National "Get over it Day" PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

LOL, of all made up holidays, this is great!

Here are some suggestions (https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/nat ... ay-march-9 )
HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL GET OVER IT DAY
Don't fume over something minor any longer.
Settle the score with yourself and your burden will feel lighter.
Say goodbye to the worry of the "if onlys" and "what ifs" and look forward to days with a more positive attitude.
Host an obstacle course race and see who gets over the objects in their path the fastest.
Get over that cold that's been nagging you for weeks.
Has something trivial been weighing on your mind? Get over it and use #NationalGetOverItDay to post on social media.
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Thank you for starting us off today Twins' Mom!!

LucyLee, it wasn't me. I would never get a foot rub. (Don't touch my feet! I stopped going for pedicures a long time ago.) I also stay as far away from AI and other things like that on a computer. I have never posted a picture of my dd other than her roller derby pictures, which were already on FBook when she was still skating. It makes me cringe when people post pictures of children anywhere on social media. I understand that posting a picture of a missing child on a police FBook page is a necessary evil.

I got a lot done yesterday. I also couldn't get to sleep last night. Finally got to sleep just before 2 a.m. and I was wide awake at 7.

All 3 cats have been outside. After they came back in dh was up and ready for his coffee. Now he is back in bed snoring. He denies that he snores.

We are having leftovers for supper.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Back from class and working on morning routines and footprint removal,

Yesterday I worked on my MB closet and got it reorganized. Then I worked on all the emails that have piled up now that my computer is up and running.

Am going to work on getting my floors washed today. They need it. I also want to get my office put back together again.

Back to work… see yall later 🙃

Good morning

My day is off to a good start. There have been some bumps and aut-ohs but they are definitely in the "Get over it" category.

today has 4 appointments that are tied to the clock
7:45 - DD14 taken to school
10:00 = DSisIL appt to make her funeral arraignments (she has requested DH to be at the appointment)
2:00 - DS17 appt with family doctor for pilonidal cyst.
3:45 - DD14 picked up from school
Stay motivated. Success loves persistence.

Happy Monday. It is a top down day 72 and sunny! It is also my day off. I have a chiro and eye exam today. Need to pay bills and do paperwork. Want to do laundry, have about 3 loads of clothes. Sheets and towels need to happen by Friday as well.

Tonight I have Daughters of the King, this is a woman's religious group that focuses on prayer and service. I became President in January. Immediately following that group we have a meeting with the leader of a group called Trinity Haven. They are an organization in our capital city an hour North where they provide housing and support for homeless LGBTQ+ Youth. They are looking to pair with liberal accepting churches in our college town to adopt college students whose parent disowned them when they came out and provide a home base for holidays and summers when not in dorms. We have a gay son who is launched. Right now my youngest 2 still living at home but they are getting ready to launch. So we can't house this summer but we are going to learn to be ambassadors and help approach other liberal faith groups.

I don think I have posted since last Monday, the days get away from me. It gets so busy. Saturday and Sunday for example we got up at 7, left at 8 for 1hr plus drive to a church near north of capital city for a Ukranian Easter Egg making workshop. It was quite fun, 9 to noon, then we went to Costco and this huge international grocery we discovered. Got home at 4 to put stuff away and then left again at 4:45 to run to grocery for prescription and non cold foods and I had to pick up things at Dollar tree for Sunday Schhol, then went to a retirement event at local distillery and then to the Opera. Got home at 11 pm but with time change effectively midnight. Had to be up and out of house Sunday so I could play bells at church for 2 services as well as lead children's chapel, teach Sunday School we are doing 4 weeks of Stations of the Cross sculpture. Then helped hubby clean up from coffee, we are the coffee ministers for last 8 years. He had visited too much and had forgotten to turn on our industrial dishwasher. So while it heated we ran down the street to Indian buffet. Came back and finished then I helped put bells away at end of 2nd service. We ran home and I was in a 2.5 hour Education for Ministry study. I was pretty wiped socially at this point. Cuddled with hubby for an hour nap and then got up and watched the last 2 episodes of Bridgerton while I did my pill boxes for 5 weeks. I take a lot of supplements about 20 pills. Threw in a pot of soup in instantpot that we got at Costco (wish we got more it is delicious) and took dog for a 40 minute walk, came home to eat and went to bed. I felt rung out. The 2 shows helped a lot.

Hope you all have been well. I feel that missing hour from time change. I don't know I have much time to catch up, maybe while waiting at appointments.

Up now:
shower :D
sort laundry and start :D
Take my zepbound shot, I am 10 hours late forgot last night. :D
Make a bagel for breakfast with some juice., thaw out lamb burger fo me to make 4 burgers for lunches this week. :D
Gather all mail :D and sort and set up bills to be paid on Friday which is payday
Make burgers and take one.

Chiro at 11:30
Shop for some things before eye exam, trying to make a short dog run for dog.
Eye exam at 2:30
Order new glasses from Pair
Head to church at 4:45
Hope one of the boys makes dinner for 8:30. I will need to ask them to.

That's my day, flipping laundry throughout and hubby and I will fold together before bed.

Lucylee thanks for explaining your retirement decisions. My hubby and Joel our account executive are responsible for our investments. We did both save a ton back since we were 16. Pension is about same as one paycheck net and I expect SS will be a bit more than 1 net. Not as much gross but mostly because we took out so much. I hope we won't notice difference too much. Currently I make 12 hours pay for week and the 2 together equal that 2nd net check.. so other than for my car we haven't withdrawn from retirement. Though I have made less money since retirement, the money I use from net checks have been the same, now however nothing is going into investment. We belong to a Timeshare which we view as our vacation home that travels with, it is our second mortgage. While we could pay it off, the tax of taking it out and the fact we average 10 to 14% a year in investments and the loan for house is 2% and second is 5.5% it doesn't make sense, but we should be paid off end of 2027 for both. We pay extra on both. We dont owe on cars. Dh will get a newer car probably when he reiters , mine is a 2021, his is a 2014 but it got a new engine from a recall 5 years ago. Traveling is how we want to retire so the Timeshare which is points based makes sense. It is like prepayng for vacations as we know we will never be able to sell it back for much. But if you think about buying a second house on a lake, it would cost at least twice what we spent plus you have utilities, upkeep, property taxes and insurance each year and you only ever get to see one place. Our sons use points as well. You do have to be flexible but is is how we travel to England each summer for Canal boat and about 10 other places since purchasing. Transportation costs still are part of our expenses but we get condos with kitchen and cook there mostly. The 3 boys will share it once we are gone or we can just relinquished or try to sell on resale if they don't but they do.

Brain Dump ahead warning...
Learning topic / let me know if I need to move this to a diff. thread...

I watched a PBS on super charge you brain or some thing like that.\
I have it recorded in my system. Too. So I'll be reviewing it as I clean today. That is the plan.
I've seen it before but it was a timely reminder for me.
I needed that to help with some goals for learning.

So... I sort of had to revive some lists goals and things.
Plus the amz. gift card thing. Tried to use the last of some on one nope.
Had to then hunt up the new one ... did that... got it entered in to that acct.

Then deciding on my items was next spring tops did that, books got some used ones.
Found work books and journals & comp note books for my writing.

Got a kids book french Fancy Nancy one. Just for fun.
While doing that remembered I had books in my book shelf not read yet got those out from my last order.
I do this b/c as a kid I could not get books like the other kids in the weekly reader book orders so I have
a books & education section in my budget no guilt that way. I keep books on my wish list titled book list.

-----
Other learning / crochet pattern
knitting projects I"ve revived.

Gardening Planner ...
Learned the frost date last one is a month off /
seeds have to wait to go in the earth.
-----
Next up:

The alternative for today was National Napping Day, which does not help our bodies adjust to the spring forward time change. I'm setting my clock a little earlier every day to move back to an earlier start time.

I have a workout this afternoon. Our supper is lamb chops, green beans, butternut squash or an acorn squash.

I finally purged flowers and arranged the bouquet dh got from Costco last week, and I have the dishwasher going (should have run it last night, but whatever) and the roomba. Dh is quiet after his over indulgent afternoon yesterday tasting bourbon. And I think I'm going to strip the bed upstairs and wash those sheets so dcleaning lady can remake it this week.

So far today my energy is good.

Just took the roomba apart to retrieve a piece of plastic caught in it. And I'm over it! It does not do the greatest job ever but every little bit helps.

Perhaps I get over it every day, because I can't think of anything! Maybe I'm not doing it right, lol. I do try to avoid the all-or-nothing thinking, like "this will be a bad day because it started out bad". The next space of time gets a clean slate.

Quite right, Twins', a Napping Day is less on-point for me - naps decide for themselves, lol.

Are Ukrainian Easter Eggs some of the ones made with thin hot-wax lines? If so, I admire them but can't consider making them because my hands aren't steady enough. (lol, like this house could manage space for another craft anyway) Who went with you to the class, Costumelady?

Nancy, let us know what brain boosts you liked learning about.

The template came out well, pressed flat for the night until dry, and I've cut it out. I can see how it will work for one of the quilt blocks, and another will work better for the one beside it, so that is exactly what I'd wanted. Variety will keep me engaged through a tedious task.

Have a call in to the tax preparer. I noticed an omission going over her email. Won't matter much - just need another page added to what she gives us. And we'll still be able to pick up tomorrow as soon as she suggests a time.

Next up lunch.
