What did you learn in 2025 that you want to use in 2026?
for me: Working with all of you gives me so much joy!!! I am grateful for all of you!
what worked for you?

How about today - how can you keep things simple and joyful without pressing yourself to "do it all"w

What a great subject, bw2. Yesterday a friend posted on FB about this site: https://yearcompass.com/gb/ This is a several page review of the year, and plans for next. The download booklet is free. I downloaded it to print but I'm not sure I'm up to that level of review and planning. Probably more appropriate for someone like my friend who has an active genealogy career going...
I'm not even sure I'm up to the level of introspection to think about bw2's questions.
I'm pretty achy and worn out this a.m. from dh's party last night. Today is quiet at least. I need to go out to pick up his present, and we're having dinner out tonight with A and V. Today is some time for me in between other stuff.

I have been listening to a book.
I asked the family to think about what they want to experience or learn this year so that we can put it in the calendar. for the end of January. it has worked for us before and I know what I want to try.

thank you for sharing d twins! I can't wait to look at that!
I am not there yet either - I am putting away the holiday stuff and I "might" write down what worked, (for the holidays,) and what didn't on a 3 x 5 for next year.
I hope you get some quiet soon!
hope your body feels less achy as the day moves forward. Glad you are going to put aside some time just for you!
May you have a lovely lovely week - filled with peace!
Hmm... what has worked for me?
• Consistently using my cards makes things easier. Things have gotten so much better since I picked up the cards again a few weeks ago. I'm still not consistently getting through the whole stack each day, but it does help keep me on track.
• Finding an ADHD medication that works for me. It was a long process, and the med I've found does not work so well that I'd call it a game changer, but it does make a difference.
• Making incremental changes in my diet. Working with the nutritionist, I think I've lost about thirty pounds this year -- only a small dent for me, but a dent nonetheless. Some things that have worked have seemed almost silly -- putting the snacks in a box so they're out of sight has really helped me cut down and get out of the habit of snacking. I've been indulging in some Christmas cookies, but I haven't really been going to town on them. The ADHD meds may be helping with that as well, both in terms of reducing my appetite and diminishing my impulse to snack.
I still need to work on being more assertive when I need help or even when things are bothering me. In both cases, I am just likely to bite my tongue -- and sometimes to stew about it, which does nobody any good. I am also hoping to get some more exercise with the help of my new walking pad. (Sadly, I have not gotten to try it yet; DH has a big folding table in there to sort papers, so the walking pad is blocked off for now. I am happy, though, that the papers are getting sorted.
Things I need to do today:
• Possibly go out to pick up DD's prescription, depending on how the weather is this afternoon. (They said that we could pick it up after 2.)
• Attack Mt. Dishmore. All of yesterday's dinner dishes, pots and pans are there, as well as everything I used to make a batch of spritz last night.
• Get a load of wash done (or two if I'm lucky/industrious).
• Get DC to register for class!!! They keep putting it off, and I'm worried they're going to be locked out of things that they need.
I think if I can get those done, I will feel accomplished, though I would like to do another batch of spritz.
Yesterday's accomplishments: In addition to doing some laundry and making a batch of spritz, I finally did a good cleaning on the bathroom! I've been putting that off forever, it seems.
Regarding Lake Erie: I still have not gone down the block to see for myself, but apparently waves off Cleveland are running 8-12 feet, which is still plenty, even if not 30! The lake is experiencing what is called a seiche -- effectively, the whole lake is being blown eastward, so while the eastern end is seeing those 30-foot waves, the western end is high and dry. They showed pictures of docks with no water beneath them. I can't find those, but here's a news story from Toledo with plenty of pictures: WTOL story

Frenchflybebe started a "Goals, Intentions, Predictions" thread in Fun and Games, btw.
On my phone and not sure when I'll be back home but definitely want to think about blessed's topic and post later.
Lucylee, seems like those relatives are just adjusting to a new normal for you as a guest, etc. it doesn't necessarily mean anything more. You can do as much or as little as your want. I mean, if you wanted, you could drop off the ham, hug and wave, and not even stay any longer. You always have options.
Not much insight to share, I just wanted to thank Twins'Mom :

Twins' Mom, thank you for sharing this link. I had a look, very interesting.
Mystery 30 pounds is an amazing loss!! The next time you go to a grocery store, go and pick up a 10 pound bag of potatoes. That times 3 is really a lot! I'm so proud of you being able to do that!!
I saw those pictures of the west end of Lake Erie! There is also a picture of a cottage on Long Point covered in frozen snow mixed with sand.
I've emptied the dishwasher and I've also washed all the pots and pans.
It's another cold and blustery day here. The youngest cat has been out twice. Neither trip out was very long. She knows enough to get on to the outside ledge of any window. All I need to do is wave at her and she's at the back door by the time I open it. Right now she's sleeping in her laundry basket.

Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
