Try It Tuesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something. - Franklin D. Roosevelt
Over in Health and Fitness, Bama has been working at trying new things this month. How can you incorporate "try it" into your day? I heard a wonderful example of research using AI yesterday and am chomping to try it sometime soon.

Class doesn't start until 10:30 this morning, two hours from now. I need to get moving. It's twelve degrees out, at least the wind has dropped because that's the "feels like" temp as well.

Off to the shower.

update: shower is frozen. You would think that in new construction they would do better. In fact, I distinctly remember the "designer" saying that they didn't want to put the shower controls on the wall to the outside of the house to minimize chances of freezing. But apparently they weren't smart enough to keep water pipes out of that wall???? or something, but in spite of the slight drip, it's only dripping. I have water turned to on and heater going in bathroom to try to warm it all up.

I love that you added this post to our week! thank you dear twins!
Try it! wonderful!

it is so true that if it works - fantastic - if it does not - fantastic -try again - try a new way - learn from it.

oh no your shower is frozen - praying it defrosts fast!
- the plumbers put a opening door behind my shower (in a closet against that wall) to check for leaks and for freezing - this way you can put a heater on the pipes - can you do that? my wall goes behind to my linen closet.

it sounds like your builder put the pipes against an outside wall - praying the heat helps soon!

lol yesterday I made the most awful chicken but savable for other dishes- I did order mom something from the fancy restaurant she likes - I did give her left over veg which she liked. I just couldn't give it to anyone as roast chicken. it tastes fine but not like good roast chicken

I have the uncooked meatballs defrosting -needs frying and simmering in sauce. I already have a salad ready for tonight - just need to make garlic bread. I think for me - I will make an extra veggie dish. I am trying to eat more veg than meats.

builder is coming here tomorrow to pick out some things for plumbing

mom has been on and off awake since 7 but I wait until 8:30 especially when no one else is here.
she has been very alert and funny - at times a little feisty.

hope today plants
1 hour of figuring out plants for outside and ordering plugs -
time for dogs

Good morning

Another snow day here. No school but the place DS17 works is open again.

DH and I teamed up at 6am to take the trash to the road. It was a challenge for several unusual reasons. The garage door isn't repaired yet so has to be manipulated manually. Also the snow depth is still over my ankles which means my shoes got filled with snow while walking to/from the road. ANYway, we got it done which gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

I've been trying some new things in my hourly pathway cards. Also, tweaking the weekly, monthly and yearly cards. I am excited to be having success the last few days with the changes but there is a big elephant in the room (so to speak). There are several daily doings that will start again when we come out of this snow pause.
The time that I spend take DD14 to/from school? Not happening.
All the laps that I typical walk outside? Nope. Not happening
The time that I usually spend in the garden? not happening
Our afternoon trip to get drinks? No happening.
These items are easily a couple hours of my time that I am not doing because of the snow. What happens when i add them back in to the increased number of cards that I've recently added? Will I be able to manage all them?
I am an optimist and enjoy a challenge, so am willing to try. If I have set the bar too high, I can always adjust it.

Reminding myself -

Hi!

Dh went back to bed. His PSW is coming in45 minutes. Maybe less.

I've emptied the dish rack and the dishwasher. I've also had some toast (rye bread with caraway seeds in it) with herb and garlic cream cheese on it.

Dishwasher was getting refilled as I was waiting for the toast to toast.

I got dressed before 9 a.m. It's very windy here today.

Dh is home from his workout, which was at 8 a.m. He took the dog to walk and will monitor shower and I'm now upstairs with Zoom booted up ready for the day.

I brought the Roomba upstairs yesterday to run it while I'm up here, and it was dead. Finally got it back downstairs this a.m. and it's connected to the network and charging again.

-run Roomba when it's charged up
-call/text/message neighbor who is teaching art class about stamping materials - hoping she will pick up some or all
-Reminder to neighbors that HOA dues are to be paid on or before Saturday

PSW has come and gone.

I've loaded the dishwasher and it's doing it's thing. Other than a few small pots in the sink, I don't feel like there is much else to do today.

Closet in bedroom is calling, but one of the cats is sleeping in there. Maybe when she comes out, I'll do that.

Hello! I've just been out of the house for the first time since Saturday evening. DH was doing the driving -- taking DC to school -- but I came along because my plan had been to stop off at the post office on the way home. I got a missed delivery notice on Friday; thought they might try delivery on Saturday, but no dice. I'm pretty sure it's my ADHD meds, which need to be signed for. Friday afternoon, I had both kids with me to run to the grocery store, so nobody was home to sign. And... my package was not at the post office. I'm really hoping the carrier is going to attempt redelivery, and that's where it is. I hate to think of the hoops I'd need to jump through if they lost it.

Anyhow, the roads were not too bad. Not great, but not too bad. OTOH, there was a sign about a mile before we got off that said the highway was closed 7 miles ahead. I don't know what the folks continuing (or wanting to continue) eastward are going to do.

Nothing really accomplished yet. I had told DC last night that they would need to have the car cleaned off by half an hour before we needed to leave this morning, so once I was done with my breakfast, I got something warm started for them, and soon it was time to go.

So it'll be the usual laundry when I'm done here, then lunch. Not sure what lunch will be, nor whether I'm going to try to make something for everybody. Probably not -- I'm inclined toward frozen pizza or cauliflower wings. I've got a salad that needs eating, though. Maybe frozen pizza with salad on the side?

Hoping Harriet is back to normal indoor temperatures and Twins has a working shower soon. Off to Mt. Washmore I go!
