What small change can you make today that will make a big difference?

A small change I am making today is removing more of the temptation from our home. I have tried and failed over and over resisting them, so out they go. I dropped two bags of the Ghiradelli chocolate into the trash. They were purchased to stock the pantry and be used in baking treats however my taste buds discovered those little mints taste wonderful all by themselves. One little wafer after another and another and........ I felt wasteful dropping 3.75 lbs of OH SO GOOD chocolate into the trash - but better in the trash than in my blood stream and ending up on my hips!

Saturday is the one day of the week that I try not to follow a schedule. A small change in routine makes me appreciate what works and long to return to it.

DGS18 and DGS16 have each sent me "needy" requests. Both want me to come spend the day with them however neither one wants the other one to be with me while they are. Since both of them are moving into the adult world, I think our relationship needs to evolve with adult guidelines....some boundaries. Gently. Lovingly. moving forward. A small change in that direction is needed today.

Brilliant, OK! We have a bag of ghirardelli squares that invites me to partake of their goodness every evening. I think I will offer them to small group members tonight and then throw the rest in the garbage. That will be a small change that will do me good!

After wanting so much to get up early today, I'm up oh so late!! I went to bed early (for me - well before midnight) but lay awake from 3:48 until about 5:10 a.m. Up at 9. I've taken the dogs out to go potty, rewashed the glasses in the dw (I do this daily), had a cup of tea and checked my email. Dh's lead research scientist sent me 30 emails for visiting scholars and grad students working with dh whom he thinks are a priority to invite to the party. . .I should probably invite dh's secretary too. Our house is not large, so I wonder how we'll all fit? Well, total square footage wise, we're fairly large (3400), BUT all the rooms are very large, so that means the living areas aren't particularly large.

today:
- groc. store -- b/c I forgot my list when i went on Thursday and so didn't pick up all the ingredients for beef barley soup tonight.
- clean the house. It is a wreck! I've been busy, kids have been home a lot, things are falling apart here.
- make soup
- work on teaching; 2 hours would be nice
- small group will be here around 5 pm until about 8:30.
- send out the evite and commit myself to a surprise 50th bday party for dh. . .

I'm off to finish cleaning up the kitchen, something I didn't do last night.

Morning ya'll...

Okay, I always do the same thing. Any chocalate calls my name so I dump it before it gets a chance. I don't consider it wasteful but smart :D

I try to keep my refrig and pantry clean of such goodies as they are forever calling my name. It was much harder when I had kids in the house. I'm a visual eater. I might not even think about cookies and such, but once I see it sitting in the pantry I want it. I hide or keep such items out of direct vision. I stash them in the bottom shelves so they stay out of my site. It really helps.

Today I'm getting ready for some football. This is my favorite weekend of the season. Even Sweetie may join me.

I needed to finish my coffee....doggies are done. Then it's laundry. Dust removal, kitchen shine and sucking the carpet. We're going out to dinner with Norma and Mr Guy so. That's taken care off. We're taking them to a mystery place tonight. It should be fun. :)

Ya'll enjoy the day...... I can here the camel bells in the distance. Guess someone forgot to tell them Xmas is gone or maybe they just like the sounds of the jingle jingle...

Norma and Mr. Guy, watch out! Be prepared for anything. Cowinkie's idea of mystery... .... Hmmmm... ...

lucylee, I'm smiling at your DPC. Poor dh - good for you getting instructions straight.

helia it sounds like it will be a wonderful party.

OKay, I believe that product would be in competition with the one used for a base in the cupcake icing from Southern Living mag, that we used for the super-smooth (dip-in) icing for dd's birthday cupcakes. I do have the other product in my cabinet, but thankfully it's made in one large bar or wedge, with break-apart indentations, not loose! I don't know how you stood it as long as you did!

TaDas from yesterday - finally able to pick up last script. Tree denuded. But with the intense rainstorms I don't see it getting out the door for a while. More decor put away.

Today's e-mail batch-declutter this morning: Runner's World magazine, and ... ...that's gone. They must be affiliated with Prevention or some other entity who shared my e-mail. I had not expressed interest to them.

Today's laundry - dd occupying the machine
Today's Focus - final shove of holiday decor, lol
Today's declutter - master bedroom in general

Family phone call today to dcousin for his birthday. Long chat.

Today's progress on projects - to be announced

I'm up. Awaiting my breakfast to be set up on the balcony. Another sunny and warm/hot day.

I've done my email box cleaning for the day. Have dealt with 300 messages so far, just 520 to go! (It is getting slower work since I can't delete/move large groups of them now, but have to look at each message.)

Still have a lot of writing to do today.

I wish I didn't need to take Synthroid in the a.m. Because I need to wait a full hour before breakfast, it seems to slow the morning down for me, and postpones everything by 1 hour. What I DO do, while I wait that hour, is pray, journal, have coffee and come on-line. I guess it's become such a part of my routine by now, it shouldn't bother me anymore. I get "hungry" though. I should just "get OVER it!"

I have 4 short introductory letters to write to ladies in a pen pal newsletter, who are asking for new pen pals. One's from our State, across the mountains on the Eastern side of our state. She's my age, too. :D Also, since DGD did "NOT" fit the hats I've recently crocheted her and her Dmom's loom-knitted 2 hats, which didn't fit her, too, we've all come to the conclusion DGD has a big head! Her head measured 19" at Christmas, in a hurried measuring session, as she was wiggly in the excitement. I'd love to get started on some hats, which I've printed up for her, which fit 20" children's heads. :!: :P I've got pretty soft pink, purple, variegated purple, found some soft purplish-blue and orange. Wow! That's quite the selection to choose from, plus have 4 patterns and 1 pattern for a crocheted flower.

Then, there is my short story, written from the male POV.  :o I just don't know if I can pull it off, I keep putting it off, but it's nearly done. I don't know which item on my list to do first. The story? Forget about the story, relax and crochet first? :?: Write 1 letter, then crochet 1 hat, and THEN do the story? :?: Decisions-decisions. :? Oh, well, it's only 5 minutes to breakfast now, so once I do that, I'll s2s and then take the day as it comes. :D At least doing my new chin-length "do" won't be time-consuming or difficult to do. ;)

HAPPY SATURDAY SMALL CHANGE DAY! :D

I just received email (spam) from Indiana. ***VBSigh*** I guess someone has hacked her email account.

I noticed the other day how many FB friends have died. Their FB account just keeps going. Some had signed up for daily horoscope so their page is updated every day even after than have died. What's the right thing to do? Unfriend them on FB when they die?

LO is down for a nap. DNeice has a party that starts in 45 minutes. We have already taken her gift to her so I think we will skip this round of cake/ice cream

Lunch was grilled chicken sandwiches with green salad.

Next up -
** Watch the pilot episode of Enlisted. (new comedy about army life)
** Kitchen to MM
** LOL

Hello. Have been working on finishing a project here. Was able to find a date to help with that in one of our threads here from over a year ago. We got a check in we've been waiting for for months and I ran that down to the bank. It's warm here this afternoon, 85°. It's supposed to get cold again the middle of next week. (I took my long underwear off!)

Yesterday I slept in the afternoon and half the evening. I was so worn out getting those 2 projects done and a couple long evenings...haven't been this tired since I was sick. But feeling good today, guess I just have to learn to pace myself more these days.
