Health and Fitness July 2025
I asked AI "What are healthy habits?"
Healthy habits are behaviors that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being, consistently practiced to improve overall health. They include:
Nutrition: Eating a balanced diet rich in whole foods like vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. Limiting processed foods, added sugars, and excessive salt.
Exercise: Engaging in regular physical activity, such as 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise weekly, plus strength training.
Sleep: Getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep nightly to support recovery, mood, and cognitive function.
Hydration: Drinking adequate water daily, typically 8-10 cups, depending on activity level and climate.
Mental Health: Practicing stress management techniques like mindfulness, meditation, or journaling, and seeking social support or professional help when needed.
Hygiene: Maintaining personal hygiene, such as regular handwashing, dental care, and grooming, to prevent illness.
Screening and Check-ups: Scheduling regular medical check-ups, screenings, and vaccinations to catch and prevent health issues early.
Moderation: Limiting alcohol, avoiding smoking, and reducing caffeine or other stimulants to maintain balance.
Social Connection: Building and maintaining positive relationships to foster emotional health and reduce loneliness.
Time Management: Prioritizing tasks and setting boundaries to reduce stress and create time for self-care.
Adopting these habits consistently, tailored to individual needs, supports long-term health.

I'm going to try to channel LadyM and KittyKatt and work on a "habit of the month." It's stretching, particularly for my hip. 15 minutes.

I'm going to continue with both my habits - pelvic floor exercises and drinking water.
The first is reasonably well ingrained as a habit, but, as it needs to be a life long thing in order to beost effective, I'm going to keep listing it so I'm accountable. Probably indefinitely. The second - I'm noticing those days when I do concentrate on drinking enough water, I have more energy and my skin feels better and looks less tired. (Surely this alone should be an encouragement?)But there's still room for improvement!

I am right there with you. Listing the habits keeps me accountable. These were not easy habits for me to establish, so it is worth the effort to keep them.it needs to be a life long thing in order to beost effective, I'm going to keep listing it so I'm accountable.
July habit to focus on = Enjoy eating a salad. Salad days are the best days!

I'm in total agreement with this, there are habits I think I need to be accountable for, ideally for many more months, maybe forever.
So I'm sticking to my two habits, flossing and pelvic floor exercises, and I'm adding 2 minutes of strength training during the day. I think I already do it most days, at work or in front of the microwave or other short moments like that, but maybe not for 2 minutes. I would like to somehow give it some structure, like days for the legs / days for the arms. Also, trying to really have a total of 2 minutes daily.
This, added with one or two real sessions of weekly strength training, that I do most weeks.
1. Pelvic floor :
2. Flossing daily : ☆
3. 2 mns strength training during the day : ✮
I'm starting the month with a don't-break-the-chain attitude and I expect it will work. It did in June.
If I count the previous month, I'm actually at 31 stars for habits 1 and 2, yay!
