"Mambo No. 5" is based on a 1949 instrumental by Dámaso Pérez Prado. Lou Bega added new lyrics and a modern pop sound to create his hit version.

Lou Bega describes the song as being about "the sloppy, mistake-prone journey of finding love as a young adult."

Mambo No.5 became a world hit and reached the number 1 chart position in over 20 countries around the world. This sweeping worldwide success was rewarded by five folded platinum awards and gold discs in over 20 countries and an artist Grammy nomination – the result of over 15 million single & album sold copies.

Reflecting on the song's 20th anniversary, Bega said, "Twenty years is nothing. Like a shadow, a vapour, it's gone in one second."

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I'm now going to have Mambo No 5 in my head all day!

It's dark and rainy and I definitely did not went to respond to the also this morning! But I'm very glad I got the front garden almost ready for winter on Saturday while the weather was still kind, even if my joints are still complaining. I need to look on today as a good opportunity to get things done round the house. DH is going to the office, so I need to make the most of those hours. Maybe I can get some deep cleaning / decluttering done too?

I need a few more minutes for the lightbox to work it's magic, then I should have the energy and motivation to face the day. :D

Merry Monday, all!

And especially good morning to you, kittykatt, even though you may not feel it! :-)

Getting up in the dark is not my favourite thing, but it's gonna be getting worse for two months before it starts to get better!

I kinda disappeared yesterday - after lunch, I decided that I have way too many small errands (read: various shops from which I need one or two things, and which are out of my regular home-work-school-home route), so I hopped in the car and went to the nearest mall which had all of the shops I really needed (not all the shops I would LIKE to go to, but going to a fabric store was totally not necessary and that mall did not have all the stores I needed). Got home to kids just starting to carve pumpkins, made dinner, checked homework, cleaned up after pumpkin carving (oh boy, that was BAD! and at 9pm, I wanted the kids in bed, not cleaning), and just collapsed on the sofa doing my silly cellphone game. So, that was my weekend!

Working from home - well I have a six hour online seminar on legislative framework of AI use in business, starting at 9. So I theoretically have 1:30 to get going on housework before it starts, and then I could ready some brainless stuff to do while listening to it (like mending or sorting through colored pencils and sharpening them). Sounds like a plan! :-)

Trissie, that sounds a very good plan for using your time productively today! Thank you for the timely reminder that there's only 2 more months of shortening daylight before the days start to gradually get longer again. I don't know why, but it worked on my weird brain , and provided some optimism. :D (Of course that means it's almost exactly 2 months until DH"s birthday and just over 2 months until Christmas, but I'm not thinking about that right now! )

DH has left for work. I've done my PT exercises, and now I need to write down some thoughts I've had:

I need to get something going in the slow cooker today, so it's more welcoming for DH when he comes home on a dark, wet evening. (I think he's struggling a bit ATM, as there's still no news about his retirement , and having made the decision, he's ready to go. I have a suspicion that nothing will be decided this side of Christmas,.and maybe not even until well into the new year. Government depas always mover verrrrry slowly! Maybe tomato and butter bean soup? Or, if we don't have butter beans then find the recipe for the sausage casserole with baked beans that will sit happily in the slow cooker.

The landing bookcase can mostly be decluttered and cleaned one one shelf at a time. It is not an "all or nothing" job! ( The three lowest shelves are, in fact a free standing bookcase, which does need to have even taken off so I can clean behind it, but that can be left until DH is away next month. There is nothing to stop me tackling the other shelves one at a time!)

Rainy days are a gift to work on the house. I just need motivation and good lighting!

Some down time with Jude is also a blessing.

Reading is a good use of time, but it needs to be uplifting, not doomscrolling on my phone!

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

Trissie thanks for the music in my head all morning :D if you're supposed to listen to your seminar and nothing else, maybe ironing is an option too ?

Kittykatt glad you could enjoy the last sunny day before who knows when...

I managed to walk DS7 to daycare - at this age parents have to walk in with them and at least say hello to the team - and drop DS9 to the sports center, and he can walk himself there alone from now on, and I was on time at payroll. And MrNG left at 7.30 for a whole week of training an hour away.
Heavy rain and wind started just as I was sitting down at my desk.
So, that's a good start to the week.

TADAs
Unusual morning rush
All on time
Started payroll

TODOs
Well, payroll stuff.

Good morning, FFB! It's very good to "see"you on a week day. WTG getting both DSs to where they needed to be and yourself to work on time.

I've spent 30 minutes writing down random thoughts for my report to the CMA. This is a good start..If I can even manage just 15 minutes a day, by the end of the week I should have something that I can organise into a logical reasonably well constructed report . Thanks to the wonders of modern day tech, especially "cut and paste", it doesn't have to be perfect to begin with! And just getting something written down helps overcome the "block" of starting. :D
