil when he
was still alive and they gladly accepted it.
Sugar free reduced salt easy to chew food items
one thing to remember.
Coffee mug with cocoa mix is good too.
