Ready, March! It's March PWYC
Ready, March!
We're marching into the new month, and spring, and all kinds of happenings in our village.
How will you spend the day? The week? Here's it's sunny and heading to high seventies...

Wooo hoo!! It's March!! There was snow overnight, so hopefully there won't be snow at the end of the month|!!
Thank you for starting us off today Twins' Mom!!
Dh is still sleeping. Kettle just came to a boil, so it's time for my hot chocolate.
Other than 3 cat litter boxes and washing the bed sheets, there isn't too much else that needs to be done here today. Thankfully the sun is now shining.

Cathy, hot chocolate is soooooo healthy for the attitude!
I had the kitchen bar completely covered with sewing preparations all evening. Got to a stopping place with my basting and cleared that to have a completely different day today, since at least one set of company is coming.
Very much enjoyed prayer meeting last evening. HRH came in for part of it.
He has erased some footprints through the den this morning. Not too much to do to have the house ready.
I do need to put the ironing board away - it helped a little, still out in the LR last evening, but most everything is cut down to smaller sizes now.
When dd27 and dsonil come, I'll have some delegation for dd. There's a high spot in the LR she can help me re-decorate and do some put-away. And I want her to look at Tobias' claws.
Twins', we have good weather today, too. Tomorrow the temperature drops more than 30 degrees!
And it rains. Sigh.
So, for my appts tomorrow we will be putting up with a bit of disappointment, lol. Hopefully, not too bad.

Re: Ready, March! It's March PWYC
Oh no, Harriet, I haven't looked ahead to the week's weather yet. We're to have high seventies today - we're going to the river with our friends A and V. Might be a boat ride, he has the book in a lift in the slip so it's easy to drop in and go. I'll need sunscreen for sure! (For Costumelady, our dfriends A and V have a weekend condo on the TN river - small but deck sits right on the river high enough to not flood. It's a great place to spent an afternoon talking, reading, hanging out.)
I got through last night's Rotary club social. Walked in with a couple I didn't know, talked to her for awhile (new to this area in the last year) and then rotated over to talk to dfriend S, whose dh is also a Rotarian. We hadn't talked in awhile - probably since Hanukkah so it was great to catch up with her, although hearing was difficult, even with hearing aid on. (Their kids are our kids ages, ds was in her ds's wedding, he's a CPA and I knew him first through work, but they also go to our temple so there's always news there to catch up too.)
I told dh that after two social evenings, I didn't want to talk until noon today. I'm pretty socialized out, but with A and V I can read or just hang out, not pressure.
And this has been sitting awhile...
Busy week - Thurs, Fri, Saturday is "Roots Tech" a big genealogy conference in Salt Lake city that has virtual offerings for those staying home. I perused the schedule and selected some sessions I'd like to watch but of course I don't have to either.
Waving to Cathy!

Re: Ready, March! It's March PWYC
Good morning
We were able to attend church service this morning. I no longer take that for granted since DH memory episodes randomly happen. Each time we can do it together seems like treasured moments. I don't live in fear to know it might be the last time, but in reality of embracing the moments. Each time I see DH unable to do things he used to do without thought or effort. Today scripture was in John 6 which is super easy to find, but DH didn't know where John was in his Bible. Once I got him to John then he struggled to find the 6th chapter. These are simple things that I never imagined he wouldn't be able to do.
I didn't cook potatoes and bagels this morning but replaced them with iced cinnamon rolls. I don't eat them but the family enjoyed the change in carbs.
DS17 called me twice this morning while I was in church. I text him that I could step out if he needed me, but he said it was okay. Later he called again and told me that his best friend has moved out of the home he was sharing with the mother of his child (they aren't married). I am heart broken about this, but it isn't unexpected. Their baby is 6 months old.
DD14 didn't spend any time outside yesterday so I've told her to give her body double amount today. She can choose what she does outside as long as her skin and eyes receives sunshine. Fresh air in her lungs is a bonus.

Cathy - I was intrigued about peameal bacon because I've never heard of it. Our Canadian bacon doesn't have any yellow on the outside. It is about a 2.5" circle of ham.Around here "Canadian" bacon is called peameal bacon because it has a yellow coating on top.
I would love to try Canadian Poutine. It sounds like a dish that I would love. I looked for a recipe = Potatoes, cheese, brown gravy seems to be the main ingredients. I seriously doubt that I could recreate anything that is close to what is served in Canada, but maybe I could get a clue.

LadyM make a pot of beef gravy (from a mix is fine) See if your store has white cheese curds. (Mozzarella cheese is okay in a pinch) and fry up some french fries. Put the fries on a plate, put some hot gravy, put some cheese, cover the cheese with more gravy because it has to get melted. That's all there is to it. It looks awful but that poutine in the video you posted the other day looked really good.

I never knew that about Canadian bacon in Canada - we use what d lady put up.
I had English friends that had mushy peas - I never could figure out the joy in them lol
many friends have baked beans on their toast for breakfast.
glad you had a lovely prayer meeting d harriet
hello to everyone.
made the onion quiche today instead of yesterday - made the onions yesterday.
made an apple tart with the extra pie dough.
made a salad for tonight.
dw has been emptied and is on now.
mom - I usually let mom talk without feeling hurt. I always knew how she felt about my brother over me. He was much more like her. today She said she didn't like me as much as my brother - sometimes she didn't like me at all. - very matter of fact. "He was like me". we never say anything about my brother in front of her except how much he loves her or he is coming to spend time with her, wasn't it nice he stopped by even for 15 minutes. - it was a hard moment but not devastating.
time to play with the dogs soon - I would like to finish the kitchen. I ate lunch. I will have soup tonight

Re: Ready, March! It's March PWYC
Hello, all! Read at church today. There is a lot of Lenten programming planned. One of the things was a study of the book Separation of Church and Hate, put on by the Nonviolence committee? ministry? I forget what they call themselves. I've been wanting to read the book, but it'll just have to be something on my own, as the study group meets while I am driving DC to/from class. There are confessions this Wednesday; I want to go, but I just always feel so awkward.
We had a dip in the temperature overnight, along with some snow. It's sunny now, and a bit less cold, but still well below freezing. Between the freezing temperatures and the sun melting things, I had to be very careful going into church, as I couldn't tell whether the shiny spots in the parking lot were water or ice. (They were water; the parking lot was well salted.) DH, bless him, put air in my tire when we got home; I meant to these past couple of days when we had nice weather, but I forgot.
Twins, it's nice to have friends you can just be with. Our friends P and K are the same way. K is an early-to-bed, early-to-rise sort of person, but our visits there seem to go late because we just enjoy being in each other's presence.
Cathy & LadyM, I find poutine very yummy, but I was a little traumatized the last time I had it -- the cheese was a little too stretchy, and too much tried to go down at once. I was in distress, and my family didn't notice. As for the bacon, I remember on a trip to Niagara Falls with my family when young that I ordered something with bacon for breakfast and was disappointed to get peameal bacon -- and then I realized that we call it "Canadian bacon" because it's what Canadians call bacon, so what the heck was I expecting?! (I was later educated on the difference between back bacon and side bacon.)
(((blessed))) You're a blessing, whether or not your mom realizes it.
DD is multitasking -- she's got stuff on the computer and the TV and is talking online with friends. (At least I think she is talking about one or both of the things she is watching.) DH has decided he is going to go upstairs to watch a movie I don't particularly want to see. I'd rather watch or listen to the ballgame, spring training though it is. Not sure where I can do that without disturbing anyone. I could maybe put it on the radio in the kitchen and close the doors from the dining room into the living room. I'll go see if that works. Have a great day, everyone!
