Spring! into Friday: PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

It's Spring - officially! Today is the spring equinox, which marks the astronomical beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere. The amount of daylight and night are most closely equal.

The back of our house faces west, we watch the sunset go south in the winter and north in the summer. Tonight the sun sets in the west, not southwest, not northwest. Part of my own seasonal watch is to notice the sunsets and the arc.

Enjoy this "official" start to Spring!

Awesome start to our day Twins' Mom!! Thank you!

I have also been watching the sun. I have been enjoying the return of later sunsets. I have been reading Circle of Days by Ken Follett. The book is so good that I have been reading over 200 pages a day for the past 2 days. This morning I was up until past 2 a.m. and I just woke up.

Dh's PSW should be here in less than an hour!! I'm already dressed. Time for me to start the kettle and get dh's coffee ready to the point where all I will have to do is push the start button.

It's raining here.

Good morning. I will have to look out the side of our house and say to myself that the sun is specifically setting in the west this evening, and make a mental note of that direction and visual. Had not thought of it. Hmmm... .. maybe I could take a quick photo, even, to get the more exact concept directly from my own home. Oh, the grands need to hear that, too. Ds' children, especially, have a clear view toward the west from part of their yard.

Cathy, yesterday Bama was telling in Fun and Games that she enjoys looking at the booksellers on Etsy. It sent me down a rabbit hole for a while.

Yesterday evening dgdC looked over my quilting and pointed out what were her favorite areas, so we enjoyed that moment. She was headed off for her first softball game of the year. I'd just finished a frustrating line of quilting that taught me what not to try if I want to enjoy it, lol. I'd actually taken a day off to think, because that line was disappointing me, so since finished is better than perfect, I need to keep things simpler.

Good morning!

Interesting thought about the sun setting in the true west, Twins. I, too, will have to look to see where the sun sets -- if I can; it's a rainy day today. But my house is not aligned with the cardinal directions; my street does not run north-south but rather perpendicular to the lake shore. Which makes finding out where west actually is more interesting. We had our equinox, after a fashion, a couple of days ago -- my weather app says we will have 12:07 of daylight today. Again, not that I can see the sun.

Headed out shortly for pedicures with dfriend K. Two times ago, we had gone 3-1/2 months between, which was definitely too long. This time it's been a month and a half, and I don't really need it. Although that may be because she trimmed them too closely last time; my big toe only stopped being tender two or three weeks ago. I'm not tickled to be scheduled for the same pedicurist this time, but our appointments are scheduled when K can go. She still works, but she has Friday afternoons off, so we typically go on a Friday afternoon or a Saturday.

Did actually get the kids into the playroom yesterday and got three things knocked off my to-do list. Unfortunately, one of those things resulted in me determining some items did not fit in the storage I had planned for them. When the weather stays warm for a few days in a row, I will have to go up into the attic and assess things there. The kids want to keep too many things IMHO, and storage is getting a little tight, but I know I have things in the attic that should be pitched or given away, so that will free up space.

Happy Spring to all of you! I am off to have a nibble of lunch before I go.

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start. HURRAH for spring arriving!

My day is off to a good start. My energy level is abundant and stable. I am thankful to be coming out of a low phase.

Earlier this week the weather forecast for today was 100F. Now they have changed it to be only 97F. Whatever the temperature turns out to be will be on the hot side. hum....we might turn our a/c on today for the first time in 2026

My energy is always better in the spring/summer with a lot of natural light. During the winter, we get sun in our high windows from the south. That moves north and at its turnaround is barely beyond the angle of our bedroom, which sticks out west on the north side of the house. So we get sun from the west year-round, albeit at different angles.

Today is laundry, clean up, do stuff, and get away in the morning.

This post has been sitting here forever. I s2s-ed and packed and pulled out toiletries for the trip. I refilled my meds boxes and then transferred to easy to carry tiny plastic bags. Laundry to hand dry is hung up, and last load of other laundry is in dryer.

We had a power outage for maybe 30 minutes.

Happy Spring !!!!! So happy. The weather is supposed to be sunny and warm for the next 3 days, yesterday I put my top down on my convertible. I think I may need to take a joy ride.

My middle son is so upset. He found land in our neighborhood to buy - we have agreed to purchase the land and technically gift it to him 12 k a year for 5 years and the house he planned to build was approved to fit on there and he was so excited but he started to do the figuring and he can't afford the build. I am quite disappointed in the bank woman to give him the hope he could afford 300K, He has to finance 300K or close to it and according to our calculations he simply can't afford to do that right now. Now I think if he works for a year and saves up most of his earnings and still lives with us he would possibly have enough. He got so sad and dropped into sobbing depression it was quite shocking. He has fixated on this for a couple of months. I don't know how to help him. He is a bit bipolar - and autistic - just extraordinarily intelligent. I wish I could afford to buy the house and he just "rent to own" it. It is about 1 block down our street. We think the land is a great investment so we still want to buy it. He feels so defeated, he wants to get married and have kids and he chose to not complete college out of high school and piddled around doing various jobs and things for 10 years and then he has now gotten his bachelors and is a teacher but our system is hurting for money and are basically punishing the teachers by making their classes bigger instead of replacing and hiring teachers and using long term subs instead of contracted teachers. He is worried he will still be a long term sub next year. I told to apply in the 3 neighboring school districts, each about 25 to 30 minutes away. With him he always goes to the extremes. With us just retiring we don't want to pull too much out of investments as we will have to live on the interest of our investments along with our SS and pensions. My husband has it all figured out. C has not come up at all yet today and I am worried about him, he can go deep in depression quite quickly. I need to go down there but I never know what to say. I thought I had it handled when I told him we were still getting the land and he could take a year to save up and maybe the interest rates would come down some more and he could get a part time job to bring in some more money. He cheered up and then got mired in his head after supper and all of the negative stinking thinking. May see if he wants to go for a car ride and get some icecream.

This week I went through a terrible bout with an autoimmune flare, I think I am reactive to gluten again so gluten free it is for a while. I feel better after 3 days off. I have had various tutoring, conference planning and training a new teacher sessions this week of my spring break. I also watched all 10 of the newest episodes of Virgin River.

We had a dove contemplating laying a nest in one of our garden pots - reachable to our neighbor cat who kills everything.
