Re: TENDING THURSDAY
Lynlee, Thanks for doing a "Google" search on that. It must mean a children's author since it had "kinde" in front of it.
I should've remembered that word from Advanced German class and just didn't absorb it at the time.
Our German teacher was from Germany and she was so difficult and very, very strict. Learned a lot. If you got caught chewing gum, you paid a nickle or quarter for it. At the end of the year, she took the students who passed finals or had earned extra credit (or chewed LESS gum?)
to a German castle-type restaurant where you ordered in German, had a German menu, etc... I never went. I wasn't a great German student.
I remembered a lot of words though. Just not this one today. The neighbor has a German foreign exchange student living with her, so I'm assuming the pkg. was for her, although it was addressed to the neighbor. DH took it up and put it between her garage and back door where it's covered with a roof over the walkway, out of sight of the road where it can keep safe and dry. They'll find it there. It's odd it ended up here, 1/4 mile south of their home.
I hope you got to re-start your day A-OK, too.
Touch the earth, love the earth, her plains, her valleys, her seas. Rest your soul in her solitary places. ~Henry Beston

Re: TENDING THURSDAY
HOME AGAIN, HOME AGAIN!!!
LOL -- it IS good to be home, and everything has been put away -- of course, dirty clothes are just sitting there, staring at me from the laundry basket... but it is nice to be settled back among my things and nice to have no deadline for check-out time in the morning and no 12-hour day on the road.
It is nice to not be driving in the ICE & SLEET, which started last night somewhere east of Oklahoma City and made it take us 5 HOURS to go 127 MILES.... NO HOTELS in between, b/c of the ice & sleet, which started rather suddenly.
* sheesh * Of course, we did not check weather conditions in advance, leaving the 72 and sunny days of Southern California, and knowing we were coming home to much warmer temperatures, so not expecting to cross another patch of severe winter.
* whew *
But... it is somewhat disheartening to be back into the humdrum of dirty clothes and bills to pay and dmom to worry about and... you know... all that STUFF of life.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all afford hotel type service in our homes... invisible maids to make sure everything was neat and tidy when we returned to our bedrooms and bathrooms, and Continental breakfasts prepared each morning when we awoke? I could definitely get used to that.
Well, thanks to my iPhone I have cuop somewhat as we traveled, but I know I've missed a lot, too. Thinking of Mr. Dee, and you, Dee... (((BIG HUGS)))... and glad to hear Sadie's surgery went well. Hope Mr. MT is doing well tonight, too.
And I wanted to tell Mr. Twins and any other FSU fans -- good game! It was certainly exciting. I think dh & I feel better after this loss than we ever have before. I mean, it was just such a good game, and AU people were so amazed & thrilled to make it to the championship after the season we had last year, that it's just not that horrible to come within 3 points of an undefeated FSU team and the Heisman trophy winner.
DH was very happy to see the Rose Bowl; I was very happy to see the Pacific Ocean. We managed to get along with each other pretty well for I'd say 99% of the trip.
All is well in lucyland tonight.
I'll try to get back into the village happenings asap... please forgive me if I've missed anyone's birthday/anniversary/etc.
Now... I can begin 2014. Back in the box... back to walking/exercising... back to trying to be a reasonable, responsible person. * sigh *

Re: TENDING THURSDAY
I've needed to start my day over here.
Ivy - google translated Kinde Solobdade into Kindle Solobdade - and I gather a Spanish poet? who has ebooks. There may be someone else. I just looked at the top of the list there. So your German may not be as wanting as you thought.
few showers here today.
Adding Mr Dee to the prayer list.

Re: TENDING THURSDAY
I enjoyed the sewing machine posts today. That child size Singer is so cute!
I'm glad I was able to get out and run some errands today. We're supposed to get freezing rain starting very early morning and continuing through the day tomorrow. I don't know if DH will make it to work.
FB stuff - As some of you recommended, my plan all along was to wait for vp to build her page and then deactivate mine. I didn't think that would be a big deal. Her point was that she didn't want to do the work to make a new page, she wanted me to do it. She wanted me to do all the work and spend a bunch of my time to build a new page, so then she could go to it and change it to the way she wanted it. She wouldn't tell me what she wanted it to look like, so it would have been a total waste of my time. It's better for her to do it herself so she learns what's involved and how much time it takes.
The LEGO order arrived today!
I've never played with LEGO before so I was very surprised when I opened a couple of the boxes. Those pieces are teeny tiny! I was expecting the people to be smaller versions of Fisher Price people, but no, even the people come totally disassembled so the heads and arms can be swapped to different bodies. If a kid wants to put a pirate head on a princess body, who's to judge?
I'm glad the first club meeting isn't until the 22nd, I think I'm going to need some practice on my own so I can keep up with the kids.

Re: TENDING THURSDAY
Hi everyone. I have had another good intentions day. I got NOTHING done all day, I was in bed with a migraine. Couldn't possibly be stress related now, could it? Unfortunately, staying in bed gave me a sore back, and now (1130 pm), I am wide awake. I did get up for art class and worked on the legs of a water dragon. Spent the whole class thinking about hydrodynamics and how a dragon would REALLY be moving its limbs to turn its body into the position I had already drawn. When I got to the class, there was a marvelous rainbow ring around the moon, so I called everyone out to see it.
After class, I did get a LOL washed and dried, but not yet folded. Also did a trifling amount of cleanup in the kitchen (some stash and dash items) and some filing. After I sign off here, I am going to check my email and balance my checkbook.
Tomorrow, I am going to a party at 1100 and already have my clothes laid out. I will try to get up early enough to check some fluids in my car before I go. I know I have leaks of both oil and radiator fluid. Cats must have missed me, I am surrounded by them wherever I go.
ETA: Checkbook is balanced and Quicken is updated. I have a grand total of $14.15 in my checking account. Lovely. However, it is a positive number rather than an overdraft, so that is good. I have a check to deposit, but since I have to mail it to a bank in TX, it will not be there tomorrow. Not-so-DFosterKitten has taken to scratching my sofa, dang it! Must do cat care, me care, bed. See ya tomorrow!
Ivy: A few days ago (Wednesday?) you asked me what I had done in art class and I meant to reply and flat forgot. We started by learning to draw, then I moved to water color pencils. Now, I am on acrylics. The current project is a dragon painting. DD11 has asked for one for the past two Christmases and no one found one. (I know at least three people and myself were looking. My brother did find her a great cat drawing.)
