Art, Craft and Needlework, September 2009
So much interest around the village right now in preparations for a happy holiday season. Our Art, our Crafts and our Needlework plays such a FUN part in that.
Creativity may have had to take a back seat with school year prep and summer activities, but it would be great to make a plan for including it in our days now! Some planning now can let our creativity bring happy surprises to others later, either as handmade gifts or as beautiful decor for holiday welcomes. What are YOU planning?

Anyone interested in the Holiday Grand Plan's recommendations for how you might spend your creative time in September?
Thought it might be interesting to have a quick reference in one place for just the creative/handmade timeline of HGP's concept of the month:
Week 1 – week of August 31
Make the following lists:
• Gifts to be given, amount to spend (include family, friends, school, church, etc)
This week's printable forms from OrganizedChristmas.Com include:
• master gift list
Week 2 – week of Sept 7
• Develop ideas for gifts, decorations.
• Divide gift responsibilities with other family members.
This week's printable forms from OrganizedChristmas.Com include:
• gifts to make list
Week 3 – week of Sept 14
Buy all supplies for homemade gifts. Package each project with directions and other information in zipper food storage bag and place in a basket or box in craft/sewing area.
Week 4 – week of Sept 21
• Work at least 1 hour a day on homemade gifts.
This week's printable forms from OrganizedChristmas.Com include:
• gift closet inventory
Week 5 – week of Sept 28
• Work at least 1 hour a day on homemade gifts.
This week's printable forms from OrganizedChristmas.Com include:
• gift ideas planner

I'm still knitting up prayer shawls
and have a sweater of granny squares to assemble.
Finished a dish cloth will be connecting those
in to something larger not sure what yet.
Will be doing more granny squares this fall for
another project in a different color as time allows.
I've cut back on my crafting as my shoulder hurts if I do too much
and with more granny duty I have less time so it was good
that I cleared out most of the fabric
and kept at the knitting projects all year long
for the fall prayer shawl give a way.

Re: Art, Craft and Needlework, September 2009
I just finished up a prayer shawl for my sister. I'm quite happy with it and can't wait to give it to her.
This was a UFO for far too long. The reason I had quit working in on it with only a little fringe left to do: I wanted to hand-make a cute card to go with it and couldn't figure out what to do with that. Once I finally convinced myself to give up on the card, I could finish the project. Being a SHE is a handicap sometimes. sheesh.

Every day is an adventure!
