Re: Raquel Welch Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Jo Raquel Welch (née Tejada; September 5, 1940 – February 15, 2023) was an American actress. Welch first gained attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage (1966), after which she signed a long-term contract with 20th Century Fox. They lent her contract to the British studio Hammer Film Productions, for whom she made One Million Years B.C. (1966). Although Welch had only three lines of dialogue in the film, images of her in the doe-skin bikini became bestselling posters that turned her into an international sex symbol.
She later starred in Bedazzled (1967), Bandolero! (1968), 100 Rifles (1969), Myra Breckinridge (1970), Hannie Caulder (1971), Kansas City Bomber (1972), The Last of Sheila (1973), The Three Musketeers (1973), The Wild Party (1975), and Mother, Jugs & Speed (1976). She made several television variety specials.
Through her portrayal of strong female characters, helping her break the mold of the traditional sex symbol, Welch developed a unique film persona that made her an icon of the 1960s and 1970s. Her rise to stardom in the mid-1960s was partly credited with ending Hollywood's vigorous promotion of the blonde bombshell. Her love scene with Jim Brown in 100 Rifles also made cinematic history with their portrayal of interracial intimacy. She won a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 1974 for her performance as Constance Bonacieux in The Three Musketeers and reprised the role in its sequel the following year.
She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Television Film for her performance in Right to Die (1987). Her final film was How to Be a Latin Lover (2017).

Re: Raquel Welch Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for the start. I hope you didn't mind me adding the biographical details for Raquel Welch - I'm guessing you were called away from the computer on urgent business!
Bama, I'm glad you're getting out and socialising more. I think the lack of talking by DH's is probably a man thing. My DH often just grunts when I'm talking to him. OTOH, if he's telling me something *he's* interested in, he's quite loquacious!
Thinking of you with your early start today, Helian. You're a very seasoned traveller, so I'm sure it will all go well.
Gma, I'm glad you're pleased with the landscaper's work. In my experience, I ternet I stals can either be fast and straightforward ... or not! I'm glad your DMum didn't hurt herself when she fell.
I hope you enjoyed Wild Robot, L Ann.
Dogged, WTG for a nice walk with Germane and getting laundry done!
I never made it back here yesterday, but I had a successful afternoon doing housework, made chicken and vegetable in soup for supper with fresh bread from the bread maker soup, and started my reply to MD's very long detailed email re Parish Christmas lunch. I need to do more to that today.
Also today, DH goes to the office, I need to clean the kitchen and tidy the rest of the house. 15 minutes decluttering in the bedroom would also be good -It seem to be failing at that so far this week. Never mind! And a walk and some garden time if the weather holds. We are forecast some rain, but, of course, it may not happen!

Re: Raquel Welch Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Thanks for the start, trissie. I hope you're having a good day.
I hope it stayed dry so you could get some outside time, Kitty. How's the email coming along?
Have a good walk, L Ann. I see you get up early!
I'm up early (for me), drinking my coffee. I'll head to the shower soon. Pick up time is in 1:10, though I hope she's a little late. That's pretty early; it's about a 30 minute drive to the airport. We'll get there around 8 a.m. I don't need to check my bag, though I might. . .
Dinner last night was fun! The young man working on the book with dh and AA joined us; he's their Greek scholar, heading to an Ivy League school on the east coast in a couple of weeks for grad work. The conversation was interesting and engaging for everyone, I think. Guests were gone by 8:40 pm. Dh did most of the garbage and recycling. I packed, just need to add last minute items this morning. I got a jigsaw puzzle set up on my laptop to do on the flight - if I'd like.
I got everything set up for my class and the sub earlier in the day. It took a while.
My afternoon PD meeting was just 1 hour, so that was very helpful. I had about 5.5 hours of payroll. And tons of communication with lots of people coordinating different things, like: checking the house insurance payment, acknowledging symphony tickets bought by a friend and having dh venmo her, tons of payroll, my hair stylist, dd27 re: watching Fable or not (I said not), dd29 re: visiting mom, dbro re: his upcoming visit, ddil re: the baby shower, S and J re: travels today - and probably more I'm forgetting. All those conversations HAD to happen on the busiest day I've had in a couple months.
Watch - today, no one will want to message me. LOL!
Today, I'll be traveling to Maine with friends S2 and J! I'm not sure what we'll do once there, but I think a grocery trip is on the schedule. Hopefully also some walking or hiking somewhere!
My weight bumped up again this morning, the day I'm weighing in for the week. Of course.
Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- finish packing last minute items
Later:
- make the bed
- reclaim the kitchen
- 7:30 pick up time
- 10:12 flight time
- find friend K!
- grocery store
- lunch at some point, I'm hoping
- settle into bnb
- not sure
- duo
- update health apps
- dinner: TBD
- maybe, evening phone call with dh

Re: Raquel Welch Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, L.Ann and Helia!
Enjoy your walk, L Ann. Is the weather more pleasant to be outside these days?
Dinner yesterday evening sounded lovely, Helia! You've certainly been very busy . I hope you have a safe journey and a relaxing time with your friends.
This morning, I've worked on that email, in between bouts of tidying, dusting and hoovering in upstairs, and taking Freddie out, so I could think over what I had written so far, and what more I needed to say. And it's now sent,.so I can tick it off my list.
It was basically answering MD's long very detailed email about Christmas parish lunch, gratefully accepting the offers of help, answering her questions, outlining some more ideas and asking some questions of my own. I think it will be good to have the back up from wise, experienced people who have done this kind of thing many times. (Writing out my invitations for my 7th birthday party many years ago doesn't really count as experience!
).
I'm going to do my something in my front garden next, and then maybe go for a walk if it isn't too hot. I'll leave the back garden until the evening when it's cooler, as I need to water my pots today, and I want them to be out of the sun for that. And then, there's the kitchen!

Re: Raquel Welch Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
At first I read that the actual pick up is at 1:10, helia, and I thought that you have quite a long ride to the airport to only get there at 8am! Safe travels!
hi there, L.Ann! Sorry about the bad night
kittykatt, you are right, I submitted the opening post, then got kinda lured into the internet rabbit holes, and then I had to log on to work like, right away!
Bama, you asked on Sunday, I think - all kids are at the scout camp, for two weeks. DBD is coming home this Saturday and the others on Sunday.
And we are very much enjoying the adult time - we went to a very nice restaurant yesterday. I don't know what the concept is called - you pay a lump sum for the food, and they have all kinds of grilled meats and other grilled stuff (like salsicia sausages, grilled cheeses, pineapple, fried bananas etc) and the servers just walk around with the meat on a grillling stick and ask if you want to sample that one kind of meat and then just cut off a slice for your plate. There sides like salads and fries and breads, but basically you spend the first hour getting a piece of everything just to try it, and the next hour wistfully looking at all the meats being paraded around by your table while you can't stomach a single piece of anything, and then you go home
For obvious reasons, it's a popular venue for company team events, so I'd been there twice with my team for pre-Christmas dinner at my previous job, and we went there with DH last summer when kids were at the camp and we both really liked it. Maybe next year!
Working from home today, with no big plans for the evening (we're so NOT going out to eat today!
) I mean, we're binge watching second season of Andor, so there's some fun planned too. I'm done with work for the day, so off to get some cleaning done!
